I’m more concerned about lack of headphones. While I have airpods I frequently also use 3.5mm plugged phones and line-out in the car. I dislike paying big money and then having to pay more for lightning headphones and/or adapters for my family.

Over years people collected too many phone/tablet adapters, laying around in house so not having adapter in box is not a problem for most. Moreover, people have high power output multi-ports fast charging power adapters in house so again no need for power adapter in box with every phone or tablet shipped. Help save earth for not ending up in landfill.Though, don't mind having MiFi cable(go bad overtime) shipped with phone until wireless charging with no port phones/tablets are shipped.

Don't you think we already crossed the line, too little too late.
The only way that can help us now is that this corona kills most of us, just look at 6 months ago, Mount Everest could be seen from Katmandu for the first time in Decades, Delhi/Beijing/Jakarta had clean skies again amongst many other cities in the world again, skies became clear, even here in Europe, lost of examples more.

A few chargers less won't help safe this planet, actually, the planet will be OK, might take a bit to recover but it will, we on the other hand won't.

I really expected them to give some sort of incentive to the buyer for this. The phone being cheaper than previous generation by $25 or something along those lines. But no, the regular iPhone 12 is even more expensive than the regular iPhone 11.

Also, the fact that they're shipping a USB-C to Lighting cable with the phone means that people that have had USB-A port chargers which shipped with their previous iPhones will have to have them replaced with chargers that have a USB-C port. How is that good for ecology?

Hmmm...

So in a valiant effort to save environment apple will offer an increase in price and a reduction in the amount of chargers included.

The carbon footprint of every iphone sold would be smaller compared to previous generations. Meanwhile, they’ll store our money in an environmentally friendly way.

Got no problem with them removing earpods and the charger. Just wish they'd ditch lightning and get everything on usb-c. Even with its pretty awful connector its clearly "won". Lightning has no place anymore.

Good. We don’t need em’ when most have spares laying around. Less waste.

Except most don’t have USB-C charging bricks laying around, especially when Apple is selling iPhones up until today with USB-A. This is clearly a move to increase profit, otherwise Apple would’ve started preparing consumers by including the 18W charger with all iPhones from last year before making such a large move. Now most people that are buying a new phone, especially from much older models, will have to also purchase a new charger.

I don’t care about the damn environment. Who cares. Just dump all that ewaste in a different country or in the ocean. Or in space. No one cares about the environment. But what we do care about is free adapters. I have 9 5-watt adapters and 9 EarPods. I like having them just in case.
True. Also true, not everyone renews their phones every year. Offer the option to not include the charger and reduce the price accordingly.

Normally I wouldn't care, but it's actually quite ridiculous given that most people don't yet have USB-C charging cables/bricks to make use of the faster charging made for these newer batteries.
So, is that definite that the new phones charge via USB-C ONLY? IF so, that's a much bigger deal than not being able to use a lightning input.

As long as they don't get rid of a physical connector to the phone, so I can still use CarPlay and charge my phone via a cable, I guess I can live with this decision from Apple.

As I’ve heard rumour future iPhones won’t have a port this worries me. I highly doubt Apple will ever do such a thing as diagnostics require physical connections and the only way to backup and recover iOS Health records is with encrypted backups on a Mac or PC, yet never say never.

As for not including cables and EarPods I view this as a good thing as too many of us have cables and unused EarPods laying around which only contributes to e-waste. Yet it would be nice if Apple reflected this in the pricing of their products. Even if it’s only $20-40, it’s the principle that matters.

Exactly. It’s clearly a money grab exercise, as they know very well that very few people have a usb-c power adaptor, as it’s never been included in iPhone boxes (except iPhone 11 Pro).

I for one don’t, so I have to make sure I set aside an extra $50-$75 for the adapter and charging cable if it’s not included. I have AirPods Pro so I don’t care about the EarPods.

Wow, so let’s give you less for the same price.
And too bad for new customers buying the SE as their first iPhone. Tough luck, nothing to charge it with and no headset. Oh you want those? Pay more. So much for the value as it will add about $50 to the normal price.

It’s already hard to understand the need to nickel and dime he flagship iPhone 12, but nickel and dime existing lineup and even the cheapest SE? And yeah, that SE is around USD $500 plus in my country, not exactly a cheap phone. Apple, you’re just being a cheapskate.

No, they'll charge with the traditional USB chargers, just not at the speed advertised/to which they're capable of. Doesn't matter if you're an overnight charging person - but for people who charge periodically throughout the day it makes a difference. Also - it's still a lightning port on the iPhone end. But the chord that the new phones comes with will also be useless to those who do not own a USB-C brick or laptop.

Nearly all built in USB charging ports in every home, car, office, airport, airplane, mall, etc are USB-A.

so yeah, give everyone USB-C cables.
you shouldnt never be plugging your phone into anything that isnt yours. real easy to steal your data.
