Once a hater always a hater. Obvious this revolution doesn't concern you so go far far away.

Introducing hater-hating.

It's kind of persecuting chauvinists and setting them on fire. Except that in this occasion, he/she expressed a personal opinion that might be not against Apple at all but to a device that he doesn't believe in; and you sent him/her away?!

What kind of twisted morale is that?

Is a Ferrari more than twice as powerful as a Kia if the Ferrari breaks down every day so it takes you twice as long to get where you're going?

I'm sorry, but I've never had a Kia and I would never buy one. Which Ferrari do you mean? I don't think that Kia sells anything that is as much as half as powerful as the weakest Ferrari. You don't know much about Ferraris, do you?!

But if I may get anal about this, the iPad is more like a scooter or a motorbike, whereas netbooks might represent small cars. The parallel with the different OS makes this idea even more suitable than this stupid BMW/Ferrari argument which, even with MacBook Pros, is false. I've had 3 BMWs altogether and I can tell you that they had BMW parts. MacBook Pros have parts that you may find in a Nissan, sorry, Toshiba.

I'm shocked no one in the mainstream media hasn't called out Steve Jobs on his "better than a Netbook" claim yet.

As it is now, the iPAD intrigues me, but I'm not biting.

Feel free to point to me where he actually says that. I have no problem if you find that, I'm not looking to prove you wrong but during the keynote I don't remember Jobs saying that, I remember him saying that "Netbooks aren't better at anything".

Damn if the iPad takes off, a lot of people will be eating crow.

I think a lot of dismay is about the current state of the iPad. The lack of features and the price. The hype did ruin it for a lot of hard core fans. Not for me - I was never one. I just keep buying Apple products. But I miss this one.

That's the point. Many feel that it's half-baked; and in its design, too much thought went into revenue-generating and not a lot into usability.

I will be laughing at you for carrying this big piece of glass around wondering what to do with it. Oh, wait you can pay for the 600,000 apps that Apple says you can have and they do nothing.
:D

this is not an example of honest disagreement and useful debate.

then you truly don't understand what the iPad is. keep using your netbook.

this must be a really sad day for you :D

Rev B happens. Camera happens. Price reduction happens.

I don't think so. Revision B will be introduced next year beginning of April, possibly with a camera.

A price reduction before that time is totally out of the question. It is clear that Apple is selling them like hotcakes now, so why lower the price? The only thing that could possible happen would be a price reduction of certain models that are currently not being picked up.. I wonder what the distribution of orders across the different models is now.

Apparently, you've never owned a Ferrari. They don't break down every day and are generally trouble free. Also, the typical Ferrari is much more powerful than any KIA. Just my $.02 worth

wow -- I figured that if Apple averaged $650 per sale, 50K in two hours is $32.5M!! Unreal.

Personally, I contributed $829 to the Cause! Yeah, I sprung for the big boy!

Yea, Apple!

Does anyone know why apple is not taking iBooks to the U.K immediately. I was going to get one as it came out but now that I know this, why bother.

They are probably still working out deals with UK publishers. This needs to be done country by country, so it's a time-consuming process.

You can get e-books from other sources (Amazon, B&N and whatever) and import these in the iBooks application. There is no reason why you wouldn't be able to read e-books on an iPad without the iBooks store in your country.

Too late. The Apple haters have already made up their minds. This thing could cure cancer and they'd say "Well cancer has been known since 3000 BC. It took Apple 5013 years to develop a solution? Talk about behind the curve!"

That got a chuckle out of me.

He is in for a BIG, BIG disappointment then...hopefully he doesn't live in a high building where he is able to jump out of a window.

It's absolutely amazing how clueless these trolls are, repeating again and again the same mistakes when demanding that Apple build a device with all features crammed in. No wonder they continue to quote Windows-fanboy nonsense such as Enderle's articles.

MS IS DEAD. AND SO IS DELL.

But Steve Jobs specifically criticized NETBOOKS in his keynote address! LOL

Therein lies the problem and why I'm waiting for Revision B or C of this device.

And furthermore, the iPAD doesn't replace anything I already own.

Yes, it's cool, I'd like to play with one, but after my geeky giddiness is over, what is it good for?

It doesn't surf the web correctly.

It doesn't act like a netbook, can't run 2 programs at the same time.

It doesn't have a camera.
