I was unable to read all the posts about this, but seriously?!? Do any of these people have children? I have had remotes found in the bathroom, in the washing machine where they were buried in dirty sheets, and even once in the refrigerator! I mean what teenager doesn't set the remote down on a fridge shelf when they pour a drink while talking to their girlfriend and then close the door and forget where they put the remote?? I think Apple needs to hire some specialists in "real world" use of their products.

I think we have different definitions of lost. Ive never technically lost a remote because ive always found it.

but for quality of life when i say i lose the remote a lot, it can mean just for a few minutes and it can happen while watching tv. This is enough to ruin relaxation time, missing out on the few minutes that my popcorn is still warm, not being able to pause/resume/rewind a show, etc.

It really only takes a few minutes. You are laying in a blanket and the remote slides out of site. You know its there but you cant see it. You get up, whip the blanket hoping it falls out. But nothing.

many times it just slides right under you, but you got popcorn, soda, a blanket, pillows all in the right place and cant move too much.

so its not like you lost it in a black hole are you need to buy a new remote every month. Its just a few minutes that can ruin an experience and if the remote at least made some noice it could all be avoided.

I lost a vcr remote years ago. Never figured out where it went. Must have gone out in a pizza box.

Kids misplace remotes daily. Sometimes they fall off the table or couch arm.

even a buzzer to help.
I have a kid. We use a remote. When finished we put it back near the TV.

Seems fairly straightforward.

You’re a model human being, aren’t you. You sure think so, at least.
I have plenty of problems but having a routine with my devices isn't one of them. I don't usually lose much stuff. Always been aware of where I put things for some reason. I made a bedside shelf for my little remotes.

Right. I've only misplaced mine a few times by doing something else laying the remote down then forgetting where I laid it down at. I just have to retrace my steps and bam! there it is. Otherwise it stays on a pedestal next to the recliner.
I keep mine on a stone pedestal surrounded by booby traps. If I forget to replace it immediately, a giant boulder rolls down my hallway in an effort to crush me.

The fact that the face is no longer black makes it way harder to lose IMO. I cannot count how many times, in a dark room, fumbling around blankets and the couch trying to locate my last one because it was impossible to see.
I have a bright red cover on mine which made it bigger, easier to hold, easier to orient, and easier to find.

with that logic, why do people suddenly need airtags for their wallets and keys?
Dish Network has had 2 way UHF communication with their remotes for many years. You can make it play a sound when lost, the DVR programs the remote IR codes using an on TV screen menu, and the remote can be used to backup the settings and timers of your DVR to transfer to a new DVR if the need arrises.

They charge less for this remote than Apple. Much less. One model has voice control but not Siri. Google and Amazon I believe.

The wife tends to leave things wherever they were last used. Like today, the vacuum, in the middle of the bedroom floor. I once decided that I'd see how long it took her to figure out I wasn't going to pick up her 'stuff' anymore. I gave up at a week. I found the TV remote in the bathroom once. It's not an infrared remote, so it will work from almost anywhere.

The Blu-ray player remote up and disappeared too. I turned the house almost literally upside down and shook it. I found a lot of things I didn't know we had, and a lot of things that we shouldn't have, but never found the remote. Near as I can figure, it fell in the bin, and was tossed for trash day. I imagine a place in an alternate universe where all the socks and remotes, and other detritus lurks, waiting to breach the rift at some point in the future, to be found in this universe again...

It's easy to lose things. I was thinking, while reading the part from the Apple fool, 'Hold my beer! We'll lose that thing in a few weeks, and probably never find it.' Ahh, life... If you can't laugh...

Too big to lose!?!? I've lost the damn car before at the grocery. Someone in Disney World lost their car too. They have a service that will drive you around looking for it. I'd be too embarrassed...

Ahh, but 'Will it blend?'

Because those leave your house. Are you taking your remote on trips with you?
and why does leaving the house matter? do you lose your keys/wallet that often?

I misplace things inside the house much more than outside. In fact, I have never lost my keys/wallet in the nearly 3 decades of having them on my person daily.

Shouldn't get lost in your house. Not so black and white when you're traveling.
I have kids - that remote would go all over the place!

I'm happy that all of you that don't lose things will never have to look hard for your **** trophies.

edit: didn't realize that word would be bleeped! Well, alliteration should get you there.
