Right!!! Removing charger and headphones going to save the planet meanwhile more variant of iPhones are introduced.
If they really want to "save the environment" all they have to do is limit people to one iPhone every other year or every third year. That would be huge. But its just about money.

I for one don’t, so I have to make sure I set aside an extra $50-$75 for the adapter and charging cable if it’s not included. I have AirPods Pro so I don’t care about the EarPods.
Yep, it's a huge money grab given how cheap it is to manufacture and the price that they're marked up at.

Reality is, everything required to use a device, should come in the box. Full stop.

If the next iPhone I buy doesn't come with a charger, I will simply exchange it when it runs out of power, and then exchange that one, and then exchange that one. If I can't charge a phone and it can't charge itself, then it is defective and should be returned. Period.

Got no problem with them removing earpods and the charger. Just wish they'd ditch lightning and get everything on usb-c. Even with its pretty awful connector its clearly "won". Lightning has no place anymore.
Agreed and here in the EU they will have no choice soon enough to have to include an adapter. It will be mandated by law shortly.

Good luck with that genius bar visit. Please record!

Don't worry, Lightning will be going away soon. No USB-C replacement.

Timeline:

So far
Move to wireless data backup, iOS upgrades and file transfers
iPhone: Introduce Qi charging
iPad Pro and iPad Air: Removed Lightning. Moved to USB-C because it's more like a Mac.
Pencil 2: wireless charging, no Lightning.

Today
iPhone: Introduce MagSafe for fast contactless charging

Later this year/throughout next year
Apple TV Siri Remote with wireless charging. No Lightning.
Remove Lightning from Magic Touchpad, Mouse, now USB-C.

Fall 2021
Remove Lightning from iPhone Pro in 2021, lower end models the following year or across the board if done at once. MagSafe contactless for fast charging, wireless for data transfers. Physical connectors only on Macs and iPads. iPhones completely sealed.

Well,
Headphones I don't care about, I've been using different earphones since forever.

But I'll have to buy the wall charger as all of mine chargers are USB, not USB-C.

And I'll have to buy a glass protector and a case.

Having said that - I cannot wait to put my old SE into the drawer and buy the black 12 Mini. Actually, the blue colour I'm liking more and more...

;-)

Good luck with that.

Do you replace your car when it runs out of gas, too?

Normally I wouldn't care, but it's actually quite ridiculous given that most people don't yet have USB-C charging cables/bricks to make use of the faster charging made for these newer batteries.
"most" meaning you? The fact remains that many devices come with charges, more than 1 ends up being junk and destined for landfills (or god bless the few that take to electronic recycling centers), So it is a great move for all manufacturers to do this. Get 1, or a power strip, or a power outlet, or a wireless charger!

Apple-we remove needed items, charge you the same-all in the name of the environmental consciousness.

Same, could have used one but oh well... it was a great watch for a day.
That is really funny. You honestly want anyone to believe that you returned a watch that (I guess really didn't want in the first place) over a brick, of which you probably have a whole drawer full? I'm still laughing, good one

They should offer a $30 Apple gift card to everyone who doesn't want the charger. But of course, that's gonna eat the profit margin on those ridiculously cheaply made, overpriced items.

Yah, if only this whole drawer full of these things would just work with other devices. I have them all carefully labelled. This brick for my kindle, this brick for my iPhone, this brick for my.......

No, not "most" meaning "me." This was an objective comment in regards to the fact that USB-C did not start shipping with iPhone devices until the iPhone 11, one year ago. And the majority of people do not have the newest iPhone and thus likely do not own a USB-C charging brick. So most, as in literally most people.

never had a Samsung I take it

This is not about selling fewer iPhones. Apple still wants to sell as many iPhones as possible and people still want to buy the latest iPhone. This move is about reducing the e-waste that people don't use anyway

This has sweet FA to do with e-waste. This is to increase profit: no extras in the box and charge 15-20 USD for a wall charger.

If they cared about e-waste they would permit cost effective battery upgrades rather than glue them into all their new devices (in my (north European) country Macbook Pro battery replacement costs 350USD...)

My guy, it's a joke 😂

Have the watch on my wrist right now, I like it and have found a way to get juice in it.
