Yeah I'm generally just hear to take the piss out of the event name, add comedy heckling, or to see others moan because established technology/products generally aren't completely revolutionary every single year (yet some people can't help but keep replacing their perfectly good stuff on an annual basis because they have more money than sense).

After threatening it for years but never getting around to it, my girlfriend finally replaced her 2011 Macbook this weekend. Now that's a truly revolutionary upgrade! High Sierra(?) to Sonoma and some old intel chip with integrated graphics to M4 will be quite noticeable! If it's not at least somewhat exciting or noticeably improved why are you thinking of upgrading?
A respect worthy post. Bravo.

Don’t we already know everything about the iPhone 17 lineup, considering Jon Prosser leaked it and Apple are suing him

Apple is adding a FLIR camera to the iPhone. /s

iPhone 17 Pro with FLIR 😉
I hope not. If Apple introduces an iPhone w/ a thermal imager it'll be a bigger gimmick than the MacBook Pro Touch Bar. Thermal imagers are a niche market - anyone who needs one has one. Anyone who "might use one one some projects" can buy any number of devices from several different brands that are already compatible with the iPhone.

FWIW, FLIR is a brand name that is often (and incorrectly) used as a generic term for a thermal imaging device. They're in a league of legends along with Band-Aid, Scotch tape, and Kleenex.

MR stated "new, more durable build with an aluminum frame." I am curious about that claim, because I do not [yet] see how a new iPhone with an aluminum alloy frame can be more durable than the 16 Pro's titanium alloy frame. Unless of course the reference is to other than the alloy frame; certainly the glass components could be made more durable.

In any event, the 16 Pro iPhones are superb, so improving them was a challenge for Apple's engineers.

agreed.

Gone are the days when these events told us new and exciting things - instead its just 1.5 hours of confirming all the leaks and rumours weve been reading for the last 8 months.
One way that successful $T companies stay that way is by managing expectations [via "leaks and rumours"] to help maintain stable growth.

The iPhones that use titanium are nearly entirely aluminum. They only have a titanium facade. See the cross-section here:
Not so much a facade as an exterior frame made of titanium alloy. Aluminum alloys are generally much easier to work with, and it sounds like Apple engineers found an aluminum alloy that works for the exterior frame.
