I am not do quick to dismiss it. There's a reason all the part leaks have been the 4.7".

Yeah... Because there is no 5.5".

This guy comes out and makes his "analyst prediction" that Apple is releasing a 4.7" and 5.5" iPhone this fall and these are the specs and yadda yadda. Then, when he starts to realize that he was wrong, and doesn't want to get called out on being wrong, he comes out with a report saying there are production issues on 5.5" so it's either going to be delayed or not come out for another year. Obviously Apple can't come out and say he's full of ****, because it's all rumors about unreleased products, so he just gets off the hook with this type of "reporting" constantly.

We have seen some part leaks, models, models, but not a single one of them is from 5'5inch phone, so my guess (based on all rumors and possible leaks up to this date) is that no phablet iPhone is coming anytime soon.

The fundumental reason why some people buy phablet is that they need the extra space and try to have phone and tablet in a single device. However, if the software is sufuciently optimized and greatly designed, the same taks which can be easly be performed on 5'5 inch screen could be also performed with the same efficiency on much smaller screen size device. The main cure for the lack of usebility that is associated with smaller screen phones in relation with certain task is the software optimization and not increasing the the screen size. Without great interface design, no matter how much you increase the screen size, it still will be hard to use. Thats is in my opinion, the path which Apple must take in order to maintain the trend towards portable screen size devices like the iPhone and fight the phablet market.

The launch of Apple's 5.5-inch iPhone 6 may be delayed into 2015 as Apple's production issues with the smaller 4.7-inch version will likely carry over into the larger model, according to a new report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

the analyst believes that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 may not launch by the end of 2014, or may launch after October in very limited quantities.

When you breakdown what's being said - he's saying it might launch this year or it might launch next year. So whatever happens, he can claim credit for an accurate prediction.

Rules for Apple hardware rumours.

1. Make a wild guess covering a multitude of options
2. As real parts start to appear refine the rumour
3. As parts DON'T appear for other devices you rumoured/predicted state that Apple has delayed these due to part availability / contracts etc (Apple TV set for example)

Basically Kuo knows he was talking mince about a 5.5" iPhone and is trying to cover his ass. He does the same thing every year.

Oh goody! Now I can go get in line tomorrow so I'll be the first to have a new iPhone! I can take it to a Justin Beiber concert and everyone will know how cool I am! Oh my! I think I'm going to faint with excitement!

I was pretty sure that Ming Chi Kuo was wrong about the release of the iphone 6 this Fall

the guy simply re-adapted the info

how fortunate about the production issues

let it roll

I personally do not care. 4.7' is already big enough, no way I would go to 5.5'. Let Samsung roll that crap

Just so we can make it clear what you are saying.

You are saying a 5.5" iPhone 6 or iPhone7 would be crap.

Yes ?

This sort of nonsense has been shouted for years. Before the 5, 3.5 was the perfect size. Before the leaks for the 6 were begun earnestly, 4 was the perfect size. I personally would love to see a 5.5 iPhone, but if Apple elects not to, that's fine. I won't grumble or threaten to not buy their products anymore, but I also won't try to convince myself that I prefer it when I don't. I'll simply buy something else, probably a Z30 given how pleased I've been with BB10 on my work mobile. The TouchID, Continuity features, and the ecosystem just aren't enough for me to put up with decreased real estate.

While I disagree with your preference toward the larger screen phones, your logic in how you decide to spend your $$$ makes perfect sense. Great post.

I know every product faces yield issues and screen issues at some point in production, but how is it the 4.7 would face less than the 5.5? Why doesn't samsung have these problems? Different display tech? Why doesn't apple use the type Samsung uses if that is the case?

Apple believe Samsung displays are inferior quality. They've said for a while that they believe the iPhone screen is the best on the market and until they can get a bigger screen match it's quality, they won't ship a bigger screen.

I don't know what to believe. For all we know all these part leaks arent real either

Remember when we thought we was getting a 4.5+ inch screen in a iPod tappered design? It was to the point where case manufacturers were making the cases. And what did we get?? The iphone 5.. Soooo. Everything is still up in the air

While I can appreciate what a 5.5 iPhone can do to to apple's bottom line, especially as an apple investor, I have always maintained that people who use phablets look like they're talking to a bathroom tile.

Booooo. I wish somebody would get their **** together already... heads need to roll.

you are talking about the analysts, right?

----------

How do you know they don't?

Or maybe their standards aren't as high as Apple's??

It helps that HTC only sells 20 phones per quarter, and Samsung is of the hugest conglomerates on earth. Despite that, they still can't afford to use aluminium on their high end, high sale (not anymore lol) devices.

So yeah, each iPhone launch is something that should be appreciated. A lot. You need the biggest foundries on the planet all singing to the same tune.

Oh my goodness!

I know people have already said but it can't be said enough times.

A product can't be delayed when it hasn't even been announced!!!!!!!!!!!!

Accurate iPhone part leaks tend to start showing up two months before the new phones are announced. Assuming a September launch, If no 5.5" internals show up in July it's probably not coming this year. Abscence of 5.5" parts prior to July doesn't indicate anything as most parts showing up prior to that are usually fakes, bits of prototypes or mock ups.

We're only 2 months away from the purported roll out of the iPhone 6. If they're having issues now, that's not a good sign.

Wow. Make your mind up! I don't think it would look good for Apple if they delay an announced device until 2015. Especially something like the iPhone. They're the world's most valuable company and they can't get their head around production of a device? Not being funny, but Samsung seem okay with production of their devices.

I can see them struggling with production of the iWatch when that comes out and we'll all be waiting ages for our orders.

Don't get me wrong, I love Apple to pieces and all of their products but they have a thing with making themselves look bad.

Just make it a hunk of plastic like other phones and sell it it cheaper. I only care about iOS. After the 'champagne flute' fragile iPad Air I'm done with Apple's lack of durability.
