I spent a few months on FF, Chrome, Safari and Opera. Safari is my favourite by far followed by Opera (not sure why) and then Chrome and FF tie in third place. FF is awesome for being honest and secure but it is such a heavy clunky thing. Chrome is a bit clunky and not so honest. Safari is quick and awesome. Opera is fast and honest but seems like it had its attention out the window in Browser school. I still love Opera for some reason though.

tried it and still not impressed. Safari is still lacking in the add on/extensions department. i prefer firefox.

I'm really liking Safari now, it's quick and looks really nice... but the extensions are pretty poor, Chrome has a fantastic YouTube extension called MagicActions which makes the YouTube video widescreen, centred and blacks the rest of the page out.

If it weren't for the extensions, I would!

No youtube magic actions for safari, and youtube wide does not make up for that.

In chrome, scaling is uniform. In safari, I have to do it per page EACH TIME. I used an extension and it was buggy, and cut a lot of texts esp the comments on threads and on youtube.

Staying with chrome on iMac since i use this 90% of the time, safari for macbook.

Magic Actions is amazing isn't it! < That and multiple profiles are the two main reasons I'll keep sticking with Chrome.

The exact same pop up happens when you start up Firefox or Chrome if Safari is your default browser.

So is Firefox or Chrome "begging" you to change over ? Is it "low" for Firefox or Chrome ?

How about Internet Explorer ?

Yes, it's a bit low for all of them. Usually Apple stays above stuff like this. That's why it's disappointing. I can't actually recall the last time Apple used a similar tactic.

Does the adblocker actually work now?

That's the only reason I use chrome. Safari adblocking extensions don't block as many ads as chrome does.

What about the piss poor design, especially in Yosemite? Chrome doesn't follow any guidelines. What about the non-standard notifications, the big battery drain, the fact that it isn't 32-bit, can't run java apps, is slower, the rogue "google update services" process that you can't ever uninstall without searching for it in the web, etc.? What about built in flash that you can't ever get ride off (totally)?

For Android users using a Mac, like me, it has some conveniences: But damn, is it frustrating and crap compared with Safari.

Safari requires Java some things and I refuse to deal with Java.

No. This is wrong. Safari doesn't require JAVA. In fact Safari removes and disables Java.

You do not want java. Only safari leaves Java uninstalled by default.
I haven't used java in years and refuse to do so.

There is no reason to use a site that requires you to activate a JAVA plugin. You should never do this in my opinion. You would give a stranger full root access on your computer would you?

I'm shocked people still use Chrome (other than people that depend of Chrome extensions) since it has become almost dog slow over the past few years.

Needs to be updated for 64-bit ASAP.

But Safari is simply a speed demon and got to love iCloud Tabs!

I'm yet to upgrade my MacBook Pro to Yosemite and to try new Safari, but have to be honest never been a fan of it on the Mac (big fan on my iPhone and iPad), and use Chrome as the extensions available are far better (yes alot of bloatware and useless crap but also a lot of very good extensions), and being able to sign in with one of my gmail accounts I setup just for using work links and log in on any machine across the business and being able to pull all my bookmarks over by just logging into my account (as there are very few Mac users in the business) is a bit of a killer feature, and Chrome is as far as I know across all platforms....

Having said that I saw someone in an earlier post said that you can get AdBlock Plus now on Safari, and if you've never used it, it will revolutionize your web browsing experience....I HATE adverts, and there are certain sites I would just never visit if I didn't have AdBlock Plus installed, and certain sites I stopped visiting because advertising is usually just too much for me!

Maybe I'll give NEW SNAPPIER Safari a go when I've upgraded, but heard there were problems with Parallels 9 and Yosemite, Parallels working is paramount to me in my job

Also, if Chrome or Firefox is your default browser, when you open safari the next time it will ask if you want to make safari your default.

Honestly, it felt a little low for Apple. If I want to make safari my default, I'll do it without apple begging me to change over.

Yeah, that move is sooooo.... Internet Explorer

i think the problem with safari is the initial load. You stare at that blank screen too long before it resolves and starts to load.

As soon as there is a version (or alternative for) plugins like: Screengrab and Downloadhelper I'll switch, but not until then...

Couldn't agree more, Safari on Yosemite is truly something else. It's also the most efficient and plays great with iOS devices, why even use those crap alternatives?

Why: Chrome dev tools.

Also: Chrome has built in Flash, convenient for those times when it's needed without have to install it.

No, it does not require it but some web sites do and when that happens I open the site in Chrome.

I use Chromium FreeSmug as I need flash content and all the Chrome features it offers. I'd like to see Safari play vp9 format like Opera does as I really would prefer Safari on the Mac but we have choices don't we?

And where the hell are the favicons?

The bookmarks in Safari 8... what a mess.
No favicons - try to swim in that white swamp and thin tiny text.
Things that look good ain't good when they offer no usability.
