Elon's Boring company isn't necessarily boring.
This is true, I just wanted to make a dad joke.
[doublepost=1553304961][/doublepost]
How many new computer related products did they release just this week?

Sorry. This is total nonsense.
[doublepost=1553303304][/doublepost]

Someone is not paying attention at all.
I write that on March 12th which if you look at a calendar was before this week. Also they did what I said, releasing iOS devices via press releases on the sidelines ahead of the event, which is about boring services crap. How is that total nonsense when what I said is what is happening? iOS was sidelined this this week when the real story is the services. I was right!

Sorry, I didn't realize this article was old. But iOS is hardly on the sidelines this week. One the biggest pieces of news was new iPads. Then again, everyone looks at these things differently. No offense intended.

My whole point was that years ago Macs would always take center stage at events and now most except major redesigns are featured via press releases in favor of iOS devices. Now we’re starting to see this happen to iOS devices in favor of services, which is their new baby. That’s all.

The enthusiast class of computer users sure have a serious axe to grind with Apple.

Computer companies don't do $300 billion+ in yearly revenue. Apple diverged from solely computers 12 years ago, when Steve Jobs was very much alive.

It was Jobs himself, in 1997, that said that computers weren't the endgame for the company...to search for The Next Big Thing.

It is what it is. I suppose the enthusiast-class detractors gets emotional release venting in Mac forums.

It's the OS......Tell Tim to sell the OS to a 3rd party company for the enthusiast-class then Apple can continue with their service, phone, ... next big thing.

Expected from Apple? Disappointment.:(

Hope? Mac Pro introduction.

Mac Pro 2020
If you’re expecting anything to do with Mac Pro on Monday, you will indeed be disappointed. But that’s on you.

The Monday event is about their streaming service and possibly the news/magazine subscription service.

The Mac Pro won’t be addressed until WWDC, when Apple will either release it, preview it or at least give us an update of some sort about it. No need to spin yourself up for Monday.

well I don't know if Mac rumors already posted the latest news directly from apple
but before I do post what I just found out
I want to answer the question
what do I expect?
well more of the same, that means little or minimal updates to their current hardware
they been doing the every year, change a few little things and keep the same insane price

when they do make a little discount is not even that significant

anyway
apple just announced some new iMacs with intel 8 gen and 9th gen cpu
there is a big rumor that some of these iMacs might not come or include the T2 chip

while many fans in the hackintosh community are happy to hear the news
because that probably means that we will have hackintosh support for at least another 5 years

well many real Macs owners are a bit disappointed that those new models don't come or bring the T2 chip
I guess they feel that apple is lowering their standards by not including the latest hardware
the question is why did they removed?
well that if they did, this rumor needs to be confirmed first

but if it is true
is like a said about a week ago
apple is giving less for more

they are reducing components cost but they are still asking for the same outrageous price
if you cut down the price in components well also cut down the price

well you guys can expect like 100 new emojis in next update of iOS and mojave

:D

Tim is totally predictable

There isn’t any hardware guaranteed to be launching in this event, we don’t know specifically what/when will launch regarding the AirPods, iPad mini, iPod, etc. There’s nothing slated to launch for this specific keynote, again, any hardware is merely a bonus, aside from services side of things for this keynote. Fall keynotes, we obviously can expect more hardware given their tradition.
Apple just release new AirPods & a new iPad mini in the last few days. Of course they won’t announce anything related to those on Monday. I doubt we see any new hardware but if by chance there will be, my guess is an Apple TV update.

It's fairly clear now, late-Fri, that AAPL set & announced the date BEFORE they had much of it finalized.

It will be a busy weekend @ AAPL's HQ this weekend, as Cook & Co try to figure-out how best to spin it.

Newspaper & magazine subscription - Boring.
It's obviously not made for you. So don't comment on it either.
There are a lot of pitiable people in England (your home) these days who somehow never find satisfaction.

Destructive criticism: No idea what they want, but what is offered to them they automatically do not want.
Affluent society in England.

The Chinese would be happy if they had the options you find boring.

I don't think I'll even bother watching it.

I'm sure you will, and then you'll keep bitching here.

But comfort you: I remember when music distribution via the internet (iTunes) was introduced most people here at MacRumors didn't understand this game changer too. Publishers do, and that is much more important than your state of mind.

Don't politicise this.
Schadenfreude is the last thing you Herr / Frau Morgenland should be indulging in.

I like England very much! And I am deeply sorry for the situation in your country (I was there a few days ago). That subject is too sad for Schadenfreude.

'If you're not angry, then you're not paying attention.'
When I was young I thought so too. You see, I am no longer a schoolgirl. I have learned that attention creates offers when you fight for your ideas. (e.g. humaneness)
Anger closes your eyes and makes you blind and sometimes it insinuates your fellow men to think evil (Schadenfreude)...

I got stuck with my MacBook Pro 2015 and my iPhone SE. If they break down I can only get fashionable hi-tech thinner-than-thin consumer products from Apple. So I've to turn to Craigslist or something to get the professional Apple gear sufficient for my kind of work (developer, IT professional).
I don't need (most of the) services. I don't need a news channel, nor netflix-alike subscriptions (ok, I do have Netflix on my ATV - my kids would kill me when I unsubscribe). I don't need a thin shiny laptop.

Just bring back a MacBook Pro like the 2015 one and a phone like the SE.

Hmm ... did this thread get a bump???
This was originally posted back on March 13.

Anyway, I hope they surprise us and say:
"well you all know that we released wireless Airpods recently ... in white ... well today we're giving you matte finished colored Airpods - black, space grey & gold!"
"and you've all seen the beautifully spec'd iPad Mini 5 .... well today we're presenting to you, the iPad Mini Pro!!".

Would be a nice surprise. In fact it would be an awesome surprise. But I won't be holding my breath. In fact I don't think I'm even going to bother watching this event.

In an average year, Apple holds three to four events. There's usually a spring event in March, the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, a September event that's focused on iPhone and Apple Watch, and sometimes an October event if there are iPads or Macs expected in the fall.

In this guide, we're keeping track of all of the Apple events that are on the horizon and what we're expecting to see at each one, so make sure to check back in regularly.

March 25 Event

Apple's first event of the year will take place on Monday, March 25. According to rumors, Apple plans to focus on services at this event, introducing both a new Apple News service and a TV service. Here's what we're expecting to see:

Apple News Service

Apple is working on a $9.99 per month subscription news service that would give Apple News users unlimited access to stories from paywalled sites like The Wall Street Journal. The service will also include a magazine element, similar to the service offered by Texture, the magazine app that Apple bought in 2018.

Not all news sites are on board (WaPo and NYT won't join) yet because Apple wants 50 percent of all subscription revenue, but magazine publishers are embracing Apple's plan. The news content and the magazines will all be accessible for a single subscription fee, thought to be $9.99 per month.

Streaming TV Service

Apple is also working on a streaming TV service that will include the more than two dozen TV shows and movies that it has in the works, along with access to subscription content from other cable providers.

Apple plans to allow its customers to sign up for services like Starz and Showtime right within the TV app, and the company could also provide channel bundles that aggregate content from multiple cable providers at a reduced price.

There's no word on what this service will cost, but Apple will introduce it at the March event before launching it later in the year, perhaps in summer or fall. Multiple celebrities like Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, and Jennifer Garner - who are starring in Apple's original television shows - have been invited to the event and are expected to attend.

iOS 12.2

The iOS 12.2 beta that's being tested right now already has hints of the Apple News service in it, and Apple is going to release the iOS 12.2 update right after the event takes place to give people access to the new Apple News subscription service.

Along with access to this subscription service, iOS 12.2 brings Apple News to Canada, offers new Animoji characters, includes HomeKit TV support for third-party TVs, and has dozens of other smaller tweaks and changes outlined in our iOS 12.2 tidbits post.

iOS 12.2 is also pre-installed on the new iPads that were just released, and the second-generation AirPods also require the update. Both of those products are shipping out to customers early next week.

Apple Pay

According to Bloomberg, Apple is planning to preview new Apple Pay features at its March 25 event that will lay the groundwork for an iPhone credit card partnership with Goldman Sachs. It's not entirely clear what new features Apple will announce, but there are updates to the design of the Wallet app in iOS 12.2 that Apple may be planning to highlight.

Rumors have suggested that the credit card that Apple is debuting in partnership with Goldman Sachs will have special features in the Wallet app unavailable to standard credit cards, such as budgeting tools, spending recommendations and limits, and more.

Hardware

We were expecting minor updates to a number of Apple products in the spring, which Apple started rolling out ahead of the March 25 event. So far, Apple has released an updated iPad mini, a new 10.5-inch iPad Air, refreshed iMacs, and AirPods 2. A seventh-generation iPod touch and the AirPower could still be coming sometime soon.

With Apple introducing hardware via press release ahead of the event, we aren't expecting to see any new hardware announcements at the event itself, but there's always the chance for a surprise.

Event Details

The March 25 event will take place at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time (1:00 p.m. Eastern Time) at the Steve Jobs Theater on the Apple Park campus. Apple plans to live stream the event on its website and through the Events app on the Apple TV. MacRumors will be covering the event here on MacRumors.com and through our MacRumorsLive Twitter account.

From my perspective I believe that we have enough left-leaning news organizations and do not need one from a computer maker.

Tim is totally predictable

Wow.
This post actually gave me a headache.
Were I a betting man... wait, I am a betting man! Let me rephrase this: I’ll bet you $10,000 against a box of Krispy Kremes that Apple does NOT randomly remove the T series chip from their lineup. That is beyond the pale of ludicrous. No wonder you are the only one “reporting” on this, & none of the rumor sites are.
Further... there’s this consortium (look it up!), they’re called the Unicode Consortium. They create WAY ahead of time, a list of new emojis that will be added to the Unicode standard. Then EVERY SINGLE TECH COMPANY updates their emojis to include those. Google does, Apple does, Samsung does, Facebook does, etc.
Sorry that your imaginary scenario of Tim doodling drawings on napkins, then calling meetings to say “look what I drew, let’s get these funny faces included in iOS immediately”, has no basis in reality.

Apple just put aside all the hardware people were expecting and released very minor upgrades. For what? To show us Netflix knock off? Some emojis maybe and some AR footage with a Lego build? Meh... Doesn't even worth watching it.
I can't believe Apple did this right out of the blue! We had no idea that Apple was moving into streaming video. I feel so shocked and disappointed. The next time Apple does something like this, they need to give us more than a couple of years notice so we don't feel so blindsided.

Where's my PowerBook G5?????!!!!111
