Hopefully the iWork apps get the iOS 26 update along with these new devices. Microsoft has been rolling out their Liquid Glass Office apps.

The iPod became trendy, and people wanted to be seen with the white earbuds. Plus is was genuinly a good device. I had my 4th gen monocrome model until last year...sold it for a bit over $100 on fleabay..not bad for being 20 years old.

The AVP is for sitting alone in a room and isolating yourself, is uncomfortable, and doesn't have a use case.
Agreed. For its price point, the iPod was incredible.

For the first time anyone could carry around whatever they wanted to hear. It looked great & was easy to use.

Ripping your existing cds, syncing and making playlists was easy.

And buying music digitally literally was revolutionary at the time due to the itms.

It really was a ‘must have’ at the time (given that consumer products are intrinsically not essential).

Just give me a dang version of the Vision Pro that supports mild prism on the prescription inserts, and I'll be an owner.

Regardless of the future of the platform, AR glasses progress, or anything else, the virtual Mac screens feature is an absolute killer app for folks with a small home office and who travel. It's worth the price of admission for that alone, even if I never use the onboard OS at all.

I'd own one now if Apple would let me buy one. (And I mean that very literally--if you are trying to purchase, it asks for your prescription, and if said prescription has prism Apple literally won't sell one to you. Which I suppose is better than selling you something you can't use, but doesn't feel very good.)

It is genuinely infuriating how consumers refuse to support Apple's vision. The Vision Pro could be the start of a new computing era.

I couldn't agree more. And then, those some consumers whinge and moan about the lack of innovation coming from Apple these days.

FWIW Vision Pro is an incredible product that has become integral to my lifestyle. I genuinely couldn't live without it, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the new hardware.

Make it run macOS! Don’t force people to have a Mac to run mac apps on it!
It would run visionOS, but would have equivalent features to macOS to do Mac-like stuff. You need a satellite Mac to achieve this now. The idea is you shouldn't. So currently customers are paying Mac prices and not getting Mac-like features. I don't believe this would make the device anywhere near as popular as regular Macs because they would remain cheaper and easier to use, but it would further justify why Vision Pro exists.

The real question for now remains: will Apple release a lower-budget Vision product that aims to be an iPad alternative, while they push Vision Pro further to be a Mac alternative?

I’ve been waiting for this new gen Apple TV for a while fully expecting that it would get some sort of announcement this month. Even have the wife asking about it as she’d like one in our bedroom now.

It would be therefore be very disappointing not to see one get revealed.

Hurry up with it Apple!

If they were waterproof, I would take them on my next snorkeling trip. Nothing like having a large fish pull up next to you and give a thumbs up at your new drip. 🥳

Apple plans to announce new products "this week," according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

Apple's "Mac Your Calendars" teaser last October

In his Power On newsletter today, Gurman said the products set to be updated this week include the iPad Pro, Vision Pro, and "likely" the base 14-inch MacBook Pro, with all three likely to receive a spec bump with Apple's next-generation M5 chip.

Gurman does not expect Apple to hold an event to announce these products. Instead, there will likely be a series of press releases on the Apple Newsroom website, and there might also be shorter promotional videos for each product on YouTube.

Monday is the Columbus Day holiday in the United States, and Thanksgiving in Canada, so we shall see if Apple holds its announcements until Tuesday or later.

iPad Pro

The next iPad Pro was already leaked in a pair of unboxing videos out of Russia. The videos confirmed that the device will be equipped with the M5 chip, and an increased minimum of 12GB of RAM, but no major design changes were visible.

There is one minor design change: "iPad Pro" is no longer inscribed on the back of the device.

It was previously rumored that the next iPad Pro models would be equipped with two front cameras, instead of one, making it easy to have video calls in both portrait and landscape orientations. However, there was no evidence of a second front camera in the unboxing videos out of Russia, so it is unclear if this rumor will pan out.

Geekbench 6 results shown in one of the unboxing videos revealed the M5 chip will stick with a 9-core CPU, with three performance cores and six efficiency cores. The results showed the M5 chip will offer up to 12% faster multi-core CPU performance, and up to 36% faster GPU performance, compared to the M4 chip in the current iPad Pro.

Vision Pro

Vision-Pro-Person.jpg

An updated version of the Vision Pro is also expected to be equipped with an M5 chip, although an earlier rumor said the device would receive an M4 chip.

There could also be an R2 chip for improved input processing, but the report said that chip would be manufactured with TSMC's latest 2nm process, and Apple's first chips using that process are not expected to debut until the second half of next year.

Apple is expected to start including a more comfortable "Dual Knit Band" head strap in the box with the updated Vision Pro, and the headset could get a Space Black color option. The device will continue to support Wi-Fi 6, rather than Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7, according to FCC documents that were erroneously made available for public viewing.

It is unclear if these changes will be enough for Apple to consider the updated Vision Pro to be a second-generation model. Recent reports have indicated that Apple has suspended development of a truly next-generation Vision Pro, along with a lightweight and lower-cost "Vision Air" model, as it focuses its efforts on smart glasses.

14-inch MacBook Pro

m3-mbp-space-black.jpg

A base 14-inch MacBook Pro with an M5 chip is "ready for launch," according to Gurman.

A few days ago, AppleInsider reported that a base MacBook Pro with an M5 chip would be released before higher-end models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, which are expected to follow in early 2026. Beyond the M5 chip, no significant changes are expected.

Bigger changes to the MacBook Pro are expected with the two-generations-away models, with rumored upgrades including an OLED display, touchscreen capabilities, a thinner design, built-in cellular connectivity, and M6 chips manufactured with TSMC's latest 2nm process, for even greater year-over-year performance gains.

Other Products

New models of the Apple TV, HomePod mini, and AirTag are "still very much on the road map," according to Gurman, but he did not provide any update on timing.

He also expects new entry-level iPad, iPad Air, Studio Display, and MacBook Air models, along with an iPhone 17e, to launch early next year.

I wish I could be as bad at my job as Gurman is at his.

“I’m coming into work some time between Monday and Friday this week. I’m selling between 3 and 5 products total”

I dont understand the commenters pining for a new AppleTV. What would you possibly want from a new model.

I have an ATV 4 (2015) and with OS upgrades over the past 10 years its slowed down. I would also like a 4K capable ATV. So yeah, no sense to buy the current model. I'll just wait for the next ATV 4K.

I've been looking at stock availability for HomePod minis across the UK and there are a good number of stores (including the flagship at Regent Street and Battersea which is Apple's London HQ) with none of the Midnight or White models in stock, which may be a good sign of a refresh sooner rather than later.

Oh yeah, it’s infuriating how these ungrateful peasants sorry…consumers just don’t understand Apple’s genius. Like, imagine thinking $3,499 isn’t a reasonable price for the privilege of pretending to type in midair. People out here complaining they can’t afford groceries, when really, they should be selling their cars, kidneys, and maybe one child to fund the future of spatial computing.
Buy me one for the cause...

This has to be the most ridiculous comment I’ve read in recent months wrt the Avp. Some salty clown who clearly IS a peasant who can’t for the life of him understand that 3,499 for what was clearly the most advanced piece of consumer hardware kit on the planet, is too much for HIM, so he takes to macrumors to express his disdain for a product he’s never owned and likely never will- if he or she has even ever tried or owned the tech in any way shape or form. LOL, your screen name only implies explicitly that you’re indeed a cheap (checks notes… peasant… oh… wups: “consumer”.)

This to me sounds more like someone who wants something cutting edge, but can’t handle the fact that his inability to achieve a simple goal is beyond his skillset and therefore must blame a tech company for his own pathetic shortcomings.

The privilege of typing in mid air? The selling of cars, kidneys, and maybe one child? How old are you 12? Please. While I can enjoy sarcasm as much as can be appreciated in such a case, seriously, if you want cheap go support suckn’duckberg and his trash and enjoy your half baked pos instead of whining about the price of what many consider to be the best thing  has come out with in the last 20 years.

Sure if you think you’ll only ever use something like that once, don’t be a fool and buy something that you clearly shouldn’t. That said, since there are always plenty who buy things based on hype instead of a clear minded use case scenario as I did- one can use that to their advantage.

That all being said, a wise consumer doesn’t always buy things at full retail for the price that is clearly beyond YOUR reach. I paid half the retail cost for one that was mint, and can’t wait to experience the product every day like it’s Christmas morning.

Like anything that new, I for one am over the moon  took that leap. I am unapologetic when it comes to buying something I’ve waited for my entire adult life for, and from the exact company that SHOULD make the product.

Much like the Mac Pro, or say an iPhone PM with 2tb memory, if you have no reason to do so, then don’t. It’s just that simple.

Finally, my tldr makes it obvious that this is not the device for everyone, and surely not for the peasantry, oops I mean: average “penny packing” consumer who couldn’t care less. The same that guy who would be crying how un-innovative  is in another thread when it suits your how dare apple do that narrative.

Imagine writing 800 words to tell the internet you overpaid for a headset. I stopped halfway through due to secondhand embarrassment. Calm down, Tony Stark it’s not that deep, it’s just VR.

I would, if the price was right (which it currently isn't).

(I was about to test one in the Apple Store this weekend when my son reminded me that those demo units have touched a lot of faces.) 😒

It solved so many obvious problems. Like forgetting to pack the right mixtape for a road trip. Ot trying to decide which tapes would fit in hand-baggage.

They need to…

But we can’t just do Mac virtual display if we’d want to use Mac apps on there!
