" you pay attention in the very last picture of the gallery there is a a banner with written on MacOSX 10.3 Panther, I guess for that point it is not a rumor anymore. Panther is going to be demoed and announced."

I would have to agree with you. Look at all the banner's. They are done in grey and black. If you notice one states "evolution of the species"....Panthers is COMING!

I wonder if those are the same G5 PowerBook-containing boxes that started showing up at Apple Stores immediately preceding WWDC ...

I'm time-zone challenged. The keynote will be in something like 15 hours, right? I guess what I'm asking is that for those of us in the US, the Apple store should be updated tomorrow morning, right?

here it is
keynote starts at 10h00 in Paris, so it will be 04h00 in US on the east Coast, then of course Apple Store goes off line worldwide for update, then let say around 11h30 Paris Time, so 05h30 US East Coast time, the store will be back after Steve Job announced the new poerbook , Panther, iOffice, ....

Those were iSight cameras and "new" G4 PowerMacs in those "secret boxes" back in June...

smart is made by DaimlerChrysler AG. It was originally a coalition of Daimler-Benz and Swatch and was later taken over by DB because Swatch can't deal with losses of that magnitude. Currently the smart likely to make it to thte US is an SUV based on the forfour which is a joint venture with Mitsubishi whcih is also owned 34% by DaimlerChrysler AG. You won't see MMC on DCX's web site because they are not wholly owned. Chrysler is, though.

Daimler-Benz / DaimlerChrysler holds the distinction of being in the auto industry what pre-Jobs Apple was in the computer industry.

Note - yes, in my non-Mac life I report on cars.

Nope. It's a SMART car, quite popular in Europe (or so I hear). They now come with an optional built-in iPod.

No. The stores get boring cardboard boxes.

Ah... such a sweet way to die. The new 15" firmly in your grip as the apple guards fill your body with bullets.

See, old tech CAN be superior. Think those bullets would have had a chance with a Titanium PB? NO WAY, IT'S TITANIUM BABY!

Exactly. I think those non-descript mice indicate Apple has finally gotten a clue and the new Apple mice will be 2-button and scrollable as well as bluetooth based.

The wired mice are all connected to non-bluetooth iBooks aren't they?

for what it's worth, as well as the last photo spelling out 'panther', look at the 2'nd row down, right side photo (DSC00801.JPG). There is a clearly a picture of the 'file vault' in the banner as
well.

There is no way Apple would keep g5 pb's in locked metal boxes on the show floor for anyone to roll away.

Yea, just stick a couple of those things in your pocket, and you'd be gone before anyone noticed you.

I can't believe nobody else noticed this..

From all of the expo experience I've had, the iBooks with the mice in question aren't set up by Apple. The MIGHT be supplied by Apple, but since I've been at several non-mac conventions which use macs for registration, I doubt it. These iBooks are most likely owned, and were most definately set up, by Reed Exhibitions. Even if Apple is supplying the iBooks, it's fairly common practice among exhibition companies to provide a mouse when a laptop is being used in a high-volume public setting due to the fact that many consumers are not well versed in using a touchpad. Therefore, I doubt that there is any direct connection between the release of bluetooth peheriphals and the mice shown in the photo. Now, that's not to say that the bluetooth stuff might not be released all the same, just that those mice probably have nothing at all to do with it.

Beetles with Apple music products inside... sounds like grounds for another lawsuit by Apple Corp. ;)

Re: Panther coming

My goodness, that strange icon is still Xcode. Not iOffice. Xcode!

If you dont believe me (and the dozen other people who have said it) you can look at the little Xcode icon here

What does that mean "built-in iPod"? Beyond just coming with an iPod I mean?

It means that there is a little 'dock' in the car that lets you snap-in your ipod. Nice and clean. None of that 'put an ipod into a cupholder with cables running to deck' VW workaround.

But as I understand it they only did it for a limited series, about 100 or so cars...so far. Oh, and this is off topic but Smart is going to sell cars (the roadster and 4door) in the US ! Wohooo !

English 101 all right already!

My feeling is that the 15" Aluminum PB should have joined its siblings a long time ago.
But with IBM progressing faster than expected with the G5, the project was scrapped in favor G5's across the board. Even the 12" and 17" haven't seen revisions in a curiously long time. Add to that the pricing rumors, and the fact that the G4 has lost all of its clout (even Steve called them tonka trucks) and I think we're in for the G5 PB.

Those boxes contain sedatives for all those G5 delusional Powerbook hopefuls when they hear the truth... there ain't no G5 Powerbooks... only G4s ones!

And can someone tell me why people voted to give a post about pictures a "negative?" Are you people daft? How are pics of the expo negative?!?!

UGH!
