Exactly.Of course they did. Can't sell something that cheap.
So there are over one million units somewhere in a warehouse out there...right.
Being able to draw with a pencil is not what he was referring to.Yeah, yeah… I know what Steve said about styli...
Unfortunately, the source of the Apple Pencil rumor has no track record, so the claims need to be taken with a large pinch of salt.
This is actually one of the dumbest rumors I have ever seen.
You mean use systems that will be able to be read after 5000+ years? Wait, that's the inelegant method.Because we never truly revolutionise how we do certain tasks, just do the same tasks a bit differently or more elegantly.
People get this wrong, even when posting the actual video.Yeah this story is bogus. Jobs already explained stylus on a phone size device is pointless (Joke intended).
Tablet or iPad mini is another thing.
A larger trackpad on the MBP with Pencil support wouldn’t be a bad idea. Not perfect but not bad.
That might work for you, but for those of us who use our phones and tablets differently, an iPhablet is no replacement for an iPad.This would be another nail in the entry level iPad's coffin; probably the iPad Air too.
I'd just get the biggest and best iPhone with the pencil, and use that together with the Macs, Watch, and AirPods, HomePods etc.
iPad Pros would be quite niche as I just don't see it being a laptop replacement.
People get this wrong, even when posting the actual video.
Context is important. When the iPhone was launched Steve was explicitly saying, if you HAVE to use a stylus to use the product you’ve already failed.
A pencil as an *additional* input device on an iPhone is not ruled out by the logic he laid out. Given how monstrously large some iPhones are today I think tons of people could benefit of the option of a smaller pencil, though I wouldn’t be one as I’m a mini holdout.
On second thought, you might be right: education market would probably use it.That might work for you, but for those of us who use our phones and tablets differently, an iPhablet is no replacement for an iPad.
Are people who post this in every Apple Pencil thread being intentionally obtuse? Steve Jobs clearly was talking about styluses that were required to navigate the UI. An Apple Pencil is not required to navigate iPad OS and it wouldn’t be required to navigate iOS either.Nope. Not buying the fake rumor.
Steve was trashing it in the context of being required to navigate the user interface. There’s a difference between needing a stylus to navigate because the touch targets are really tiny and using a stylus for drawing or note taking. I guess we’ll never know if Steve would have vetoed that coming to iPad (and possibly iPhone).Fake or not (and a $50 Apple accessory certainly elicits a grin), I’m in the camp that believes the larger iPhone screens now completely warrant Pencil support.
Yeah, yeah… I know what Steve said about styli. Steve was a salesman. He said lots of things. But these devices are now Field Notes-sized and there have been countless times I’d love the ability to sketch or doodle or work through an idea with a Pencil on my 14 Pro.
I would definitely like to see Apple add Pencil support to the Pro line. Amongst other things, would make a tangible differentiator.
I concur that Apple should just add support for Apple Pencil 2 in the Pro Series. An imperfect pencil charging might be achievable by reverse MagSafe at the MagSafe charging location on the iPhone Pro: place the iPhone face down and the pencil on the back. They should just add support for Apple Pencil 2 in the Pro Series. But then its not possible to charge or stack it on the side.
Congratulations for today's most meaningless internet comment. What do I do with my Apple Pencil?! I don’t draw 24/7 lol
