You're wrong and I'm not even American. Apart from the occasional homeless all around town issues, the breath and depth of galleries on offer, all mostly free, is hard to top to be frank. Been to many capital cities around the world, so I speak from experience. I'm not fan of the man, but the White House needed a space like this instead of the white temporary tent they would erect.

There are massive convention halls and hotels literally across the street from the WH…. So no, this shrine to MAGA did not need to be built.

I understand that Apple do this need to stay in Trumps good books, and this is prob a cheap way of doing so. But still....why the f should tech companies sponsor this?

Very sad to watch America go into reverse so rapidly, you can’t argue with greed and belligerence apparently.

Wonder if there will be a classy gold plated McDonalds in there somewhere?

It’s wild. I’m a proud monarchist (if for no other reason than politicians are turds) and a citizen of two constitutional monarchies.
These no kings protests actually offend me a little as it implies whatever the hell is going on in Washington is somehow aligned with my belief system. Kings in 2025 do not have this insane amount of power outside the Middle East.
Have no tyrant protests but don’t bring me in to this 😂
The USA seems to be giving monarchy a try, to make up for lost time they're speed running directly to having a Mad King.

It's worse.

If Apple are paying off Trump then they are making a mockery of all of their progressive advantages such as environment, security, inclusiveness and are merely gaslighting us for the sake of the shareholders.

Never get in bed with a bad person. This is an extremely slippery slope which puts every customer at grave risk. Once the administration starts dishing out orders we're all done for as customers. And that is exactly what they are doing.

There was an opportunity to sacrifice shareholder value and profit for principles which was not taken. Respect is gone.

Every time I see stuff like this, I realise I am risking my own personal liberty and I probably shouldn't be. We already had a near miss on the privacy front with the whole CSAM **** show which was caused by political pressure.

A trash PC running Linux is probably the only exit we have now.

On a serious note, what did the East Wing house in terms of rooms and whatnot? I feel like we don't know a lot about it.
One thing that’s painfully obvious is that trump’s gilt monstrosity will dwarf the rest of the White House.
The problem is that with trump’s inflated sense of crowd size, he’s overestimated the size needed for his ballroom.
He’s also planning a trump arch that will dwarf the Lincoln memorial.

I wish Trump was even just 10% of what democrats accuse him. Democracy is a failed experiment, the best countries in the world at this point are monarchies, dictatorships, or some other autocratic system. Its an illusion of choice. Both parties are complete garbage and slaves of israel. Its all fake to rile up americans to support "their team" like it a sport or something.

Pure tribalist nonsense. In reality this country is a declining empire and has been for DECADES.
Dislikes on your posts proves that most people prefer to live in an illusion.

Your trolling is on point.
No, but it’s illiterate and ignorant.
Our Capitol has been a model building for many other countries.
Cuba’s Capitol is a smaller replica of our own building.
The rest of the capital is full of revered, iconic and historic buildings.

Are you arguing against the fact that UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, China, Singapor etc arent among the best countries in the world? Western democracies are falling apart all over and barely functional as a society.

Lets look at a basic list, you tell me which countries in the middle east are doing better:

Monarchies:
  • Saudi Arabia – Absolute monarchy
  • Jordan – Constitutional monarchy
  • Morocco – Constitutional monarchy
  • Kuwait – Constitutional monarchy (Emir)
  • Bahrain – Constitutional monarchy (King)
  • Qatar – Absolute monarchy (Emir)
  • United Arab Emirates (UAE) – Federation of hereditary monarchies
  • Oman – Absolute monarchy (Sultan)
Democracies/Republics:
  • Egypt – Republic
  • Iraq – Federal parliamentary republic
  • Syria – Republic
  • Lebanon – Parliamentary republic
  • Israel – Parliamentary democracy
  • Turkey – Presidential republic
  • Iran – Islamic republic (theocratic elements)
  • Yemen – Republic
Which countries would you rather visit. Look at China vs the USA even they have a functional government, we havent had one since before nixon even.

We are at the point in time where guys like this will applaud Trump's henchmen cutting up critical journalists and putting them in suitcases.

As an outsider, it sounds like you haven't travelled or spoken to many people. I have.

As for "best country", I've heard that before. Back when I was in Russia a few years ago. Can't wait for your autocrat to send you, an insignificant participant in society, to the front line to fight the Venezuelan bad guys for egg money whilst building a $350m ballroom to entertain other autocrats in. Maybe if you're lucky your family will get a meat grinder off Aliexpress and an expensive but tacky monument as a reward for your sacrifice. Your kids will not get an education to pay for the monument, not that it'll matter because they'll be sent after you when they are old enough. That's what you're clapping in.

These things are not your problem of course because they are not happening to you personally right now. You always see them happening to someone else. Until that is no longer the case and you're freezing cold in a trench with a drone flying at you. But at least it's over then.

As for the bipartisan politics, that is something I have been heavily involved in over here. You're right. You need voter reform in the US, as do we in Europe and UK. But what you're getting isn't it. It's plain old fascism.

What surprises me is how easy to someone in power can modify a historic building like the White House (which is a monumental historic building not only for the Americans but for the whole world just like the British Parliament, Saint Peter's Basilica, Kremlin, Brasilia's pilot plan, Eifel Tower for instance). The Alvorada Palace (presidential residence) in Brasilia can not be modified. What is happening to the White House goes beyond my ability to understand...

Oh totally. At the same time the pub over the road from me in London is over twice as old. The building next to my apartment predates America being discovered by 150 years. Historic is somewhat difficult to define IMHO.

Thus the problem is symbolic rather than historic. It symbolises the intentional destruction of America.
