I'm cackling because I've just now witnessed the iMac 27" and the iMac Pro get end-of-lifed in one fell swoop!

Want that functionality now? Buy a Mac Studio (Max or Ultra) with a Studio Display!

$3,598 for the base Studio & display, $5,598 for the Ultra Studio & display.

Perhaps one last Intel Mac Pro, then the future will be Apple Silicon with the Ultra and whatever they call the Jade-4-C (Double Ultra? Heh.) when a M3-or-so version can roll out in 2024 or 2025.

It makes absolute business sense. Genius. Evil (not entirely serious) genius...but genius.
You think it will be that long? I suspect the transition for the mac pro will be this year, they mentioned they have the tech to stitch two m1 processors together, I suspect they may stitch 4 together and be done with it. (The M1 ultra already is faster than the Mac Pro I think....)

Mac Pro/Mac Studio with the M1 Ultra is much too rich for my blood, no matter how much I would like one anyway....

Nothing I want from this event; the next iMac Pro should have 120hz im so annoyed the new display isn’t 120hz now my MacBook is still the best display how can I use a display that’s worse than my MacBook screen
Pretty obvious this is the iMac Pro.

Yeap that’s my take. But then will Apple make a bigger iMac?
I kinda doubt they will now. I wish they offered the new studio display at a 30" option for say, around $2,200. I'd like a little more real estate but don't have room for two 27"s.

Leave it to Apple to finally build a dedicated SFF gaming PC but try to sell it with a crippled monitor and no Display Ports (Yes, I know that USB-C to DP will easily do 120hz+).
Why do people use gaming PCs as some sort of benchmark. A PC has more uses than gaming and Apple has never been seriously into the gaming market. If you want a gaming PC buy a Windows PC. This is what I did. If you try to make a gaming PC out of a Mac you’re going to be disappointed

How many of you went *gulp* right before they announced the prices?

I stopped watching ages earlier. Too much music, splashy color, presenters talking too fast and droning on, too much tech spec stuff, etc. Annoying. Had to keep muting. No wonder I had stopped watching the keynotes — and that was even before the video m.o.

Too much time that one can never get back!

These video keynotes are tiresome, glitz over reality, too much hype, and look like an overzealous middle schooler produced them!

The one good thing under Cook is that they feature women, people of color, and international backgrounds, not just white male techies.

I couldn't believe that their comparison devices for the iPhone SE were the 6s, 7, and 8. We would definitely expect HUGE performance gains over those old models.

The obvious comparison would have been with the iPhone SE 2016 and iPhone 2022. That makes me suspect that the gains are marginal.

And, for $30 more. That's a pathetic increase. Either leave it the same price or jump a good $50. Or, rather, $49.99. ?

What percentage of the US population is under 20 and over 65? You might be surprised at the size of the market for this.

Also, how about college students that constantly lose, break, or have their phones stolen? This is the phone I would give my kid for college.
I can’t lie, I don’t fit in those age ranges, and I was tempted by the new iPhone SE. There’s something neat about the nostalgic design and the improved performance!

Yes at a significant price increase but the 27" is pretty much the same display tech we have had for years.

Mac Studio (M1 Max version): Not so bad a price (hardly cheap, but then Apple thinks RAM costs $200 per 8G).

Studio display: forget it. Only $200 less than a 5k iMac with what sounds like the same display. Not supporting that sort of gouging.

My maxed-out 2020 M1 Mac mini cost me $1700 and is still working great. A basic configuration for a Mac Studio would cost $2100 (with a 1 tb HD), and I'm not sure I'd get that much more for the money. I'd see just slightly faster video rendering. To see a real difference I'd have to shell out $2000 more for the Ultra configuration. So I think I'll stick with my current setup.

The 27" LG UltraFine 5K was $1299.

I mean...

If it bothers you that much, use something else. However if you want something Apple branded, there's going to be a premium on it.

I have little doubt that the speakers on the Studio Display will be among the best, if not the very best, that you can purchase on a consumer/prosumer monitor.

This monitor is not worth it. From the PC side of things, you can get a 4k 144hz monitor for half the price. Sure, this might have lower resolution, but a 144hz refresh rate from a gaming monitor is SIGNIFICANTLY better than this

I know nothing about high end monitors but is there a similar monitor with all the built-in Apple features but better spec'd and better priced? Just curious what the Apple Tax is on the displays.

Apple's Netherlands shop just updated. The price of the monitor is starting at €1779, that's crazy.

I was really interested in one, but this is too much. My thunderbolt display was €1100. I get these are betters specs, obviously, but that is the nature of tech. 10 years later, of course you're gonna jump from 2,5k to 5K with more colors, a better webcam etc. But what they didnt jump in is the size nor the refresh rate. Pro Motion would have been nice, especially if I'd pair with it my 16" MBP M1 Pro. Now you still have two screens, where one has a lesser appealing refresh rate while the laptop's hardware can definitely deliver more.

No regrets buying the iPad Air 4 last month since I don't need any of Air 5's new features.
Disappointed there was no Macbook Air news. Guess I'll mosey over to the Store and pick me out an M1 Pro MBP.
Was excited about the Studio Display but wasn't expecting it @ $1599. $1100 maybe.
It looks like a minor spec bump and some new colors for the Air. 5G only works if you’re in a major city. If you need a faster USB connection for large video files then you’re probably already using an iPad Pro
