Gone too

Just saw this. Very excited. Too bad I'll probably be away from Interwebs all next week. Hopefully things are available online on the date mentioned!

Just like you I'll be gone until about the 18th. This will give the initial rush people a chance to test things out first. Then I can decide whether they came out with the model I've been waiting for.

I don't particularly want to buy a laptop and find its out of date in two weeks after release date especially as most of us consider this to be a fairly major revision. People can afford to update their iPod every time a new release comes out, a laptop costing £££ is more of a 3 year upgrade.

Surely the biggest market for a Macbook is the student market, thus why they should release it in time for University/College/School starting, which around the world is in September.

No, they want all those kids to buy up the old stock. I almost fell for it.. I still might =[

Apple has learned that releasing a number of products (iPhone, mobile me, 2.0, and the app store) all at once is very bad. Apple will release the products when they see fit.

They also know that when there's a lot of hype and expectations about upcoming products and they don't deliver, their stock plummets.

Finally saving my burnt up ipod nano for 10%discount and I have a 30dollar apple gift card. Now I can get what the next gen ipod classic will be. Very excited about this.

Im usually optimistic, but who on earth cares about the refresh of products that have already been refreshed not so long ago? Just put out those mac book pro's already . . . man .

I'm leaving for Australia the night of Oct. 30 and I'll need a new laptop for the trip, as my five-year-old iBook's screen is literally being held together with three legal clips. So I need a new MacBook or MBP (yes I'll pay the premium) to be in my hands on Oct. 28.

(As for the person who's gonna say, "If you need a new laptop now, don't wait -- buy a new laptop now," my current setup is fine for around the house and short trips, but not for a three-week trip on another continent.)

Well I say wait till about Oct 15th and get one whether it's been updated or not, if it gets updated after that I'm pretty sure it will be before the end of Oct. and then you can return it and get the new one.

Damn. Only iPods? Nice to hear that we're having new models but no MBP? I kind of want to hear some news about it before heading off to school. :(

Do you really think that the invite is going to summarize the annoucements that are due to come? Speculation of a new iPod is easy and safe.

Just what the world needs is some more iPods...goog lord, where are the MacBooks and MBP's already! Yes, they have "refreshed" them with processors and screens over the years, but the MBP hasn't changed since G4. I'm not cribbing for design only, but everyone has said the next big leap will include design revisions, so lets get on with it and quit playing with the toys already!

The iPod is not a toy (!), and Apple are not going to ignore it.

For all the moaning about the iPod, it's worth remembering how iPod sales helped Apple turn around, and also get some cash sorted to finance projects like the iPhone. I'd agree, the iPod isn't a toy.

I recon, apple will release new amazing ipods, then after they sell around a million or something, they'll release new backs with free ipods or something around those lines, making the people who brought the new ipods look stupid

apple always does that so... yeah. maybe.

:apple:iPod Touch 8GB (5GB Left) :apple:
:apple:Apple Remote..? Does that count? :apple:

@ EVERYBODY demanding new laptops
Just because you want new MB/MBPs does not mean there will be. You are not entitled to one just because you want one. Apple goes at their own pace, with their own product schedules, that do not revolve around you. Be happy with the iPod updates, and then wait for the laptop updates. Stop filing threads up with your pointless complaints.

what? new backs with free iPods? when has apple ever done that? and it's bought* not brought

Is there a complete review of rumors pertaining to this event?

My recollections are there is a new iTunes coming, a redesigned iPod nano, and a modest upgrade for the iPod Touch.

Hardly enough for an event. Me thinks there is more to the event than we are hearing/seeing. What could it/they be?

Exclusive artists or labels? New ways to use iPods? Applications? A new line of iPods? Price changes? Partnerships with developers? A major change in distribution of iPods or music/movies?

any of the above are possible, guess we'll have to wait a week to see

Many of us don't need new notebooks but we get excited about the new iPods every year! Though my 160GB Classic is still working fine I will upgrade to the latest and best Classic this time around.

Remember, not everyone needs a new laptop.

Your not alone. I've been waiting since mid last year.

um... apple's laptops have seen numerous revisions since then. You could've been enjoying a macbook for a year+ by now.

Is it just me...or does no one give a **** about new iPods this year? Everyone seems to want their new notebooks! I don't want to rock...I want my new MacBook Pro.

It's not just you, but it is largely just the people on this site. The ipod is apple's signature product at this point (with the iphone not far behind). The release of new ipods is national news - the release of updated laptops is highly relevant to a very small group of people.

Time to take the damn bloat out and revert itunes to a music manager rather then an isync/ical/movies/music/julian fry maker.

Don't count on it. As SJ has said, once you put features in to something you really can't take them out. No way, no how does itunes revert to what it was several generations ago - nor should it. Not only does it do everything but make julian fries now, it does it all *well,* so there's really no reason to scale it back.

Not if you want real phone service. I'll stick w. Verizon and get a touch, thank you very much.:p

Having had both, I can tell you VZN is no better than AT&T. Basically the same coverage and rate of dropped calls, with each doing a little better than the other in certain places.

Why doesn't anyone care? ipod's and iphone's get released every year it seems like. Macbook, Macbook pro, mini have not had a real (other than speed bumps) update in a few years. Imac just got their update last summer.

I don't understand this comment. What would constitute a "real" update? A different form factor? To what end, just because you're bored with the current one?

I'm sorry but that's not true, I've considered a iPhone 3G, but I like my $40 a month cheap phone if I could get the same features in an iPod touch I would NEVER consider an iPhone, and remember they have a goal to reach on selling iPhones, no goal on how many iPod touches to sell

I think you misunderstand. I mean both the iPhone & the iPod Touch would have the same amount of memory, have all the same apps, but the iPod Touch won't have the phone.

Ok, so I am gonna go ahead and say that the majority of people in this thread want new notebooks lol!
