Awesome, can't wait to get one. I like the budgeting features, integration with Apple Pay (which I use constantly) and cash back. Interest rates aren't anything special, but I don't keep a balance on my cards so not too worried.

They should worry about getting their roadmaps to be compelling with their core products before getting into financial services.

Bit much of invasion of privacy when one company has all your fingerprint, 3D face map, health, email history, internet usage, location tracking, spending, credit reports, etc. That's a lot to put in one basket if another iCloud security leak occurs.

Most of the critical info is stored on device. Plus, there was never an iCloud security leak that I am aware of, just a phishing scam. Apple isn't perfect, but so far they have a pretty good history when it comes to protecting user data.

Good info. I didn't realize it was also 2% for Apple Pay purchases. Just not a lot of places where I am take apple Pay (or the business just doesn't know how to do it).
That's part of Apple's strategy with this - to encourage more people to use Apple Pay. That in turn puts pressure on businesses to support it. It's a slow process but Apple is making headway.

The only thing I can see to get excited about is for apple purchases.... help me if I'm wrong.

I have a Capital One Silver - 1.5% cash back (better than apple)
And a Amazon Card - 5% on Amazon purchases, 2% on gas and such...

So, how is this Apple Card anything to get excited about outside of the obvious Apple purchases?

This is so so card, and it is not even good for Apple purchases. I would rather use my Citi Coscto Visa to buy anew iMac than this card, since Citi Costco Visa gets me 2 additional years of warranty on top of regular %1 cash back. So in other words, I would rather sacrafice 1% of cash back (which probably not net you that much anyway) and get 2 extra years of warranty.

I do like the look of the card, but I question it's need, at least in my case.
1) I have a Citi DoubleCash card that gives me 2% back on everything and works perfectly well with Apple Pay.
2) I could get an Amazon card that would give me 5% back on Amazon purchases. (I need to figure out how much that would actually return to me.)
3) The Apple Card does give back 3% on Apple purchases, so I could save a bit more on my Apple Music subscription. (About $1.20 a year..lol)
4) For other Apple products, how often does one need to drop hundreds or thousands on a new MacBook, Watch, etc? And now, B&H Photo just introduced their "Payboo" card which rebates whatever your sales tax is. Being in NYC, that's a 8.875% savings. When I buy a new Apple Watch later this year, why go to Apple and pay sales tax when B&H is willing to give me back that amount?

Finally, I checked my credit score the other day, it was 845 (Seriously, 845 out of 850), so getting the Apple Card isn't a problem. If I want it, they'll gladly hand me one.

I actually dislike the Goldman Sachs and Mastercard logos on the back A LOT, ugh, waste of space. The mag stripe makes it look meh.

The last question for a UK user: will it even be contactless enabled? I know Apple Pay is there for that reason but when a friend/family visits and we go through London public transport I just let them use my physical card while I pay via Apple Pay. Not even sure they'll be able to offer the Card here anyway, it's been years since Apple Cash was introduced in the USA and there's not a peep about it coming here.

Exactly what I was thinking!
Where’s the security in that?
If I lose the card, anyone can use it!
Apple, how about you remove the mag stripe and require a PIN code with that chip… you know, like the rest of the world already does.
Seriously, where’s the innovation in this card, no name on it? That’s it!?!

I didn't hear this in the keynote, so it's pure speculation, but the fact that this card needs to be paired to your phone (as shown in this article) suggests that maybe you authenticate via Apple Pay when using the card in a non-Apple Pay way. Like the merchant swipes the card, your authenticate on the phone, the merchant gets their authorization code from MC. This could also get around the need for signature matching typically used with Mag Stripe purchases, since it doesn't seem to have a signature box on the card.

If it worked that way (again, still purely speculative) then that would be innovative. A terrible user experience, having to pull out both wallet and phone, but still innovative.

Personally though, I wouldn't be using one. My current Visa/MC cards, aside from having comparable cash-back rates, also provide benefits I require for work travel, like rental car insurance. There has been no discussions about those kinds of benefits so I wouldn't be able to use it for work expenses, which is 99% of what I use cards for (the other 1% is my Netflix subscription).

Everything wrong with Apple and the current management.

Hows about releasing a MacPro that is in any way upto date?

Or a MacBook that has a keyboard that works reliably.

Or phones designed to be repaired, at least enough to replace the battery.

Nope, this card besides the look is very lame! I will get it anyway, but will not be using it as my daily card as I already got 2 daily cards that are much better.

Why get one anyway?

You are just reenforcing Apple's opinion it can sell its customers any old crap and they will lap it up.

I can't believe the level of fanboyism for some folks with this. I get 2% on all purchases on a Visa, which is taken everywhere unlike MasterCard. Physical or Apple Pay, doesn't matter, 2% all the time.

Also I don't get why some people are so hyped about the look of it when the the whole point of Apple Pay, to get the 2% CB, is that you don't have to carry a card around. It's just a flip'n card that other CC's have better benefits. Numbers folks, do that actual math.

But it's so shiny! It's designed by Apple!

Everyone is making their own credit cards suddenly, even B&H. I dunno why, but it's annoying. Kinda just wastes everyone's time.

Stores have had their own credit cards for decades. The difference is now stores are making credit cards that work anywhere. Of course, Sears did that decades ago, and airlines have been all over that idea for ages too.

How do you lose a trip to Europe by getting a 2% Apple card instead of a different rewards card for a one-off six month application slot? Very few people churn Chase cards in any case.

If you really are applying for so many Chase cards, be prepared to have them all closed out, regardless of 5/24.

5/24 means ANY card, not just Chase cards. If Chase sees you have gotten over 5 cards (any cards) in 24 months you get denied. And Chase is not going to close out all of your Chase cards if you have several Chase cards.

Finally, I checked my credit score the other day, it was 845 (Seriously, 845 out of 850), so getting the Apple Card isn't a problem. If I want it, they'll gladly hand me one.

I'm in the same boat. The only usage case for me is if I wanted to use Apple Pay Cash now that they've removed the ability to use it with any other credit card. I don't have a debit card. That's not compelling enough to me.
