Tim Apple’s days are numbered. Classic board of directors move - blame the top guy, replace with another.

Apple deserves the lawsuit.

Hopefully they pay sufficiently for it so that they can wake up and start giving us innovations that matters

What a headache. Even a legal team forged in gold might be in for a tough battle this time. But hey, no worries—Apple's lawyers just need to glance at the arguments made by those folks on MR who opposed all the criticism: “Apple never promised any specific features,” “It’s just a delay,” “Apple already issued a formal statement explaining everything.” If they just repeat those lines in court, the judge will surely curl up like a quiet kitten.

This is so true and fair … More of this will follow in Europe on state level because they indeed sold a product based on something that didn’t exist … Some should be sack or resign … This isn’t over … It’s only the beginning

I mean... The current Siri is... ... ... whatever.

But as for Apple Intelligence? This is one of those situations where I'm happy that we don't have it.

I can't say that I want Apple Intelligence changing the way that I write in a Pages document. I'd rather think for myself.

I'm especially terrified for young people in high school and below, especially in schools where iPads are handed out like candy, and without many or any restrictions. The students are already cheating with ChatGPT and other similar AIs.

If Apple Intelligence is released, the students might as well have an AI doing their assignments for them—built into the device itself.

Maybe there will be a way to toggle Apple Intelligence on or off, and that it could be controlled by a parent device out there, somewhere. I don't really trust tech coordinators to know what they're doing, when it comes to that.

I’m not American so I don’t have much experience in knowing if these sorts of lawsuits tend to succeed - but this one surely should do.

From wwdc 2024 the advanced features of apple intelligence were promoted to appear as part of iOS 18.

Apple could kick the can down the road and say iOS 18 has 4-5 months yet, but it’s obvious that these features are not going to appear anytime soon.

Then the launch of the iPhones 16, mentioned Apple intelligence as a big part of why you should upgrade and were very much promoted as a feature of these phones.

Apple kept on doubling down on this with ads throughout the last 6 months, including the campaign that’s been pulled recently.

So I can’t see that Apple has a leg to stand on. If it tries to fight it it’s just continuing to dig its own hole.

I think the main problem that Apple is having with iOS ai is trying to fit it into 8 GB of ram.
I also think they were cheap again, and moving executives to Siri team in 2025 to be ready for 2027 is pointless.

The huge impact was already visible in 2022! At this point, all executives should have stopped their work, and make emergency meetings until they could counteract this threat.

The iPhone 16 generation is the first one that I did not upgrade to since the 3GS. And I don’t regret this decision. It’s quite hard to know what’s actually upgraded from the 15 Pro Max without examining through a microscope - under which only “empty promises” can be found.

Will be interesting to see how this lawsuit will proceed. Will take a long time for Apple Intelligence to develop and be useful.

And even at this moment, it's still shown all over the place

Which at the moment is:

Notifications that get their summaries wrong often and/or just aren’t that helpful. But I don’t mind it.

Ditto with mail.

Image playground, which as gruber rightly skewered them for, seems like a developer example project.

The proofing tools are actually ok. But not really something that ‘only Apple could do’ unless you value the running on device aspect (which I do), but they’re not a ‘wow’ moment as every genai chat bot can do this.

New Siri design which gives the impression that Siri has been upgraded when it hasn’t.

Reduce interruptions which is kinda ok.

And genmoji. Ok.

And I think that’s it?

Pretty underwhelming.

Not to mention that you don't need the power of space rocket in your pants to do any of this stuff. It's all fluff. Nothing warrants an iPhone 16 Extreme Ultra Max for any of this.

That was on a whole different cringe level. Apple’s arrogance sometimes shows up unintentionally in their commercials. Apple needs to think more about the potential negative implications any of their commercials may cause before they first air. It was painfully obvious to many of us from the start that the destruction of instruments in such a brutal way was uncalled for. For many people around the world music instruments represent their chosen career, a way of life that Apple should’ve stayed clear of. Instead they decided to antagonize these people and anyone else who appreciates music and the instruments that make it possible.

Something is really misfiring at Apple now and has been for a few years.
