There are two possibilities. The safe bet is a passively cooled MacBook (Air) with a chip very similar to the A14.

However, if Apple wants to send the message that they have the most powerful chips in desktop computing, then they will come out with a MacBook Pro 13" with a much higher clocked, actively cooled A14-like chip with for example 12 versus 6 cores.

I am hoping for the latter, that's what Steve would do :)

I’m starting to feel a bit Rumor-Fatigued by the hype-train these past 6 months on pending products that have just never surfaced. AirTags? Apple Silicon iMac? AirPods Studio? Where art thou....

I'm in the fan-less fanboy camp, and I believe it will indeed be the revived 12-inch MacBook.

It will make a statement that Apple is going to seriously revolutionize the personal computer yet again.

(Edit: I forgot to mention the new Apple Silicon 42" iMac that will launch alongside the new Apple Silicon 12" MacBook.)

I really hope it won't be 12'' but rather 13''. 12 is too small for my needs..

The 27" iMac was just updated in August no? But I agree, its awaiting a long needed design refresh. I'd love to see this rumoured 23-24" iMac with the iPad Pro like design.

I think an ipad pro look like design will make the iMac loses its identity. It’ll look plain just like a monitor. Less bezel with a much smaller chin might look good without losing its identity.

Aye if they put out a MacBook or MacBook Air it will give off that impression many consumers still have that ARM is the lowered powered 'cheep' option. ARM machines on Windows are giving an affix to give away their (lower) status. A (i)Mac or MacBook Pro with a powerful chip that they can show graphs with 2x performance on Photoshop, 1.5x performance on Final Cut Pro.. as they like to do, would go a long way to get into users minds that this is a big deal.

There's probably enough bezel to shave off the old design to make your wish come true in the same form factor...

Tagline for invitations:

Keeping best for last
I doubt they'll slag their iPhones like that.

Really looking forward to the rumored event.

FINALLY more details and even som ASi Products :)
Hope there is news on ASi Mac Mini too and not just the expected Macbook and possibly iMac.
I don't expect any "Pro" devices though.

I'm guessing MacBook and MacBook Pro, with iMac 24 earlier next year. However I really hope we see iMac at this event. I need a basic MacBook, and a fully specced iMac. Not going near the intel versions or 8 year old iMac design.

I woul'd love to see a 12" mb - the mac mini on the other hand makes more sense, because they already shipped them with arm to dev's.
Imac, mbp and mba are updated or will become in 2021 the micro-led. I think it will be the mb 12". Maybe they shock us with something new like a arm-based server, a little twin-displayed notebook (like Microsoft) or an iTV :)

Maybe this won’t be an A14 variant at all. Maybe it’s something a gen ahead of the iPhone chips. Maybe something completely new given the space, increased battery size etc. of a laptop. I would not be surprised at all to see something bold in these chipsets.

IBook 2020 :)

Hopefully they’re much cooler running and less fan-happy than the current Intel models, though.

My MacBook Pro’s fan cranks up every time I run “Hearthstone”, but the same game runs great on an iPad with very little heat and no fan.
for 100% sure...based on the dev mac mini..if they change just the cpu for example from current intel one with the A14 inside the Macbook Air you will gain
- much more cpu raw and igpu raw perfromance
- far better cooling thanks to the arm architecture
- under full load the intel chips runs around between 91-100C while the A14 will run at max 80C based on the A12Z chip
- Intel Macbook air you get 10-11 hours battery life under light usage and 3-4 hours under heavy usage while with the A14 you will get over 15 hours under light usage and over 8 hours over heavy usage
- better facetime camera since A14 use high quality camera processor

Again this will gain JUST if Apple replace the cpu inside the current macbook air

If they'll show any change, that's the change i expect mostly. Ideally 14'' in 13'' body will be great but probably next year.

IMO, it's a revived 12" MacBook.
- It's the least demanding of all Macs, so it's safer to start with this one,
- It's been out of the line-up for so long, but there's still a market for ultrabooks, bringing it back only makes sense,
- Macbook Air was refreshed not so long ago,
- The MacBook Pro has to be a "pro" model. An A14X probably won't suffice for that matter.

Finally, it could have a bigger screen than 12" by reducing the bezels (13"?). If that happens, I can picture the MacBook Air slowly dying and never be replaced. This MacBook Air has always looked like a placeholder, something to fill the void while waiting for an ARM ultra portable Mac.

Just my opinion.

Let the reviewer became a guinea pig then, I still not sure how my gears will working correctly with Apple Silicon based Macs. Thinks like Wacom Tablet, bunch of tangent panels, USB / TB hub, etc.
