M2 MacBook airs might be around a lot longer than expected… they still have the “new” tagline on the 15 inch model. If there was a refresh in 6 months or so I guess they would have taken this opportunity to drop that.

Still lighting? Ffs...

A giant Meh. This was why they did it after the market closed, so hopefully it would forget by morning.

So many opportunities to innovate, but just an iterative update with so many repeats that it was almost predictable. They could not even bake in AV! encoding support in their highest end machine? But, wait, it comes in Black. That makes everything better. SMH...

Speaking of predictions, with all of the mention of pushing Intel users to Mx, I am betting Apple will deprecate compatibility completely next year.

This was the biggest smoke and mirrors show I have seen from Apple in a very, very long time.
It so was... and that ridiculous plug for their Apple TV+ monters show... it made me cringe.

Surprised there were no gaming demos to show off the increased GPU features and performance, especially with Resident Evil Villiage launching for iOS today (I was expecting an M3 patch for the Mac version to be announced that introduced ray-tracing). For me, this is the only reason to go M3 over a refurbished M2 model. Guess we'll have to wait for the reviews/benchmarks.

"This event was shot on iPhone and edited on a Mac", with a note at the bottom saying it was an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

That’s pretty crazy, the video quality was excellent
Most of the talking parts had CGI backgrounds.

Why are they comparing the M3 with the M1 and not the M2? Are they assuming that no one with an M2 will be keen to upgrade, and most likely people on M1s might take the bullet?

I liked this presentation. I don't need an hour of propaganda commercials with random people clapping and dancing.
Yeah no doubt most people prefer the pre-recorded type so they’ve stuck to it rather than just doing it for the pandemic keynote.. it’s more fun to watch and benefits apple too as they have more creative control

The Magic Keyboards and mouse and trackpad are still Lightning. They did not change to USB-C. And no new Mac mini this time.
Yields on the 3nm process are supposed to be low. Hence they did not expand the M3 to the rest of the lineup (MacBook Air, Mac Mini, Studio and Pro). Perhaps they will skip the M3 entirely and just get updated next year with the M4 Series.
