What are you even saying? Random posts and no substance to know what you're saying.

And that would still be unacceptable.

No one argued whether it was or wasn’t acceptable. Lots of things are unacceptable, yet they still happen. Get over it.

So much for being a "services company" now.

Apple has always been horrible at delivering services. This isn’t anything new, and it’s unlikely to ever change.

My Mac asked for my iCloud password and updates form the App store showed a blank page.
But now it's fine.

Tell us what's acceptable for you, and show me a cloud service that have 100% uptime. Even AWS doesn't have that. If you find one that has 100% uptime, let us know though.

And they say Tim Cook is an operations expert...
Exactly. It’s Tim Cook’s fault. Had you called him Timmy, you’d have totally nailed it. Welcome to MacRumors. You’ll fit right in.

You know nothing, John Snow.

I'm wondering if it's some type of data center cloud problem.
Had a problem streaming certain albums from Spotify. Weird. Does Apple use AWS or other cloud services?

It holds no value here whether it is a American company or not on this matter, most iPhones and Apple gear are sold to non Americans, they do not celebrate 4th of July but are affected.

You'll survive. Happy Birthday America!
[doublepost=1562301435][/doublepost]
TBH why are they opened on the fourth of July... I mean Amerika right... I hated working on the fourth of July for the six or seven customers that would come in. I know sometimes that it was the fault of the mall but apple has to have some influence on this..

Why did you spell America with a k?

I wondering if these issues are, at least partially, the result of attacks?

I'm disappointed to hear that Apple's retail operations are affected. Clearly they have not separated things from iCloud enough and one-point-of-failure is affecting lots of services and operations.
It could be a DNS issue, which would effect many many Apple domains/products across completely separate systems.

Context is important. My acceptable comment was in response to the rationalization about it somehow not being bad if it "only" affected 100k people.

Thought it was me because Apple's system status page indicated that nothing was wrong the entire time (over 12 hours for me).

Seriously, what exactly causes these "outages" to occur?

Also, maybe its a lesson to rely less on few big corporations to run the internet, diversify the damage if you may.

You've just defined.... the internet.

Cloud services ≠ the internet. The internet is "just" the resilient network, not the services provided over it.

Apple today is experiencing problems with a host of iCloud-related services, as outlined on the company's system status page. Affected services include all of the basic iCloud services, as well as services like Find My Friends, Find My iPhone, Game Center, Photos, and Screen Time.

The company says only that "some" users are affected, but social media reports suggest the outage is fairly widespread.

Apple is also having problems with its retail store systems, with a number of users reporting that employees are unable to complete customer purchases or support requests.

Update: Apple Cash, Apple Pay card management, and Mail Drop are now also affected.

Update 2: According to Apple's system status page, all issues have been resolved.

This would never happen if Eddy was CEO.

what exactly made it awkward? "I would like to purchase this" "system is down, sorry, not sure how long for" "oh, weird, ok"
Your business should never have a single point of failure. If it does then you’ve operationally failed and are pretty incompetent at your job. We should see heads roll for this disaster.

I probably overloaded the system when my iPhone suddenly decided to send 30,000 photos to my iCloud account.

When I see a story like this the first I wonder about are the response times from Apple.

When exactly did the issue start? when did other additional products get affected? when did the issue get resolved.

It's a shame the article doesn't track or share data like that.

Update: Apple Cash, Apple Pay card management, and Mail Drop are now also affected.

Update 2: According to Apple's system status page, all issues have been resolved.

I was having sound issues with TV Shows yesterday, I thought it was my speakers but two TVs would have both channels cut out intermittently. No L, no R, no LR, etc. Hulu worked fine...

Cyber attacks on the 4th of July ?

This was about the same time I was trying to get directions through my car navigation, which failed. I then tried Google Maps, which also failed. Surprisingly, Apple Maps was then working. So I think there might have actually been something more widespread.
