Hahaha that is briiilliiaaannntt! Well done.

How bad ARE the new MacBook pros selling? If they had planned this already, these lower peripheral prices would have been the starting point after the event. The only thing that makes sense is this is some kind of damage control...

Nobody sells more MacBooks than we do. There's no problem here, I can assure you.

I can't wait to hear what people have to complain about this.
I see a 1-year warranty with LG and not with Apple, so I'll pass. For my small business, I can't vet a 1-year warranty on a $1k accessory, and there's Dell and BenQ 4k displays out there for about the same amount of money with a 3-year warranty. I'd rather get the "business" version that LG usually comes out with soon afterwards that has a 3-year warranty for a few more bucks. I've read too many not-too-nice stories about LG's "consumer" displays to shy away... That's my 2¢.

What doesn't dropping the price of an accessory have to do with the sale sale volume of the MacBook Pro!?

They probably expected X% of MacBook Pro buyers to also buy a monitor. The % of monitor sales is probably far lower than expected, thus the price adjustment of the monitor. Which has no bearing on the claims of high MacBook Pro pre-orders.

LG could have also wanted the price dropped to stimulate sales, not solely an Apple decision.

Or it means fewer people than expected pre-ordered a Macbook Pro, which meant a
commensurate reduction in monitor purchases as well.

Do you want to know the REAL reason why Apple is suddenly dropping prices on new devices?

Because of this, this one product caught Apple with its pants way down around their ankles..caught them of guard..caught them resting on the biggest lorals in history..

This advert is even better then any Apple advert of late.

One of the best tech commercials this year.

I sure liked my old 30" Apple Cinema display. Even with my 27" 5K iMac, still kinda miss the 30" real estate. Hoping for a 30"+ 5K from someone, for a decent price, since Apple appears uninterested in making displays anymore.

For the budget conscious thats a good deal... For me personally, I can't stand the looks of that thing and wouldn't buy it at any price. Ha, who am I kidding. I would love to be in the discussion of buying one of these. I use desktops and alas, there are no Mac Pros that have USB C connectors. Maybe they should update their 3 year old top of the line machine so us pro's can have some fun too.

When iPhone 1 came out Steve reduced the price $100 after some feedback. This is TC's iPhone 1 moment.

What will someone offer me for my iPhone 1? 4?

JJ

Mac SI and Mac II CI were transition products. MacBook lacks a transition product. Last year's MacBook Pros will survive for 4 years now.

Since the 5k monitor is only supported by the new MBP, it very much looks like Apple is seeing bad sales number, but a decrease of MBP price itself one week after introduction is too much damage...

The 5K monitor hasn't even gone on sale yet so this can't have been in response to poor sales numbers.

Honestly, you can buy absolutely superb displays by Benq, Dell, even Kogan or other generic brand equivalents. The equivalent of the Apple display was available at about 1/3 the price from several brands for a couple of years now.

Hmm...kind of interested in the 4K, but I don't have the new MacBook. How the heck am I supposed to connect it to anything?

if only it wasn't so small. i'd rather have screen real estate than ultrasharp text
Get the 27". It's the same size as the 27" iMac. The screen real-estate is quite nice. Just need a 27" iMac that can power two of them as the laptop can. ...or perhaps an updated Mac Pro. Isn't the current Mac Pro stuck at 30fps for 4k or no?

As a side note/request. Where's the 4k Apple TV I've been wanting to give them money for for the past 3 years?

Edit: The box. Not the TV. Leave T.V.'s as dumb but super sharp displays only.

Thank you Apple!

That looks like an excellent monitor for the $. Seriously thinking of putting together a package with the 14 inch maxed out. I really try not to plug too many peripherals in, so I'm not stressed about the ports. T3 ports are the future. The only thing I will need is a place to plug in my cameras HD card, but those dongles are cheap and it's less of an issue every day.

I'm very close to pulling the trigger. It's nice kit.
