Apple Event Confirmed for September 9th: 'Let's Rock'

Well it's the icon for "Desktop and Appearance" with some widgets splashed on it.

Either that or its an invite for the Mac event on September the 16th! :D

The 'invite' also takes into consideration the 8 seconds Steve needs to get himself on stage.

Okay, and you thought we were done. Well, "Just one more thing" --

...what about those 30" iMacs we've been missing for so long?

I think we will not see a scaled back version of the Iphone, unless that scaled back model would still access the App Store.

Think about it. The Apps Store is very high margin business for apple.

grr...you take Apple back to its roots. The company is not about all these little music player toys and gizmos -- it's about computers, and the Mac OS -- an operating system that revolutionized history.

As far as I see it, all the other stuff has been a "wild frenzy of a success" -- yeah, and added alot more money to the company. But Apple wouldn't be Apple without the Mac. That is still, and will always be the way I see it.

Calm down man.

I hope they release new laptops soon. Leopard has a spell checker.

unfortunatly for us computer lovers, anyone that watched steves latest keynote knows that hes steering the company on a 3 pronged attack rather than being mainly computers with other devices on the side:(

i mean i love apple, but the computers are what really bring the experience i want from the company into your home

I hope they reease whatever it is my selfish self wants. Furthermore I hope they EOL anything I don't want.

It's an Acer.....If you want to take a chance on the Acer quality record and on a notebook that will not run MacOS X, then by all means have a look at it.

Apple have had their fair share of problems regarding build quality in the last year or two.

As nice as Apple is. That Acer and its price/spec combination are why Apple has about 0.1% market share in the UK.

My mistake

That was 8 months ago.

They aren't here yet, but they will be soon.

You'll most likely be waiting a long time.

2008 H1 - Harpertown - 4 (8) cores, 4 (8) threads
2008 H2 - Gainestown - 4 (8) cores, 8 (16) threads
2010 H1 - Westmere - 6 (12) cores, 12 (24) threads
2011 H1 - Sandy Bridge-EP - 6 (12) cores, 12 (24) threads
2012 H1 - Ivy Bridge-EP - ???

Yeah I really screwed that up, I guess I meant to say 16 threads? What I mean is double what there is now.

Help a brotha out.

and yes, I would jump on an iphone if it had ipod capacity, and really, it would add like another 1/8 of an inch to add a whole bunch more memory to it. I don't see why they're so keen on sacrificing capacity for thinness.

I hope they don't switch to all touch computers. Seriously, for a lot of work that is done on a laptop, you need a real keyboard. If your a reporter, programmer, writer...you need a keyboard. Unless it is still the same macbooks with a touch screen on it, I think the mouse and keyboard are essential to a lot of work that is done on computers. It *might* be nice if all you did was browse the web and maybe email. But for anything more then that it would just get annoying.

Also...I think I could imagin Steve go something like(as they popup on the projector)...

Lets reiterate. New iPods, updated iPod touches, iTunes 8, revamped Macbook line, and one more thing...update Mac Mini.

a friend of mine let me know about what apple's strategy will look like for the transition to the (what you refer to as the) "touchbooks":

I have to say that, if true, this kind of scares me more then excites me.

If Apple wants to launch a new line of portable products to augment their existing MacBook and MacBook Pro line (I can see the MBA going away), that is fine.

But if they're going to replace the existing MacBook and MacBook Pro line with this new product, while it might play well with well-heeled retail consumers, I expect it will not play well with corporate and many "corporate professionals" (people who use Macs to make a living).
