Apple Event to Unveil First Apple Silicon Macs Could Happen on November 17

I suspect it will be a relaunch of the MacBook.

Wouldn’t be the first time they’ve killed it off, only to relaunch it a few years later with a redesign.

It will also likely be fanless, much like the Retina MacBook was. In fact, I would suspect it will look very similar to the Retina MacBook, with most of the work being done on internals wrt ARM processor.

Then, 3-5 years later, once Apple has switched all their desktop and laptop products to ARM, and let the dust settle a little bit, this one will be killed off again.

I don't trust this Prosser guy, but I am pretty sure a change in CPU architecture deserves its own event. I don't like this Apple multiple events for each product, but I understand its because they don't to announce many products together to not overshadow each other.

MacBook Pro 13” Apple Silicon
32gb Ram
500gb Storage upwards

I would pay £2200-2300 for that.
sounds like a overkill for 13'' MBP, I would use only 16gb Ram instead. Wonder what the GPU will be like. I expect the CPU to be 6 or 8 cores for the entry level machines. Next year later on maybe for the 16'' they'll put 12 core who knows. I hope the price will stay relatively the same. Unfortunately we all hope for lesser price but considering Apple, i doubt that.

What are we likely to see? MBP 13" and/or MacBook Air and/or 12" MacBook?
I think the Air or 12” first. Why? Because biggest challenge will be 3rd party software to be ready and available. And this is more important for pro-users I think. I do hope it will be 13”MBP btw.. want one :)

Exciting news! Would be great if they had a Macbook/Air type device and a Pro ready for this event. I really want to see what the design is going to be like as much as the performance to be honest, to see what new features they're hopefully going to add in to the new laptops.

If it is a revived 12” MacBook I hope they have the vision to make it a few mm thicker and use something like the Magic Keyboard. There would be so many people who just would not chance a 3rd gen butterfly mechanism.

I was hoping for an iMac. It is long due for an update. I am waiting for it to replace mine.
Hmmm "Long due for an update" ... even tho it got a significant update just two months ago.
In the history of tech hardware, I'm not sure there was ever a time when a two month old model qualified as 'due for an update'.

So four months in a row of dribbling out information in an over-hyped way .... but why does this kind of thing need to be a leak. It would seem that Apple should announce this themselves to build suspense - in the same way, the movie industry sends out previews 6 months in advance (I'll waiting for the new James Bond and Top Gun movies). I just wonder what Apple is thinking.

True. But the update was relatively minimal, and only to the 27" model (I have the 21.5" one). Besides that, at this point, I don't understand why they still come out with more Intel-based updates, when they have already announced an upcoming change to a -presumably better- architecture and design around the corner.
The update gave you 10 core processors, all ssd, a way better web cam and the option for the nano textured glass. And you're words were 'due for an update'. Had you said "due for a MAJOR update" then I wouldnt take as much issue with your post.
Remember grashopper, words matter - they convey specific meaning. If you want to be properly understood, choose your words with care.

I'd still love to see, at a minimum, feature parity with the iPad Pros, but if there was something like the 12" MacBook, but with ARM, option for 16GB RAM, ProMotion screen, FaceID, Magic Keyboard, I'd jump at that.

Apple has registered those device in the ECC in Europe as some of them being new ones:
- A2147, A2158, A2182, A2337 & A2338 are portable (laptops)
- A2348, A2338 & A2339 are desktop devices

Apple Fall ECC.png

If we get closer look at
* the portables:
- A2147 is close to A2141 (MBP 16") & A2158 close to A2159 (MBP 13" TB). Those can be 10th gen Intel upgrades on those models.
- A2182 is close to A2179 which is MBA 2020 model
- A2337-38 are at the end and could show 2 new ARM models, suggesting maybe new form factor of some sort (??)

* the desktops:
- A2348 & A2338-39 are two separate devices with the latter being in two models.

Interestingly the DTK Mac mini is also listed there with AS, not sure why? Is it going to be on sells?

It is unlikely that the 11th gen Intel appear in november on Macs coz Intel delayed the 11th gen to next year

If Apple were to come out and say, we are releasing blah in 6 months, mark your calendars! They could lose 6 months of potential sales. There is a reason that official announcements and pre/order dates are so close together. I am actually surprised that Apple made the announcement at WWDC. Look at all of the speculation brewing, and many enthusiasts holding off on purchases, but many more still buying. Apple wants to sell their current models, they don't want everyone waiting to make purchases. That is just good business. I am anxious for this announcement, as I want to see how well AppleSI performs in the real world, with real applications. <begin soap box>People keep pointing out GeekBench scores as proof that Apple CPUs are "blowing" Intel's offerings away, but GeekBench is not a good representation for real world use cases. If GeekBench scores were representative of real world performance, my iPhone 11 Pro Max (https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/1282246) is nearly twice as fast as my older 2015 MacBook Pro (https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/2377237). Heck, based on GeekBench, my i9 powered 16" MacBook Pro is slower (https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/2377171). The two MacBook Pros are much more powerful than an iPhone, which is obvious.</end soap box>.

Sorry for the rant :-( I am looking forward to when the first AppleSI systems are officially out :)
