i don't even understand what people are outraged about. he bought it and owns it, and wants to improve it and everyone is upset because he allows people on there that you have a disagreement with. where is all this self-righteousness coming from? most twitter users are secular so they don't even have a justification for their fake moral codes
Not "everyone". Just one side of the political spectrum. The rest of us want actual free speech on Twitter. Even if that means someone else gets mad.

If you honestly thing nothing has changed at Twitter over the last few months… well… okay. Good for you I guess.
I don’t get my knickers in a wad about a social media platform. I don’t use Twitter any more or less now. It’s still a free platform to come and go as I wish. What’s changed? Political agendas are driving people away. It’s not Musk, Trump, or whoever or whatever else.

Nobody cares who deactivated their account because there’s information on Twitter they believe to be false, hateful, etc. If that’s the litmus test then people ought not to be on any social media or watch any mainstream media. There’s hateful, false dis/misinformation abounding on all media outlets.

And yet they allowed known Islamic terrorists to use the platform, as well as Iran’s leadership. That’s ok though.
Taking your post on its face, I would say no it isn't. But not knowing the exact situation, I can't say for sure. Conservative media like to take things out of context and twist situations to try to illustrate hypocrisy where none exists to foster a victim mentality in the conservative base. It's the same thing that caused jan 6th. So when I hear stuff like "so-and-so did the exact same thing..." to promote or defend trump or some other conservative, I always take it with a grain of salt.

There, fixed that for you.

Except that it isn’t. He’s talking about established and documented facts. But as most MAGAs are violently allergic to facts I suppose I can see why you’re confused.
understand this , Republicans from what I am seeing have been investing on platforms outside of the mainstream . They invested in Gab, Parler, Rumble , Odysee , Bitchute, Minds, Communities.win, Truth Social. While “Democrats” are stuck using Twitter , Youtube , Instagram, Facebook. Democrats are trying and failing with Mastodon. Get your facts straight

TWITTER IS A PRIVATE COMPANY.

There is no expectation of free speech on the service. Twitter is not a public space. It is not funded by tax dollars. It is entitled to set up its own terms of service (basically its own laws for its users) and enforce them with impunity.

So long as people labor under the drastic misconception that Twitter has ANYTHING to do with free speech and censorship nothing will be resolved. It certainly doesn’t help that Musk himself abuses these terms constantly as he weakly attempts to cast himself as a hapless victim.

How anyone is fooled by any of this is beyond me.

Lol so much courage.. It is laughable how so many hang on to every little piece of social media like that is how the world actually works. Believe it or not, life will go on and you can always go outside and enjoy the weather instead of burying your face behind a screen holding onto what every "influencer/celebrity" posts..

Yes there is. The CEO has set that expectation very publicly and very often.

sorry but no it’s an overreaction virtue signaling
Sorry, but if Elon asked me for my opinion, I'd gladly provide it, and maybe stick with the platform. But he hasn't, and only seems to pay attention to the numbers. So, I'm exercising my "free speech" and letting Elon know my opinion in the only way that seems to matter. Do you have a better idea as to how I can let Elon know my opinions on how he is mishandling Twitter?

I hope Phil and all these people will start their own platforms, aka the right platforms with the right ideology. At the end of the day it was them who were saying, create your own platform if you don't like the current one. It's a private company and can do whatever it wants. They said that..

The CEO can babble about it all he likes but it doesn’t make it true. Until Twitter is funded by tax payers “free speech” and “censorship” have NOTHING to do with it.

It isn’t as if the legal definitions of these things are obscure or hidden. I’m pretty sure anyone here can go read up on them instead of just letting Elon Musk and Tucker Carlson tell you what it’s about.

Trump likely legally *can’t* go back to Twitter. If he leaves Truth Social it dies, and his investors wouldn’t be happy, so they probably made him sign a contract saying he wouldn’t return if he could.

I believe the agreement he has is that Truth Social gets priority (first posts and can’t be repeated elsewhere for a period of time) on statements he makes but he would at least eventually be able to post on other social media sites about various things including politics, voting, fundraising, etc.

Not fixed. I specifically called out conservative media because they aren't even remotely interested in providing facts and information. None of them. They are engaged in propaganda to promote and support conservative power. The rest of the media is either actually trying to inform or are a reaction to the conservative media's disinformation and propaganda. If it weren't for Fox News there would never be an MSNBC. There are good media outlets like NPR and AP and the like that are just doing their best to dispel the misinformation and report the actual news. Don't paint those institutions with the same brush as Fox, OAN, Sky News, News Max... etc...
