i get that this thing has mini-led and is extremely fast, but the price is adding up very quickly. the $2000 14in notchbook has 8 core CPU and 14 core GPU. you need to spend $2400 to get the 10core/16core m1 pro

Jesus christ. $400 for 32GB of RAM? Guess I'll keep waiting to see if Framework comes out with an AMD laptop.

If you look over the history of Mac notebooks, that's far from ridiculous. Everything's a bit pricier w/the pandemic inflation bumps.

If one can't afford that, there's always the M1s. Mighty fine notebooks on their own for half the price or less.
I don't think people are saying that $1999 isn't justified in terms of what you're getting, just the increase in price over the current base MBP is the best part of $1k, and is realistically going to cost more than that to upgrade if you're selling your M1 MBP to pay towards it.

I think the 16" model looks good value if you're upgrading from the old Intel 16" though. Just that 13" M1 MBP -> 14" M1 Pro MBP doesn't look good value.

Base 14 inch only has 14 GPU cores.
