Star Wars atmosphere with mac pro untouched? My MBP 16 will stay a bit longer. I9 is still fast enough. No need to spend that 5000$+ bonus ;-). Sonora just works absolutely fine on it. I was a little dreaming about the Ipad mini. For me it would be perfect - but we'll wait it out...

The Magic Keyboards and mouse and trackpad are still Lightning. They did not change to USB-C. And no new Mac mini this time.

my only explanation for that event is that they felt that the M3 announcement was too big to just be a stealth store update. Otherwise literally nothing else warranted a primetime event.
Yeah, but this was the case with Intel processors. They would only have events for major device changes and new categories.

The same will happen with apple silicon… it’s just an expectation now that it will gradually get faster. In the future it will just be a quiet CPU revision. The more exciting things are changes in architecture such as GPU caching etc.

This thought just came to mind. "Boy, that was scary stupid." LOL.

All in all, what I am reading here and there seems like these are fine upgrades. But wow, the way Apple can hype such an event is amazing. Like someone else said, this could have been in an email. Furthermore, let's not forget this was a pre-recorded event. It could have probably been broadcasted earlier. Meh. LOL

They must be desperate for Mac sales. I can't think of why else that would have been an "event."

Also basically begging Intel users to upgrade was funny lol
The rumor is that the M2s didn’t sell very well. In effect, the M1 was possibly the most successful Mac rollout in history, and coming in the midst of Covid helped a lot. IMO, their big problem is that M1 was TOO good. I still don’t see a good reason to upgrade from M1 at this point unless you just “need” a new machine.

Wow. That's it? 30 minutes and it's over.

No new USB-C mouse or keyboards or trackpad?

Mark Gurman lied

Apple will likely announce new versions of its Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad for the Mac at its "Scary Fast" event on Monday, October 30, according to a report today from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The updated accessories are expected to be equipped with USB-C ports instead of Lightning ports for charging.

Surely they’re not shipping new iMacs out with lightening mouse and keyboards?

A giant Meh. This was why they did it after the market closed, so hopefully it would forget by morning.

So many opportunities to innovate, but just an iterative update with so many repeats that it was almost predictable. They could not even bake in AV! encoding support in their highest end machine? But, wait, it comes in Black. That makes everything better. SMH...

Speaking of predictions, with all of the mention of pushing Intel users to Mx, I am betting Apple will deprecate compatibility completely next year.

This was the biggest smoke and mirrors show I have seen from Apple in a very, very long time.
