You're losing it wrong.
I like to think Steve is looking down and laughing at all these memes and saying, “Ya, you got me.”

I've owned Apple TVs since the start. I've never lost the remove more than 10 seconds of searching. Why is it anywhere other than right next to the couch?
You have your wife/husband/kids trained well!

“Thicker and harder to lose.”

It’s okay folks. They literally introduced AirTags with a video about a guy ‘diving into’ his sofa to find a device, lol
But it wasn’t a remote he was looking for! 😉
I’m a big boy, I put my toys away when I’m done using them. Haven’t lost a remote in years.
I’ll send my wife and kids over. Half of the stuff on your table will be gone in two hours.

It doesn't even need anything super high-techy like a U1 chip or AirTag functionality. Just a discrete button on the Apple TV unit that makes the remote beep when you can't find it.

What’s interesting is that a few weeks ago, it was discovered that Siri has a programmed response for when you ask it to find your Apple TV remote. Something like “you haven’t added any Siri Remotes to Find My.”

So clearly something at some point was planned or is planned in the future, otherwise why would they program that specific response?

well, I guess it’s been removed now. But still curious why it was programmed to begin with.

2 Apple TV remotes are lost in this house right now. But since I ended up replacing one with a new $60 remote, I guess it’s a win for Apple that I can’t find the other ones.

The true reason - "we wanted profit margins on this remote to be astronomical since every Apple TV owner will upgrade"

Same $60 price, but they no longer need an accelerometer or gyroscope, no more glass trackpad.

They didn't even need to add U1...just a little 2 cent piezoelectric speaker to play the AirTag sound.

Oh cool, I'm glad this will prevent my wife from randomly leaving it somewhere around the first floor of my house or from my kids running off with it and it ending up in their toy box. Or keep it from falling down the crack between my sectional couch and the reclining portions on the end, just like the previous one did inside a thick silicone case. No, that definitely won't happen at all ever.
