These MBP's are priced at realestate bubble prices, so you just wait for the vendor to wake up and smell the realism. The price cuts were quick though! There's not enough new about the update to make me go "ooh shiny" and forget common sense, so what's the rush? A maxxed out MBP 15 inch should be 25% less than it is now, as a ballpark.

tbh, I was expecting something in terms of sound, a dB number, or at least something analogous, maybe:

my wallet is as loud as a snail on roids
or even
as loud as a pro on a nitrous-induced copulation spree

Well, it's something. Now, let our wallets rest until the actual MBP price is reduced too. (and works, even! With USB-C a n d wi-fi at the same time!)

If the 4K monitor can run my Xbox One and 360 through an HDMI splitter using an adapter I would totally consider one as a Christmas present to myself.

Loud as a bunch of 6 year old girls at a Barbie birthday party.

For a company that tries to appear as if it prides itself on design, selling 17 different adapters makes absolutely no sense other than being a lucrative business. Had they been more customer friendly they would have also introduced a hub or dock that had the most common connectors and connected via a single (or two for bandwidth) USB-C to the MBP. Several USB-A, Lightning, Displayport and HDMI and they would have had most people's needs covered without problems.

Now you have to turn to expensive 3rd party solution for that.

But Tim Cook has to make $400 Million some how - I heard he's donating to Hillary's Campaign.
[doublepost=1478297466][/doublepost]I can recall reading about the great Industrialist Henry Ford. You could work at his plant for a month and buy an new car. I find it unsettling that the workers in China making iPhones could never even dream about owing one especially when Tim Cook has amassed over 400 million dollars. Lord Tim, we are back in a feudal system.

Because that is the wrong solution. And where does it stop?

Most people need to adapt their external drives to USB-C and the correct way to do that is buy the proper cable, be it micro USB, or Firewire, or USB 3, or Thunderbolt 2.

Then there's USB peripherals. If they include one adapter that's great for a mouse, but what about the keyboard? So should they include two? And of course it's a laptop, so why would they include adapters for external keyboards and mice?

Maybe they include one for USB thumb drives, but again, where does it stop? I have a drawer full of them, and sometimes I plug two in at once. So does Apple include two adapters?

In the end, that's not how anyone should do it. Apple including an adapter will only enable people to keep using USB-A devices and cables.

I also disagree that Apple should not have included a 3.5mm adapter with the iPhone 7 for the same reasons, but now I'm starting to realize there was an ulterior motive for that, having to do with no Lightning headphone adapters, and the fact that AirPods have been delayed to market indefinitely.

Here's where it should stop: Apple should include a USB-C-to-Lightning cable because that allows its newest technology to be used with its newest technology. It should include a USB-C-to-USB-A cable because it's already forcing a radical transition at a high price and these devices are in overwhelming use. And it should include the power adapter extension cable it always has, both for tradition and because these are needed by a large percentage of the MBP's users. That's it. That's exactly enough to make people feel like they aren't getting shafted on the accessories front, it solves immediate problems that most users will face, and it is limited so that those with special needs will still have to deal with them separately. Moreover, the inclusion of only a single USB-C-to-USB-A adapter won't have any appreciable effect on USB-C adoption. People buying new devices will still know what they need to buy.

But didn't they say the new MBP was the most preordered MBP ever? So why are they trying to incentivise something that's already successful?

Are you being obtuse on purpose or just out of habit? People with micro-USB drives already have a mUSB->A cable lying around, so throw in C->A cable and they are all set for the time being. Same with USB 3. Or throw in three of those cables or a little passive USB hub.

Firewire or TB2 needs an active adapter, so it's a bit different than just including a cable that costs like $1 in production just to get them started. Furthermore, everyone has USB peripherals, but not everyone has TB2 or FW anymore.

I remember the IIci including a wired microphone and the white MB a IR remote. But that was the Apple of then. Now is now.

The Ultrafine 5K is currently unavailable :(.

Probably not a bad thing because that gives me some time to actually think about it instead of doing my usual trigger-happy shopping.

Glad to see Apple reacting to consumer outcry and toning down the greed a bit.
