Not surprising at all. iMac is by far the best desktop computer on the market, the MacBook is great, and hopefully new MacBook Pros will continue that trend.

I would add a personal anecdote. I will never forget when Apple replaced a two year old notebook because it broke down for the 4th time. They literally called to say "We're sorry. This isn't the kind of experience we want for our customers."

Then they asked if it would be okay to replace this machine with a brand new one - two generations ahead - and I said... Ah, yeah? Yeah, that would be fine. LOL

Looks like you won the Apple lottery.

Hope you do know that with statistics, there are error bars for values (example, plus or minus 5%). That means it's possible Samsung is better according to this survey cause Apple was only 1% better

Just new phone colors? Is that all?

You forgot about the new water resistance rating, a new display that DisplayMate rates the highest, a new dual camera system, a new processor that's 40% faster than the previous model (and 2x the iPhone 6), a new operating system, longer battery life, etc. Yes, just new phone colors.

And those watch bands! The standard go-to hackneyed tech forum meme that anyone still in junior high school can quickly trot out. Just add a nah nah ni nah, nah for bonus points and forum approval. Not picking on you, but that's standard fare, here.

Probably forgot the new improved model that's water resistance rated, with GPS, faster, brighter display, and much better OS with expanded fitness profiles.

Okay Tim, no need to get upset.

We are SOOOOOOOOOO ready for that exciting magical pipeline that hasn't been better in 25 years.

Outwaiting you patiently until you make what I want.

Right now that's just an MBP and the iPhone 8 or 9S, plus a larger iPad Pro.

Since I am 64, I may need that self driving car by the time it comes out.

But phones already have their own category. It's conceptually easy to have four categories: phones, tablets, laptops/notebooks, and desktop/personal computers.

And the surface goes where?

Is that juvenile snark really necessary?

5 of us read an article about PC customer satisfaction of customers who recently purchased products. 5 of us commented about cellphones. The survey was "measuring" customer's satisfaction with their purchase, not with a company portfolio of products. It would be interesting to hear what a Note 7 owner thinks of Samsung's response to the issue. Might not be what some of us think. Maybe @GrumpyMom can weigh in. Mom? :)

Wonder if the interviews were before or after the melting Samsung smartphone problems.

Might be a different score if recent Samsung customers were surveyed.

If Apple starts shipping exploding phones to customers, will they move up 6% also?

This was almost definitely conducted BEFORE the Samsung phones started exploding.

Was the polling of this survey completed before or after the Note 7 fiasco?

Samsung consumers just love EXPLODING BATTERIES :D

i'm 36, and I'm not convinced we'll see this magical new pipeline by the time i'm 64, sorry :(

and I still have that same question. Where do hybrids go. What is the distinction to say "this is a tablet" or "this is a computer" for categorization, or, is it time to create a new category. And if we do that, what are the requirements. Is the iPad pro a tablet or a Laptop? Is the Surface Pro a tablet or a laptop? What about windows powered tablets that aren't hyrids? what about ... it goes on.

I don't have an answer. I can see a surface pro working in both Tablet and Laptop categories, but you don't want to double count them.

That story doesn't pass the smell test. I'm certain you are lying.

Apple support isn't terrible now, But it was absolutely STELLAR about 5-10 years ago. I cn believe it. Heck, they STILL do on occasion nice acts like that. My Niece broke the display on her iPad Mini 2 a few weeks ago. So we went to the Apple store. I told her, that unfortunately, her carelessness was probably going to cost her money (she had been saving up money for a bit and had collected $200), I fully told her expect that they will expect her to pay to fix / replace it.

sure enough. the guy at the store did a pure solid and outright replaced it for free. (I was not expecting that at all)

I kind of wish that he didn't, because She broke it again, which clearly shows she didn't learn a lesson. This time she's being made to live with the broken screen as a bit of punishment for her carelessness (it still works, just a crack through the middle of the display)

No, they did the same for my mom's iMac since it had continuously broken down (HDD, logic board, and GPU) and been repaired until it was out of warranty, and she paid for one HDD repair after warranty and had it fail again. The Apple Retail Store near us wouldn't do anything about it, but she went to a different one later and told them how much **** she had to deal with using that iMac... She had a 2012 27" iMac and got a new (2014? I forget) 5K 27" iMac. This was half a year ago.

While I believe your story (read mine above)

my question is: if you are consistently having failures with the same manufacturer over and over, why do you continue to stick with it? Regardless of Manufacturer if I had the issues you listed I'd be looking elsewhere fast.

You can see why their priorities are where they are.
That would suggest that Mac should be higher than iPad.

By manufacturer, do you mean Apple? I'm not setting up a Hackintosh for my mother; she can hardly use an iMac without corrupting the OS. Her next Mac will probably not be an iMac, though. The Mac Pro has always been solid, so maybe she'll get a used one (since a new one would be overkill for her).

BTW, I read your story. Surprised they fixed a broken screen due to negligence. In my mom's case, it really wasn't her fault. The guy at the store was asking if we stuck magnets on it or something because the HDD failed three times within one year, lol.

Good job, Apple. Their customer service is always top notch...atleast from my experience.

Now I do have to LOL at the title of this thread. Had Samsung been number 1, the article would've read "Samsung and Apple top customer service satisfaction survey" Lol but it's whatev, congrats :apple:

yeah, jI don't really recommend hackintoshes for those who are not able to support themselves with their computer. I'm running one, and it is not without the odd bug / hiccup.

But Apple has made it harder these days to justify buying a mac computer

And everyone needs to run Autodesk products of course. What is a desktop for you does not have to be a desktop for someone else, and I say that as someone not using an iPad as desktop replacement. I have a Hackintosh for that, or the 2015 rMBP, which is quite powerful for my video editing needs (I could play back 16 tracks for ProRes Proxy material in the angle viewer, and the Library was on a measly mobile USB 3.0 HDD).

Until the iPad can do that, I have to stay away from those kinds of computers. Or are we still stuck in the 1980s, when Personal Computers were something else than they are today?

The ipad isn't for me. It simply can't replace a traditional desktop. Unless the iPad pro were to come with, say, MacOS on it. But that would go against their idea of trying to make good desktops / laptops separate from good tablets, rather than trying to shove them together in a mediocre contraption. But lenovo and microsoft have developed hybrids that work rather well to address that problem. As a consumer I'd rather just have one device handle everything rather than having two or three separate things handle different tasks. It's just inconvenient.

But realistically, as a student I have to operate with certain software. Using the app store to download lite programs as an alternative to autodesk just isn't practical. Truth be told I feel like apple is simply drifting away from users who require more freedom. Which is a shame, really. I remember when Macs were the go-to if you wanted to run Adobe apps. The tech behind them was so simple and yet perfect for video and photo editing. Heck, even Avid qualifies macs as certified workstations.

I've seen trends that I find outright offensive, though. They couldn't be bothered to add a second port on their macbooks. The mac pro is running on old tech. They removed CPU cores from the mac mini for reasons I can't comprehend. And there's also the infamous audio jack. To say this is innovation is simply an insult to their customers.

If they would stop touting their iPads as desktop replacements then I'd agree with you. But iPads do not have a practical use. If it can run Autodesk then I'd have nothing to complain about.
Sure, except teaching my children piano. Other than that and a million other things, no practical use. I agree not a computer replacement but the form factor is great for many practical things.

For a minute I had my hopes up for decent Macintosh computer rumors.

This is okay news I guess, but some of this line is long due for a refresh.

I hate to admit it but I still have my fingers crossed for an updated, FRESH, 17" Macbook Pro.

(don't wake me up from that dream please!)
