This is nice, but a concession that they aren't confident in their product and perhaps more importantly its sales forecast, in my opinion,

and though, as a 12" rMB owner, I am glad to see usb-c accessories on the price trajectory downward, I hardly believe that shaving the price off some of their still necessary accessories, without an extension cable in the box on a 1500 minimum machine, will silence the overwhelming criticism people have.

I dunno though?

Agreed, hardly ever post anything ever. But it must be said...

**** THIN, AND **** YOU APPLE!

My 2011 MacBook Pro. Yes it's a far superior Pro as it's a FAT BASTARD that has everything this new Anorexic doesn't.

Please think different and not retarded.
nope, new MBP is better in every way vs a low res, slow, slow internal i/o, slow external i/o, 2011 MBP. Oh wait you have a USB 2.0 port that makes it better, nevermind...

If the iPhone 7 was USB-C it would have solved a few problems. Namely being able to plug it in out of the box (they could have included a USB-C to USB-A adapter for everyone else).

It's a minority of iPhone 7 users who are using a Mac. It's a tiny minority of iPhone 7 users who have a new MacBook or will have one soon. And an even smaller minority if iPhone 7 users who have just a new MacBook and nothing else. "Everyone else" is the huge majority.

Got my dongle discount credited after a slightly too long chat with Apple support. Would've been nice if their statement included an announcement of automatic credits for customers who bought adapters last week.

No, but he may well push several gigabytes of data in the form of large uncompressed files over a secured wired network for work like I do, something that makes even the latest AC standard choke and drop packets like a drunk waitress with an inner ear infection and crap high heels. Are YOU capable of understanding that some professionals use their Pro designated laptops for something heavier than Netflix and email?

You provide another great reason the industry needs to switch to usb c/thunderbolt (faster file transfer). Apple has always kickstarted new technology in an industry that prefers to dip it's toes in slowly. Without Apple pushing the envelope we'd all still be using thick phones with fold out keyboards, computers with floppy drives, spinning optical drives, wired Ethernet (no wifi), spinning hard drives (the list goes on and on). By making a computer with only USB C/thunderbolt - they are forcing the industry to more quickly adapt than would normally happen. When the air came out with no optical drive everyone here bitched and moaned. Does your average person miss those? By making a technology popular Apple is able to reduce the costs of the new tech. In a year people will be very happy they have 4 USB C/thunderbolt ports in these computers. If you can afford one of these then I'm sure you can buy a couple of wires/dongles, if not then this is not the computer for you. I don't think this site attracts people who are excited about new tech and pushing boundaries.

Wow, saving Apple customers literally dozens of dollars. This is huge!

Still more expensive than buying third party attachments. And the white color doesn't go as well with either the laptop or the attachments. I'd suggest people still buy a third party dongle/adapter.

First party anything will always be more expensive, and rightly so.

'MacBook Amateur'

Hahaha, that is brilliant. That needs to be a viral hashtag.

Gotta admit that was brilliant indeed.

What's sad it's that they probably are still making big profits off them even w the discounts.
I guess they really felt the backlash this time.

APPLE, if you are reading this. Houston, we have a problem! Dongle price drop is a token of insincerity. This doesn't satisfy the issue of a 300$ more expensive computer with NONE current technology, and you want the customer to still pay for adapters. USB and Lightning should be include at the very least! And drop the damn price.. If you want this computer to sell, keep the price inline with what it always has been, 1999.00

There's a number of bad USB-C cables/dongles out there, including some that actually fry machines. Buyer beware.
Get a reputable brand like Monoprice, Amazon, Anker, Belkin, and it should be fine.
You deserve to be gouged if you get them from Apple.

nice move apple. why not just make all the dongles same price $19. $49 dongle is still super expensive.

At least apple listened once!

Now just drop the price of the MacBook Pro
at least the 2015 models (if not 2016).

My MBP is really cool. I can just plonk it in front of the TV and connect the legacy HDMI cable and it just works.
Or I can plug in the displayport monitor at work and it just works.
And I can connect the USB lightning cable that came with my legacy iPhone 7 and it just works.
This also works for a whole bunch of cheap accesories I use weekly, like USB sticks and printers.
And I often use the SD card slot too, it's super handy (ugly as it may be).

I waited until the Apple event to decide how to replace my 2011 4MB MBA. That evening I ordered a discounted 2015 13 inch 512GB MBP and saved £700 compared to the new 2016 13 inch 512GB MBP. I'm loving it!

But even better I can use all my old kit: mini-DP connector to iMac; USB to Lightning; USB3 memory sticks and back up discs; USB3 to RD45 network connector; direct plug in for my SD cards. Brilliant! Has saved me at least another £100.

Honestly, I appreciate that Apple's new UK prices are a bit bonkers due to Brexit, but I've saved around 40% by going for a 2015 machine. ;-)

after 4 years and delivering the worst laptop in apple's history, Tim lowers prices on adapters

PATHETIC !

Tim should fix the MacBook keyboard's wood feel, magsafe, memory limits, limited n. of ports and outrageous prices instead of dumping discounted adapters on apple customers
