It’s amazing how many people, including Phil Schiller apparently, are threatened by opposing views.

Although Musk is no saint, I support him in his effort to make Twitter a fairer place for all.
I’ll guess Phil Schiller is hardly threatened by opposing views. Too much social media is based on ”court of public opinion” that is shaped by misinformation and lies. A “fairer place for all” is “fair” only when truthful information rules the day.

I deactivated my account last night as well. I have no problem with opposing views, unless they are completely mean-spirited, ignorant, and bring out the worst in everyone. If Elon wants Trump back on Twitter, that's his prerogative. He paid $44 billion, he can whatever he wants with it. I just have no interest in being advertising revenue for him.

Snowflakes and Bunny Hill babies are bothered by Musk now when they used to love him. Apple has no standing to judge others and Schiller is just a spoiled brat trying to play to his audience. If you have courage and principals you stay and model the behavior you believe in, you do not run away tossing pejoratives (implied or stated) over your shoulder.

For the record, I'm staying. A lot of people I like are on Twitter and are also staying. I'm genuinely worried for the future of the platform though, because Musk seems to be making huge decisions that don't make any sense.

Who knows, maybe everything will be fine. But I think the platform would have benefited from Elon taking things a bit slower, and not being a total ******* to his employees.

The ultimate question is if Apple itself, along with other major players, leave Twitter. Many companies do not want to be associated with toxic brands. Advertisers are fleeing en masse and allowing controversial people back on the platform is just asking for further trouble. Of course, Apple (and Google) could cripple Twitter by removing it from their App Stores for content issues.

There are additional questions as to where Musk got his financing. Which banks? Which wealthy individuals? What foreign countries? Russian banks? Peter Thiel? The Kochs? Saudi Arabia? China? They all have reasons to help fund Twitter and change it to a more friendly platform for their benefit. Follow the money, always.

Investors will also have a say once the opening bell on Wall Street rings Monday. Expect a bloodbath as big institutional players drop Tesla from their holdings.
how funny your first thoughts just like most people here on macrumors and reddit are just wanting censorship to remove the app from appstore . Haven’t you learned from Gab that tactic doesn’t work

Most will not actually quit, and the people that follow through will be back.. Just like they didn't leave the USA when they said they would. All the "quit" talk just shows what an echo chamber it was and that nobody really wants any opinions other than the ones they cuddle up with on their tear stained pillow..

The fact that everyone needs to talk about twitter 24/7 is telling. When I quit something I don't need to virtue signal that I quit it.. lol

False.

My anecdotal example: I quit Facebook years ago and have never returned. I quit Twitter (I’d been on it almost since the beginning) the day Musk took over. I won’t be back.

I’m not unique in this regard. Twitter is not a necessary utility. It’s a crap-show. A home for trolls.

I don't like Trump, but I like censorship less. Shine a light on everything.

Mr. Trump was not censored. Censorship involves government intervention. Twitter is not a government organization. It’s a business. As a business it can allow or deny anyone it wishes. It is not obligated to allow any content on its services.

Let’s get the terms right at the very least. Like him or hate him, Trump was not censored. In fact he simply started his own platform to rant on.

when a government communicates to many social apps and businesses to censor a person and topic (covid) then yes it’s censorship

Apple's Phil Schiller, responsible for Apple events and the App Store, has deactivated his Twitter account following recent developments on the platform.

He was also one of those that was more on the creative side of things within Apple's executive ranks. Maybe he is just doing the proper due diligence and getting his affairs in order before he does what so many others have already done... which would be smart. He is in the executive suite and sees the attitude the executive management and internal power brokers are trying to implement into the group at that level... he never seemed like the parasite Wall Street type, so him getting out soon only makes sense.

Of course if its about the other thing, I am okay with that too.

i don't even understand what people are outraged about. he bought it and owns it, and wants to improve it and everyone is upset because he allows people on there that you have a disagreement with. where is all this self-righteousness coming from? most twitter users are secular so they don't even have a justification for their fake moral codes
Not a twitter user, but I'm pretty sure they banned Trump because of he broke the terms of service by posting covid disinformation, election lies, and content that incited violence and an insurrection. It's never been just a "disagreement".

Schiller just mad he’s not in the three comma club.
