$600 to go from 512gb to 2TB SSD. I just paid $100 for a Samsung 990 2TB SSD last week. Tim Cook must paying over 7X NAND price right now. The SSDs better be faster than PCIe5.0 for these prices.

there goes my hopes for a MacBook Air (in 2024) supporting more than 1 external monitor. Been trying to replace my 2013 11-inch MacBook Air, which has no problem driving 2 external monitors (have it connected to 2 daisy chained Apple Thunderbolt Displays, and it's still humming along).

"Display Support
M3

Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display at 1 billion colors and:
One external display with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz"

If you ask me it's pretty clear what's happening.

We are finally at the point where smartphone and computer can't be updated every year so they started to create "phases" for upgrading.

iphone 15? Look how cool it is compared to an iphone 11
macbook pro? Look how many things you get upgrading from an intel mac.

The point is, they're are not even trying to convince people that bought in the last couple of years, the events of this year were clearly for people with older devices.

Ugh. My stupid 2018 mini is butt slow now that it’s on Ventura. I dread seeing what Sonoma will do. I’m toying with going to a MBP but my son’s M1 MBP is glitchy as hell. He said his mouse plugged into the wired apple keyboard needs to constantly be unplugged and plugged back in. Makes me worry about a $2300 investment in the M3 Pro MBP 14” with 36 GB/1 TB

Apple's "Scary Fast" event kicks off today at the unusual time of 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, and we're expecting to see the debut of the M3 family of Apple silicon chips with updated iMac and MacBook Pro models and perhaps some other announcements.

Supper disappointed they did not come back with a larger iMac! AND only M3, no pro or Max on the iMac.

I liked this presentation. I don't need an hour of propaganda commercials with random people clapping and dancing.

Yeah... felt just right for me.

I guess I'm supposed to say something like, "Meh, so underwhelmed!" Along with a giant eye-roll. Which is the usual inane response to all Apple events.

Apple is dropping or has dropped support for most intel machines, and likely Sonoma is the last one. They are proactively trying to get people to switch over.
I think there will be a couple more intel compatible versions of macOS yet because the Intel Mac Pro was still for sale until 4 months ago.

They dragged that out. Pricing on the new Max chips is ludicrous though! Starting from over 3 grand, nice machines but damn. iMac looks like a bargain! Think it’s best to wait for the Studio to get its update to the M3.
