And now we see that Apple were playing the (really) long game when they discontinued Forstall’s Apple ‘Cards’ app… it was extreme preparation for Apple Card ;):D

Another sign that Apple can no longer innovate, sad, unfortunately. They're lost the mojo and reverting to Business101. The bean counters are in charge, nothing good can come from this.

I am curious to see how long the introduction will take in Europe, where Goldman Sachs Bank Europe SE will operate.

If you still believe that this is just another CC, you cannot be helped...
There is currently a dramatic upheaval in the monetary business. Some things also come to the public (e.g. Wirecard).
Some people don't understand most of it until it's there. Or if all acquaintances and friends already have it ;-)

On the contrary, as high-margin services become a higher proportion of revenue, Apple can afford to take less margin on hardware. That’s not just good, that’s great.

I expect some special financing deals available for certain September purchases, as well.

Magstripe? Why on earth would you keep a magstripe on the card??
Exactly what I was thinking!
Where’s the security in that?
If I lose the card, anyone can use it!
Apple, how about you remove the mag stripe and require a PIN code with that chip… you know, like the rest of the world already does.
Seriously, where’s the innovation in this card, no name on it? That’s it!?!

Bit much of invasion of privacy when one company has all your fingerprint, 3D face map, health, email history, internet usage, location tracking, spending, credit reports, etc. That's a lot to put in one basket if another iCloud security leak occurs.
Most of that stuff is not in iCloud, but on the device. Nobody has been able to access the Secure Enclave where biometrics are stored.

But of course you know all this - just trying to troll.

It’s always highly amusing when Android users bring up (untrue) “invasion of privacy” stuff like this.

Your Android device and Google services, which you happily use, are some of the most invasive data collection means ever on this planet.

(Also, I don’t understand why Android folks waste their time on MR. There are plenty of Android forums where you can discuss where to download some APK without having to pay $0,99 for it in Play store, and so on)

You’d be surprised how far behind we are here in the US when it comes to debit/credit card payment processing. Mag stripe-only equipment is everywhere here. It’s nothing to do with Apple.

True, though the card companies have said for some time that if a merchant doesn’t upgrade to chip readers (a deadline that has passed I believe) the merchant will be taking the burden of fraud risk.

I guess Apple really needs some other revenue streams to compensate for falling market share/sales -

Apple Card is a new kind of credit card though.

How so? What does an Apple MasterCard do that a regular MasterCard cannot do...?
For the record: I don't - and won't ever again - use iOS gadgets in my personal life, so Apple Pay or iPhone/iPad integration are no selling arguments for me (rather the opposite). So when that is off the table, what is left that could possibly make this a better credit card than the one that I got from my bank?

Nobody is telling you that you have to use it. You were surprised people you were interested in this thing , now you know it’s because not everyone shares your user case.

Costco doesn't take Mastercard sso that's one place you can't use it.

2008: Tech is gonna save us from the big bad banks!

2019: Let's give Goldman our data through Apple who's supposedly protecting our data!

Thanks, Tim -_-
iOS and OS X have a user agreement before you can even use it. You think your data is protected, hahahaahahaha

People choose cards because they look cool. These do not look cool, they look like an employee pass.

Monzo cards are talked about because of their color, can't tell you how many people have asked "What card is that?" with my Monzo card. That's part of the reason Monzo have gown so quickly.

IPhone with Apple watch and airpods.

Subscribed to iCloud, Apple Music, video+, apple arcade, news+ and paying with the apple credit card.

Ain’t that the dream?

Imagine trying to make a contactless payment with an Apple Credit Card which doesn't go through, and the sales assistant says "You're holding it wrong".
