Agreed, it's better to encourage good health than just rain candy from the sky. But I'm also in the "healthcare as human right" camp. Healthcare shouldn't be a reward for being employed or shackle an unhappy employee to a company.Right, but the reward in this case would be funds towards health, not a Porsche 😁
If greater benefits are given to those with better health, those who have the greater need will pay the higher cost. If that greater need were solely due to a person's actions it would be one thing, but many health conditions are completely beyond a person's control. "You didn't exercise, so you'll have to pay a higher percentage of your congenital disease treatments" doesn't seem at all just to me.
People shouldn't need encouragement to do what's in their own best interest, but we do. The question is, what kind of encouragement? That's why I stressed commemoration over reward. As they say, "Good health is its own reward."
