Wow! Weird! That LG 5K UltraFine is looking a lot less ugly at that price point. Tempted.

Don't look at the monitor. Look at the 5K.

Maybe this is a sign this thing will drop in price even further in no time?

Not having the Apple aluminum housing and logo around it, makes it less desirable to the average Joe.

The 5K pixels from the best monitor manufacturer makes it a lot more desirable. I'm not looking at the monitor housing and the logo, I'm looking at the 5K pixels that it displays.

You have to applaud Apple's marketing team. Make every peripheral that's thunderbolt required attractive and hopefully the reality distortion effect pushes their impulse to forget about the unit cost of their pro laptops.

That said, these screens are a bargain and wouldn't mind pairing a dongle for a PC workstation.

Pretty attractive price, if the only computer I owned was a 2016 MacBook Pro. The lack of any legacy connections on that display means it probably won't work, even with a dongle/adapter, with my Windows PC. I use displays for both.

I actually just bought a pair of Dell 4k 27" displays. I picked those instead of the LG primarily because it'll work with everything. Old(er) Macs, my Windows PC; heck, if I really wanted to I could plug in a Satellite TV box or something. They have HDMI (good for 1080p or 4k@30hz) and miniDP/DisplayPort.

Good to hear some decent news. These monitors are the replacement of the Cinema Display as far as I can see on the apple site. Does all the things my ACD and TB display does for my 2013 rMBP

Demand is so high that they're dropping prices of accessories...
This is all about optics. They are selling macs faster than they can make them .

They need you to not cancel the order so they are going to toss in some cheapness

Wow, amazing.

So does anyone know if a PC can run that thing? Or it HAS to be TB3? Say a GTX 1080 with DP 1.3 (technically can drive 4k @120hz on 1 cable).

I guess no one would know for sure 100%. but just wondering

Also want to know if both are fully compatible with Bootcamp.
