uumm wat time will this be taking place all the way over in your country?? i just wanna kno wat time i have to wake up to read MR. i am in australia.
NO - they get the computer they bought. Why do people think that Apple (or any other company) will intrinsically "give up" the sale they made in order to swap a customer's machine for a newer model!? If Mr. Johnson bought an iMac on Monday, and new iMacs ship Tuesday, he was a day early. He should have waited. He got the machine he paid for. Apple's a business, and part of making a profit is selling model X all the way up to the DAY of model Y's release. Makes no economical sense to do otherwise.![]()
I hope not....I'm broke at the moment.....October suits me just fine!
Maybe Steve is gonna retire!?![]()
Yes if there is no build to order upgrade and it's within 14 days. Could we please not get back on this subject again.my older brother might get a new mbp or mb later today. If they do upgrade them could he return it free of the restocking fee? (if he opens it)
Doesn't matter. The point, is that you've bought a machine for specific reasons. Those reasons all still apply, no matter what new machine comes out. Apple - Dell - Micro$haft - ANY company has a right to sell a product up to the day before a new product is released without letting customers know a new product is coming out. By disclosing that info, the business loses out on profit from whatever date they divulge that info. Again, as I said before, if Apple let the public know last week that new iMacs were definitely being released on the 7th, do you think they'd be selling ANY iMacs this week (the time between the release date info and the date of the new hardware)? It's ridiculous to expect Apple to divulge that info. They might as well close their doors for a week! People seem to think they are entitled to this kind of information - they aren't. Businesses have every right to be as profitable as the customer - the company making a profit on selling machines, and the customer making a profit on having the latest machine for their buck. Grow up, people - you can't have everything. That's precisely what it comes down to (people wanting to have a leg-up on a business - Apple in this example).
I'm not arguing your points here but merely pointing out that your posts shed a light that wasn't designed that way.
Apple said they were going to see a downturn in their profit because of a product transition.
The iMac will be shown Tuesday but won't be available until October thus causing a downturn of iMac purchases.Apple's bread and butter. This will indeed cause sales to decline. The question is is why is Apple waiting until October to release the new iMac?
20",24" and 30" backlit LED displays is the reason. Not only that but multi-touch built in as seen in Leopard and iPhone OSX.
A single Quad-Core Penryn chip inside on the 20" and 24".The 30" will have an HDMI port because the 30" is designed to be seen as a computer/television.And can sit on a stand on a table.Connect your HDMI device to it and Leopard will have drivers and software for it.Emphasize on Leopard software. This wont be ready until Oct.16th The Day Leopard ships.
The new iMacs will have optical toslink in/out ports to take advantage of the new 5.1 surround codec being used.
User replaceable hard drives and memory while using NVidia Cards.
NO MORE mobile platform chips for the iMac.End of story.
This can't be sold now because of media contractual agreements and the availability of certain components in mass quantities. These parts will trickle in and slowly be built over the next 2.5 months.
So why is Jobs telling us this now? The same reason he let us in on the iPhone ahead of delivery.Apple needs FCC approval due to the nature of built-in television ( and possibly FM radio ) receiver.
20" and 24" will be of the lamp arm design so a user can swivel the screen down in front of him/her to use multi-touch gesture interaction. The user can still use the keyboard when necessary (writing etc.).This is why the new keyboard is so non-ergonomic.It's designed not be used as often as before.
A new multi-touch pad will come out to replace the mouse.Thats right. Apple has re-invented the mouse and mouse-pad at the same time.
Price points for these iMacs will remain the same.

they got some info from a source....
New Macbooks: no cosmetic changes, will be getting Santa Rosa chips.
Mac mini: total form change, all brushed aluminum and 15% smaller. Base model will have a 120GB HDD.
The iMacs will be, as rumored, brushed aluminum.
And as a bonus, "the new ipods will be rolling around mid-September."

Looks like the old Apple keyboards aren't shipping anymore...

In the US, the Apple Keyboard shipping times are now 1 -- 3 weeks.
The wireless keyboard, however, is still shipping in 24 hours.
