Does anybody know what timed this special event will be taking place? Is anyone going to have a live text/photo feed?
I'm just getting excited about the release. I cannot wait to switch over to Apple and with the new top of the line machine to boot. Its been a tough long weekend here with no real news or rumours about the release. The antiticipation is killing me.
Does anyone know how long I can expect shipping to be if I make my purchase online and it is being shipped to Canada?

this new iMac has probably knocking around Apple headquaters and production plants around the world for a good few months now! How on earth do they do it?
I think that I heard that it was starting around 10:00 AM on the west coast, but I don't remember what thread I read that in. I don't think that MacRumors will have a feed for this event.
I haven't taken the time to read through this entire thread, so does anyone know if there has been a picture of the invitation to the event put out yet?
I've realized exactly what you've been saying since your first post. Dell products are easier to predict due to chipsets being released from Intel, competitors, etc... Doesn't change what I have been saying one bit.i see what you are saying, but you aren't seeing what i'm saying.
there is a difference here between a Dell and an Apple. let's say Intel is releasing new processors tomorrow. would you buy a Dell or an Apple now? no. but within the week, Dell will have the new computers out, and if they don't, then HP will, or someone else will. but Apple doesn't care about HP or Dell, or any other PC manufacturer.
you don't know when apple will put the new processors in their hardware, and you don't know when computers will use them, or any of this. but the main point is that apple has no competition. that's why you never know when they will use the new processors, or video cards, or whatever.[/URL]
Don't worry, you won't.as for mongoos150, i would never want to see you in the retail world.
I haven't missed those points, they are valid, but my point remains. Good post, I wholeheartedly agree with it.Look, Mongoos150 is saying that he's fed up with people whinging when their hardware quickly goes out of date, when they made the conscious decision to buy it. His point is fair, but he misses these key points:
1. Apple hardware updates are very rare and usually by the time they are released, the previous hardware has already been selling for loads of money when it's price no longer justifies it. For people who only use OS X, this means many people know they are paying a premium that no longer exists on a purchased Mac (e.g. No 2GB standard on Mac Pro).
2. Apple are extremely concerned about brand image
3. Apple want to shift as many of the new product as they can
I understand you have no real place to whinge, but going way back to the start of this debate, it is a falsehood to suggest that doing so will not get you a new iMac.
Ask for a return+upgrade, but if it doesn't work out, accept it.
We are agreed.
Much Ado.
they got some info from a source....
New Macbooks: no cosmetic changes, will be getting Santa Rosa chips.
Mac mini: total form change, all brushed aluminum and 15% smaller. Base model will have a 120GB HDD.
The iMacs will be, as rumored, brushed aluminum.
And as a bonus, "the new ipods will be rolling around mid-September."
Read the whole thread. That info was debunked.I thought MBs already had SR, or was that only MBPs?

NO - they get the computer they bought. Why do people think that Apple (or any other company) will intrinsically "give up" the sale they made in order to swap a customer's machine for a newer model!? If Mr. Johnson bought an iMac on Monday, and new iMacs ship Tuesday, he was a day early. He should have waited. He got the machine he paid for. Apple's a business, and part of making a profit is selling model X all the way up to the DAY of model Y's release. Makes no economical sense to do otherwise.![]()

For future reference almost all events of this type start at 10AM Cupertino time.
Considering that the current model had a mini-DVI out, I imagine the new model will, as well.If they release that this week and it has a DVI/Mini-DVI/HDMI out for an external screen, then I too will be making the purchase.
Yes, those drives are looking so sweet that I'm thinking of getting one of those 7200RPM/200GB/16MB cache numbers for my MacBook.Just figured I'd add in a wishful prayer to apple if it hasn't been written yet...
Get a contract with Hitachi now for their new travelstar HD...plz this thing makes a 1.25 powerbook load os 10.4 faster than my 1.67 ghz with double its ram...*cry* I can't imagine how well it flows with the intel chips
Most new models do not arrive for several days to several weeks, especially those with the best specs.I've asked this before but with no sufficient answer, can anybody guess if the apple store will start selling the new imacs on Tuesday in their brick and morter stores or on Wednesday? I live on the East Coast, I wonder how they do the transition?
