Booth is an english word, that we use in French to describe exhibition place/room...

I agree

On the other hand, A/V equipment for tradeshows commonly gets shipped to/from them in similar cases.
in addition as mentioned by 99mac.com, there are plenty of guards, and I doubt they will let people try to open those boxes, neither moving them with a valid authorization...

I think this is not a keyboard connected to the PB, but a a mixing table for audio and/or video

I know its far-fetched, I know it probly wont happen, I know I will be dissapointed if it doesnt, but I really want to be suprised with G5 powerbooks.

I am going to have a ****y day tomarow, and nothing would be more awesome than to wake up, open the ibook, goto my homepage, and see "Introducing the Powerbook G5, the worlds fastest laptop".

Your homepage is apple.com? ROFL

Is it just me, or are there laptops next to every G5? They all seem aluminum, and really thin, like thinner than the 12"er is now. What do you guys say?

This booth looks exactly (except with G4s 😀 ) like the Apple demo booth @ SIGGRAPH. They were demoing Shake, et. al., every hour or so.

Displays

What do you guys think on the display lineup? Obviously since there are some displays on display (ha ha) with the G5s, we probably won't see a physical redesign... but are there any 17" TFTs? From what I've seen in most pics, I've only seen the 20" Cinema Display? What I'm *hoping* for is to see a price reduction if Apple unveils a larger display, shifting the 20" down to the 17" price and moving the 23" down as well. Just imagine:

Monday, September 15, 2003

17" Studio Display $699
20" Cinema Display $1299
23" Cinema Display $1999

Now what if we saw maybe not new displays replacing those price points, but new displays with LOWER price points?

20" Cinema Display $999
23" Cinema Display $1599

And perhaps a new larger display? Just wondering... and hoping perhaps. Nobody else seems to have mentioned new displays... we've had these for quite a while now. What do you guys think?

I know how you feel. These rumor frenzies provide better entertainment than TV. This is why I always come back to Mac.

I LOVE YOU PEOPLE!

Where the hell is a Tammy Faye Baker emoticon when you need one?

Seriously though, isn't this fun?

😀 I am soooo stupid! I wasn't even close. I love French.

A new finish is overdue. I love the plastics Apple has been using, but the G5 suggests a change in direction. I am kind of surpised the Keyboard has not changed.

Lack of powerbooks

So if apple does not have any powerbooks on display *yet*, then they will definately be updated. I dont care what the update is, but those pictures are the first real indication that powerbooks will be updated tomorrow!!!!

YAY!!!😀

Exactly my point (the downgraded G4's, not so much the iSights ...):

It is beyond foolish to get all up and excited about a locked box.

While I suspect we'll see updated PowerBooks tonight, I do NOTT see the fact that there are locked boxes at a public convention center to be supporting evidence, any more than those "mysterious" Apple Store boxes were evidence of G5 PowerBooks in June.

Go to any reasonably large open-to-the-public convention and you'll encounter multiple locked boxes behind the scenes. These are usually not locked because they contain super-secret-I-can-tell-you-about-them-but-then-I'd-have-to-kill-you new hardware, but, more often than not, because they contain fairly expensive equipment that the owner just doesn't want to get stolen.

well at least we know what's NOT going to be updated.

that leaves PowerBooks, iPods, & Xserves...

I didn't notice any monitors. Maybe they are also in the locked boxes.

Note - yes, in my non-Mac life I report on cars.

Sorry...

Yes, a labtop, not just a laptop, but a computer to be used in labs! It's brilliant!

I'm time-zone challenged. The keynote will be in something like 15 hours, right? I guess what I'm asking is that for those of us in the US, the Apple store should be updated tomorrow morning, right?

1 AM Pacific, 4 AM Eastern, is the Stevenote.

I noticed the keyboards also. I think this a third party vendor and those are specialized keyboards. Most likely for video.

interesting point... monitors

I don't really see many Apple monitors there, some on a non-Mac booth, of course ones on the gooseneck of the iMacs sure... but hardly any cinema displays. Hmmm. Maybe they'll add that to the updated G4 Powerbooks.

PS I'm getting ready for the thread tomorrow for the forums tomorrow to lay into the silly G5 PB camp. [warms up] I told you so. I told you so. I told you so. I told you so.

After a rather boring day at work, thank you all for the laughs. I really liked the fake photo. I mean sure, we might have missed it but the people there, taking the pictures couldn't just read it! Wouldn't need much of a zoom lens to capture that.

Anyway, I'm not going to poo poo the G5 sayers. Yes, it would be nice and on christmas eve we all hope Santa has filled our entire wish list. Well, old St. Steve will drop a bag of goodies but he always misses one item on your list. Don't be surprised if there are no new PB's or if they are just G4's.

I'm just curions, how many of you are going to wait now for the G5 PB? Seriously. In June/July I was willing and ready to buy a new updated G4 PB. Figured if announced then I should have it with in a month and get a good 10-12 months use before a G5 announce. After hearing several reasons (rumors) why the PBs were delayed I now have to question that decision. Most people were saying the reason was due to supply of chips from Moto. So what are the odds they can now meet the pent up demand IF the powerbooks are updated? Add on top of that rumors that Moto was having problems with heat issues on higher speed G4s and now you have to ask are these ones (if announced) going to be problematic? IF there was no G5 and IF there was no major pent up demand, I would say Apple would ensure no heat issues. But with the G5 right around the corner and the need to stop losing money due to no supply of laptops, Apple and Moto might have rushed things.

All that considered, what if new PB don't start shipping until Nov/Dec? Then you could be only 3-6 months away (speculation I know) from a G5 Powerbook. My point is where as two months ago I was ready to buy, now I may wait.

i just think there are too many things to announce.... that not all of them can be possible:

ipod special edition
powerbook
mouse
panther shipped...

oh wait.... it IS possible....

oh, just a reminder.

apple-expo.com is down.

In my opion something big is comeing tomarrow, due to powerbooks are way over due and the absese of powerbooks in the pictures. There is also the fact that a quote keeps poping in my head from WWDC from steve jobs himself, explaining all the things that have come already and its ONLY the first half of the year. Which in my theory means hes got something big up his sleve before MWSF in jan.

Can always rely on Photorun for a bright note of encouragement. 😛

But, if they are G5s, you're gonna have to come in from the cold for your spankin' boy😛
