Gotta believe some big changes will be coming to iPad OS at WWDC.

Exactly. If they're going to have 16GB of RAM in this thing, no way it stays so simple. Hybrid macOS mode coming? Would love to switch between the two modes when using a keyboard/trackpad or mouse and that would sell it for me instantly. But why not wait for WWDC? Maybe because Apple knows people are getting their COVID and tax return checks now. But also because the software wouldn't be ready until September anyway.

I feel like they rushed everything else to get to Ipad. They should have spent more time on the Airtags and Apple TV and addressed the question many people are probably asking, which is is the new remote backwards compatible and can it be sold separately.
