Especially with Logic now on the iPad. It would suck needing a dongle just to plug in pro headphones….on an iPad PRO.
I guess so, but it isn't an impactful update. Jut a tiny technical update in a single market. It is not acknowledged as in this article and other articles about correct rumours did not mention this at all.
They could but the current frame is aluminum which would still be lighter than titanium. The titanium only replaced the heavy stainless steel on the iPhone Pro.There’s this from earlier this year:

iPad Pro: Should You Buy? Features, Reviews and More
The 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models were updated in May 2024 with the M4 chip, OLED display technology, a thinner, lighter design, and support...www.macrumors.com
I’d assume they’ll move to titanium for the frame. Presumably the OLED assembly is lighter weight as well.
It is, but it’s market specific so it doesn’t “count” in the same way that a wide release product covering the US, Europe and Asia does.
We have a winner for selfish-I-can-only-think-of-myself post if the week. None other need apply.Nope. Not needed.
They are going to use the iPhone 15 strategy, cheaper models use optimized last gen SoC, while the Pro’s use the latest SoC.Given the lapse in iPad Air updates this year & much like the iMac... the iPad Air should jump from M1 to M3. If indeed iPad Pros go up in price because of OLED displays, the iPad Air coming in 2 sizes makes perfect sense to bridge the gap. The lineup will be setup just like the iPhone with iPhone 15/iPhone 15 Plus & iPhone 15 Pro/iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Even SE?Apple is expected to update entire iPhone lineup next year
In my books normal OS able to properly use hardware potential is all iPads need today. They only need to do 3 things:
- A feature to have multiple users/accounts on 1 device.
- 13" iPad Air.
- iPad Pros with OLED screens.
I wouldn't mind getting another one but I won't do it until they add user accounts.Who wants an ipad

At no point, because that would just mean one cannibalizing the other. Apple is too profit-focused to have any interest in that.At what point do the MacBook Air and iPad Pro merge into a single product with a detachable keyboard?
8 Gb SSD & 256 mb RAMApple: "Today we're adding a 12.9" iPad Air to our incredibly bloated lineup and eliminating nothing."
Those are brutally powerful CPUs for a mobile phone operating systemiPad Pros get M3.
iPad Air gets M2.
iPad Mini gets M1?
iPad 11 gets A16?
iPad 9 gets axed.
It took 3.5 years between the iPad mini 4 and 5, so it’s not like anything is guaranteed.Another bold prediction by this guy - since there haven’t been any updates this year, what do we expect Apple to do for next year?
100%. My 2018 Pro still runs great and the latest models give me no good reason to upgrade. On the positive side, it’s great that they are overpowered and built for longevity. What they need to update is a compelling reason to upgrade, of which there are none.
