Wow, we finally get that mid-tier desktop that everyone has been asking for (about 20 years now). At least Apple is listening now.

I like the focus on powerful computing lately. Really brings me back to what made me an apple user in the first place.

Maybe the 27" iMac goes away...replaced by the Mac Studio/Studio Display
That's exactly how I understand it. The studio mac is the upgraded mac mini (replaces the last mac mini intel models), paired with the separate studio display it ends the intel 27" iMac as well. That last statement about one more to go is meant to answer this exact question.

I’m sorry but $1599 is completely unacceptable for the Studio Display considering it has no ProMotion. Sure it looks nice but it’s going to be really annoying if you plug a new MBP into this thing and suddenly you’re back down to what, 60hz?

If it had ProMotion and mini-LED and 1600 nits brightness it would probably cost $5000 at least. The XDR monitor costs that and it doesn't even have speakers or a camera (and has fewer mini LED dimming zones than the MBP).

The MBP still has the best Mac display.

Nothing I want from this event; the next iMac Pro should have 120hz im so annoyed the new display isn’t 120hz now my MacBook is still the best display how can I use a display that’s worse than my MacBook screen

Will be fun to wait for the commentary along the lines:

"But a comparable PC is only $X while greedy Apple is asking for $Y for Studio with M1 Ultra"

(This time there is no PC to compare to. And any with even close to the performance is already more expensive than Studio)

my guess is this: there WILL be an iMac (pro?) but apple might be a year behind schedule so they dropped it for now just so they can meet that 2 year transition on time. next year, they'll just announce an iMac Studio with 30-32 inches and it'll replace that iMac (pro?). i suppose the plan is to get that high end iMac to have miniLED and ProMotion and not being able to do so would be a let down

What is a decent 32” monitor with USB C that I should buy instead this stupid 27” Apple monitor?

All I want to know is if the studio display will work with a PC. Unfortunately I have to use one for work but would love to have this monitor.

Does anyone know?

Why do you think, that there will an iMac Pro?
