No way am I gonna eat up a 5/24 with this. It’s a terrible financial move.

I’m lost on this Apple Card thing.
Can you explain what 5/24 is?
Other than the Apple factor, what makes this different than other credit cards?

So does 5 Guys, at least where I live. Plenty of businesses that take Samsung Pay but not Apple Pay, which makes no sense to me because Apple Pay doesn't increase the merchant's swipe fees.
Samsung Pay uses MST (Magnetic Swipe Technology) that emulates swiping a card so it can be used anywhere and NFC, Apple Pay only uses NFC so the terminal has to support the new tech for it to work, that's why you're seeing they except Samsung Pay which they technically don't but since the terminal thinks you're swiping a card it works

You only have to be concerned about 5/24 if you’re a churner. It means some banks won’t let you open more than 5 credit cards in a 24 month period.

I just cannot be excited about this. Benefits are way better with AmEx Plat.

I'm a big AMEX fan, I've had a Gold Card for almost 20 years now. Unfortunately, my health and my finances will preclude any serious travel for the next few years (assuming I survive my surgeries). IMHO, this is the primary benefit from the Gold to the Platinum card with AMEX. The access to the airport lounges, and the upfront refund for global pass/PRE Check.

Whenever I purchase a new tech product, I use my AMEX for the extended warranty. I really don't need the tech support offered by AppleCare, I enjoy troubleshooting my own software problems, and the platform is pretty straightforward, IMHO. By the time I burn through the extended warranty, I'm usually close to being ready for something new anyway and usually either sell or hand down my old computer/phone, etc.

I have about 4 years to go to draw a pension at my raw end of an aershole state job (this includes my PPO insurance, which is what I really want to keep). To be honest, last year of your career no one around here does shiet. Six months of that will be on short term disability for heart surgery, and assuming success there, another 6-8 for my transplant.

I'm hoping to get a new gig that involves some sort of travel, then I will upgrade to the platinum for the travel benefits. Have a few irons in the fire. But, by the time you factor in vacation and time out for surgery, by the time I make it to the finish line, I have a total of about a year and a half of actual duty time left when you factor in my vacation (this does not include sick time and holidays). That's assuming I'm still alive, but I'm a stubborn old bastard so I suspect I'll make it.

I'll sign up for the Apple card simply for the fanboy factor, etc. I admit it. It has no fee, and it's one more payment option at hand...

Can't wait to get hold of one just for the heck of it. :D

Apple does not have most of that stuff. They don’t have your fingerprint, they don’t have your face map, they only have your email history if you use them for email, they don’t have your internet usage, they don’t have your spending etc. Most of that is not even on iCloud.

The original poster poster probably knows, but just being negative.

But Facebook knows what color your poop is.....

Who users magstrips these days ? An't most all chip based now? or those use still prefer the ATM. I guess "cashless" would be good... Many ATM's allow this. and even this is better than a magstrip.

We'd get excited just to see a pudding roll down a hill as well.
You shouldn’t ever use a credit card at an ATM, unless you love cash advance fees.

But debit cards, a lot of ATMs have Apple Pay now.

5 Guys here has Chip & Apple Pay. Doesn’t help I don’t like their burgers though

It's not only the credit risk. Merchants pay pay extra fees just from a customer using Amex, and the customer gets extra benefits from it too. Like, why? I'm glad people have been rejecting it so hard.

we use square and don't pay extra for amex customers.
