2 questions:

- Does the new iPad pro have the ability to boot Big Sur? That would be amazing if on the go and wanted a tablet sometimes and a computer for others

- Does the iMac support egpu or do I need to give up on that dream with apple silicon?

The event was overall good. I wished there were more ports on the iMac though. It should’ve been a bit cheaper. And the fact they sell the 2017 iMac is crazy. Guess we’ll still be buying 2017 iMacs for a while then...

Here is my honest take; and you won’t agree but it’s my opinion; apple has lost everything that used to make it great,
I'm honestly curious: What exactly made it great that differs from now?

all the updates are minor,
I personally would not categorize the complete redesign of the iMac, an entry into a new product category, and putting a desktop-class chip on the iPad Pro as "minor".

the airtags I don’t see the point,
One of the best features of Apple's ecosystem is "Find My". Now you can add that to anything you can lose. One instance of having lost your wallet with your driver's license, credit cards, insurance cards, etc in it, then having to spend an entire day at the DMV, another on the phone with banks and your insurance carrier and you'll understand the point REAL quick.

Apple TV has a way old chip and nothing really new still over priced,
It has been upgraded from the remote to the output, but I don't care about it so I won't argue this one.

the new iMac is well in my opinion disgusting it looks like a Lenovo all in one, it now makes the old one look nicer, the new one just looks like a kids computer now.
The silver one looks very similar (perhaps better in my eyes) to the outgoing one from the front, and the colored ones are a matter of taste, although I also don't like where they went with the colored ones. I am happy that colors are out there again though. I do like the thinness and magnetic connector and Ethernet on the brick quite a bit. Even the braided power cable and matching color peripherals are cool.

The iPad Pro is kinda cool but again all this power and hardware just to run iOS apps there is nothing my 2018 can’t run on it so what’s the point, am I missing something but where is the wow factor gone;
You mean ALSO run iOS apps, but I can be fairly certain your 2018 will not run the same apps LIKE THIS NEW ONE.
However, if what you want is a Mac in an iPad body and you're not really into and what the iPad really is then this device was never for you to begin with. Just because a car and a truck have the same V8 in it doesn't mean they'll both perform the same on and off the road.

as usual the hype before an event is always a lot better,
Can't argue against personal preferences

about spend to much time talking about climate change in these events,
These things matter to us lefties and/or centrists and give us another reason to invest in Apple besides their products, and Apple knows it.

I am upset because a company I love has gone so down hill; yeah they make a lot of money but speaking from a huge apple fan I just don’t get excited anymore;
I was in that same place back in 2012, when they started soldering everything, and going to the flat design I used to hate (it grew on me after 9 years or so), so I understand your pain. When iOS 7 came out I went Samsung Galaxy and never looked back until this year. Perhaps it is time to try a different company to see if they're a better fit for you.

anyways respect my views

Great:
- Colour returns to iMacs!
- Matching accessories
- Touch ID desktop keyboards
- M1 in iPads
- MiniLED debuts

Good:
- Redesigned Siri remote with click wheel
- Thread support in Apple TV
- HDMI 2.1 in Apple TV
- Colour balance in Apple TV
- AirTags finally (water resistant, long lasting user replaceable battery, customisable is cute)
- Ted Lasso in July!
- Redesigned Podcast app
- I guess we are waiting for bigger iMacs until we have M1X/M2

Meh:
- Purple iPhone
- Podcast Subscriptions
- Apple Card still US only
- Nothing new on the HomeKit front
- I guess we are not getting a new pencil...?
- ...or AR finding in Find My?

WTF:
- ZERO gaming story for Apple TV. None. It's dead Jim
- No Spatial Audio in new Apple TV???
- No U1 in redesigned remote
There is almost guaranteed announcements in software in the WWDC especially for iPad.

No. This is highly unlikely, but WWDC is happening soon. People underestimate the difficulty involved in doing the dual-boot thing well. The Surface ain't it, and I'm sure Apple WON'T stoop that low.

Dream is dead, my friend. Apple is still selling Intel iMacs and MacBooks though.

You forgot "mmmm... Purple"
Redesign is subjective, many people don't care, some hate, some love - it just shuffling the audience - no actual value.
New product. Is it new for market? Is it innovative? Not too much. The silly part, that Apple lost the ball with it from the start: why didn't they embed their own airtag into their own remote?
M1 in iPad. This is just hilarious. Empty gimmick. You can put anything in iPad, but while it's utilized for under 1%, what the point? Answer is: Sales!
Look up M1 Mac tests on Youtube, where some show that RAM size may not matter like it used to.
This is a good joke.

Another useless event with useless products nobody needs. Meanwhile, my headphones won't connect to my iPhone, my Macbook Pro can't maintain wi-fi, my Mac Mini can't run a second monitor (gotta buy a $6k Mac Pro for that privilege), and generally nothing works anymore. It's ok though, we now have 5 million Animoji to choose from and can take selfies with a $2,000 gigantic iPad.

Speak for yourself.

Pretty decent lineup. Nothing groundbreaking, but suggests a few things I would love to see expanded in the future.

  • air-tags style location tracking for the AirPods case
  • touch-id on a magic keyboard with num-pad (contingent on other M1 models being able to pair with it)

No. Sorry. The iMac redesign is objectively major. The ONLY things this iMac shares with it's predecessor is the silver mouse on the silver model, and the name. Everything is new, down to the braided power cable. Even the OS that runs on it is a different build than that on the intel iMac.

The iPad Pro now has the muscle to run more powerful apps with ease, handle eternal monitors as expected, operate in broad daylight with that ridiculously bright screen, and the clincher for me: no longer needing to be upgraded every two years. Believe me, I will utilize the hell out of the new iPad capabilities. I've been waiting for 11 years for this thing to get here. It is all the computer I'll ever need for the next 10 years, if the last 10 is any indication. The M1 is proven to be a powerhouse chip. You really think it won't have an impact in app performance? This is far from emoji/touch bar gimmickry.

AirTags are a new Apple product, and innovative in how we use them, and a new revenue stream from Apple. I'm a current Tile customer, and if these AirTags work as advertised they'll integrate nicely into my all-Apple ecosystem.

Then again, people raged against the iPod as "just another MP3 player" and the iPad as "just a large iPod Touch", and AirPods as "just expensive headphones", the Watch, etc, etc.

I cannot argue against subjective things like taste, perceived value, whether a product is for you, etc. One man's gimmick is another man's killer feature.

In that sense, the arguments towards the glass being half-full or half-empty are both true, and both valid.

Very underwhelming. The new iMac is an iPad Pro on a stand (with Big Sur and no touch screen). Or is the new iPad Pro an iMac without a stand (with iPadOS and a touchscreen)? Why are these still two separate devices with two separate operating systems at this point? When is Apple going to finally commit and make this a true hybrid ecosystem?

That aside, I like the new Apple TV remote. Don’t really have any personal use for Airtags at the moment, but might pick one up someday.

iMac…eh…Maybe apple needs to look at hiring Microsoft and having their team design the AIO’s. The studio AIO has been out for many years and as design goes is still way ahead of iMac. Add apple specs it would be perfect machine for my work.

I thought the white bezel on the iMacs looked familiar and then it struck me:

...now hold on while I predict the lottery numbers for 17 years into the future. ;)

The new iMac is perfect for someone like my wife. She prefers laptops so she can take them upstairs/downstairs easily but also wanted a bigger display.

I just realized there was no new Apple Pencil announcement, though it was somewhat heavily rumored with photo leaks.

Agree...Rather have new iMac with NO CHIN and humped rear!
Just to be clear, you mean you would rather have a humped rear than have a chin, right?
Personally, wouldn’t make much difference to me either way. The space below the monitor would be kinda useless anyway. But this way you could stick post it notes on the chin haha.
