For months, it has been rumored that iPhone 12 models will not come with a charger in the box, and Bloomberg's Mark Gurman now claims that this move will extend to Apple's entire iPhone lineup following its event today, including the iPhone SE.

Last month, the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE launched without chargers in the box, so it would be natural for iPhones to follow suit. This briefly excluded higher-end Edition and Hermès versions of the Apple Watch Series 6, but those models now ship without chargers too. iPads continue to be bundled with a power adapter in the box.

Apple is set to host an event later today, where it is widely expected to unveil four new iPhone models, including the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini, 6.1-inch iPhone 12, 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max. All four devices are expected to feature 5G support, OLED displays, and a new flat-edged design like the iPad Pro.

This morning, reputable leaker Evan Blass shared what appear to be official images of the entire iPhone 12 lineup, along with images of the so-called HomePod mini, which is also expected to be introduced at Apple's event today.

Apple's event begins at 10 a.m. Pacific Time today — here's how to watch. Follow along with MacRumors for live coverage of the announcements.

I'd be okay with this if most people had spare USB-C Charging Adapters and USB-C to Lightning Cables but we don't, the transition to these new adapters just barely started. Awful timing in my opinion.

Normally I wouldn't care, but it's actually quite ridiculous given that most people don't yet have USB-C charging cables/bricks to make use of the faster charging made for these newer batteries.

What if Apple lowers the price with the same amount a charger costs, that would make sense, only people who needs one orders those chargers for the same money as before with the included charger.
This way it wouldn't cost a dime extra for the ones that need a new charger, cheaper iPhone for the ones that don't need one, and as an added bonus it will be better for the environment.

Truth is, Apple will announce a MagSafe adapter today, specially designed for the iPhone. But no one will care—that is unless the new iPhone came without an adapter. So you see how this is yet another ploy by Tim Cook and Phill Schiller. This is morally evil. Now is the time to switch to Samsung. Now is the time.

Over years people collected too many phone/tablet adapters, laying around in house so not having adapter in box is not a problem for most. Moreover, people have high power output multi-ports fast charging power adapters in house so again no need for power adapter in box with every phone or tablet shipped. Help save earth for not ending up in landfill.Though, don't mind having MiFi cable(go bad overtime) shipped with phone until wireless charging with no port phones/tablets are shipped.

Cmon. I bought a XS Max *two years ago* (when it was brand new) and it same with the same tiny 5W USB-A cube and corresponding cable. Only ONE generation of users got a cube with USB-C? (Along with, like, half a generation of SE owners…)

What I wonder is if this will lead to more sales of the USB-C cubes on their own (I certainly like to keep one as a spare for travel)—i.e., in their own entire packaging…because Apple cares about the environment over all! 😂🧐

Planning to upgrade from an iPhone 6S. Not particularly happy that I will be forced to spend another twenty bob on a charging brick.

I don’t buy the ‘cutting down on e-waste’ line as Apple has held onto their own port system creating waste for years. Poor show.

i know of people that do, they charge faster. Also most computers have USB C now so i think people would welcome the cord.

wait, if they change from a usb-a to a USB-C cable, than their whole environmental BS is just that, BS since the existing chargers are not working with usb-c or am I missing something?

Right!!! Removing charger and headphones going to save the planet meanwhile more variant of iPhones are introduced.
This is not about selling fewer iPhones. Apple still wants to sell as many iPhones as possible and people still want to buy the latest iPhone. This move is about reducing the e-waste that people don't use anyway

USB C is much faster, charging a 5g iphone with a larger battery will be very slow with a an old uSB a brick. Besides gan chargers are smaller and better anyway.

Don’t ask too many questions, just pay up!

Make sure you buy the Apple silicone case as well and several Apple Watch bands.

Nearly all built in USB charging ports in every home, car, office, airport, airplane, mall, etc are USB-A.

so yeah, give everyone USB-C cables.
