Honestly, these machines are such mature technologies, even with the new M3s, that they can‘t be exciting. These just aren‘t worth announcing in an “event” any more. A 20 minute announcement video in the middle of the day would have been fine. Or even a press release. There’s just nothing they can really do at this point. After all, my M1 Mac Mini is still running great, and I bought the 15 inch M2 Air this past summer. I have no need of an M3.

Almost makes me wonder whether they had originally planned to announce something major at a daytime event, but that major item got delayed, so rather than have an embarrassingly short "regular" event they thought it wouldn't be so obviously underwhelming as a short evening special.

And yes, the M3 chips are a nice step up from the M1 and M2, but once you pull back the marketing-speak the amount of substantive innovation discussed was really quite meager. Except I now know that a particular color of laptop is professional.

Most of the rumors about the event turned out to be true. I love that the new MBPs will be offered in Space Black, long overdue.

Well, we didn't heard Tim say we have worked hard at Apple this time....so they surely hadn't this year.

Really underwhelming. Ok.

That has to be the strangest presentation I’ve seen ever since Steve Jobs held one just for the iPod Hifi

Yes, it's just you. Space Black is an all-new color designed exclusively for the most professional MacBook Pro users.
So this

Doesn’t look similar to this:

As you can see they kept the same price points, looking at the M3 Pro/Max 14"/16" MBPs the same price points also.

Still its great to see a M1 to M3 Update for the 24" iMac even if the larger model is unannounced/rumored.
