I recently found a Samsung note 3, meaning someone was still using a phone from 2013. Do you know anyone still using a iPhone 5s, a 1gb ram device.

Nope, I don’t know anyone still using the iPhone 5S and kudos to the person still using a Galaxy note 3. Really doing a good job, helping to reduce carbon footprint on our planet.

Yep, my parents and for their usage they don't need anything more yet.

If you ask me, no phone checks every single box. There are certain things I find attractive about various other phones - some have 90 Hz refresh OLED displays, some have screens that spill over and look nice, smaller/pinhole/no notch, better DAC, HDR video, etc etc. But no Android phone has everything I want in one package.

I like the Pixel for its clean OS and camera processing (which is slow though unfortunately), but it lacks so many other things. The OnePlus 7 has a lot of good features, and yet still misses out on some that I want, like wireless charging. Samsungs look great, have decent hardware, but slow down over time and their software is gimmicky and doesn't measure up.

At least right now, for me anyway, the iPhone still has the best overall set of features. It has the some of the best fit and finish you find, competitive water resistance, nearly perfect screen and colour accuracy, great speakers, a camera that's more or less the best currently available (I prefer it to the Pixel) with by far the best video of any camera, the fastest processor, and of course the OS.

Seeing as cameras are going to be great this year and display wise the iPhones have great displays

Why on earth are you mentioning 5G? It’s useless until at least 2020 and that’s when Apple will bring it out...android devices having it this year is just rushing it to market

GPU? Lol what...apples A chip destroys all comp so no android aren’t close to this area

Audio jack? You mean like the note 10?...oh wait...
Newsflash audio jack is going from every phone..get used to it

You mention FP scanner counts as apple being behind? Well android are a good 2 years behind on a system as capable as Face ID...works both ways

So from your list that was poor

Only thing missing from android is

Picture in picture
On screen widgets
spilt screen apps

Everything else? Apple is fully on par with or better than android..

Where android are behind

Notifications- (arriving on time)
Updates for non pixel
Support
Structured syncing with all devices
Eco system

So basically feature wise apple are not missing out on anything really hardware wise

Android is awful at updating the OS (per device). iOS is great in that regard.

Still haven't seen any other phone with stainless steel.

U forgot the good old Nokia from 2005 :)

I think this is underplaying the importance of 5G for 2 reasons:
1) while 4G speeds are theoretically sufficient for 99% of typical requirements of mobile users, actual 4G performance in some high density areas of many countries is very poor (below 3G+ speeds). 5G would help recover decent performance in those areas and it is starting to become available in a number of countries with a lot more to be added in the coming month (most western and many Asian countries are likely to have some sort of 5G service available in those areas at some point during the next iPhones lifecycle).
2) maybe the most important point: phone upgrade cycles are getting longer at the same time as prices are getting higher for high end models. With that in mind, there will be people buying what Apple might call the iPhone 11 Pro in 2019/20 and expecting that top of the line and expensive “pro” model to give them a premium experience until 2021/22. At that time a lack of 5G would likely be a significant drawback in terms of that premium experience.

Most android devices use that extra ram to allow you to multitask split screen. iPhones still have app refreshes and safari tabs reloading.
it is just different OS, Apple can do the split-screen if they want to. Do you know iPad can do that?
Apple has it is own thing

iPad has true split screen where both screens are active? You can have a video playing on one screen and actively browse the web on the other section without the video pausing?

iPhones have been behind in hardware for at least 6 years now. Where have you've been at? The only thing Apple has been ahead is OS optimization.

If you read about the Xs and Xs Max displays, you’ll realize they are the very best implementation of AMOLED so far in a mobile device. Plain and simple!

I'll have to disagree with you. iPhone's OLED displays looked slightly washed out and they still look like LED displays. Not saying the are awful displays. The display is still crisp. But there are other devices that have implemented it better.

Don’t forget apple also have better processors and a better faceid system as well as the better os.

Yes, it has been the case for some time. The reason it is not available on iPhones is a UI choice from Apple, but I’d say high end iPhones would have had the technical capability of doing it for a few years.

Apple is better with colour accuracy which personally I prefer. Many Android manufacturers tend to boost contrast and saturation which some people prefer as it looks more punchy - but it gives less realistic rendering.

It is like a discussion between someone who prefers headphones with extra bass and someone who prefers a more neutral sound signature.

Are we calling picture and picture split screen now?

Aesthetics has always been important to Apple, that’s kind of what separates their hardware standards from the competitors, is they really do use quality materials that are durable and give the product a really nice feel to it. I personally really like the stainless bands on the XS line, they give the phone a nice weight and premium feel. I think Apple does a really nice job all around with their product line, which includes the 316L stainless Apple Watch.

I sooo wanted the stainless steel watch, but it was out of stock. Definitely will get it the next go around.

Umm... Apple leads the industry in SoC design and execution. Unless you're talking about something else...

iPhone's OLEDs are the most colour accurate out there. It's not just me saying that, look at DisplayMate. You might enjoy oversaturated displays, but that means that what you see is not what others see.

Nope. Talking about actual split screen with 2 apps running in parallel on each side of the screen.

Was introduced in iOS 11 (and might not be available to you depending in which iPad you have).

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207582

Within that exact link you sent me it says "use apps while you watch a video with PICTURE IN PICTURE" (about half way down the page)

Apple doesn't have real multitasking where all the windows are active like you have on your mac or windows. Only one window can work at one time , the other is just a picture frozen until you make that window active again.

Only apple fans would call that multitasking

Where iPhones are behind I think are :
-display resolution
-BATTERY
- ram
- wireless charging speed
- wires charging speed.

also software to actually take advantage of their cpus, all well and good to have this powerful cpu, but tests show in day to day use it offers no real improvement

I would say this is fair. Wouldn't mind 10w fast charging at least. I hope Xs Max is capable. Still love the screen on my Xs Max.

iOS 13 shows off some muscle with the machine learning that Apple has implemented. Face ID is faster, and faster apps opening is a real thing.

iOS is my favorite update in years.

Have another look, the page I linked to does have an animation with 2 apps being active at the same time side by side and the screen split vertically (and I have it working on my iPad Pro right now). If you read the support page again, picture in picture is just a subsection. "Use two apps at the same time with Split View" is also listed and is full multitasking with both apps running side by side with half the screen each, both active, and interactive drag and drop between them (the animation shows mail ans photos running in that way).

No issue with “Apple fans” wrongly naming anything. Just describing what the hardware and softer have supported since iOS 11.

Just because both apps are side by side doesn't mean both are active. Apple can't even do multitasking correctly while boasting how powerful their chip is.....let me show you what multitasking should look like. Try this on your iPad

I’m happy the way multitasking works on iOS and iPad. I rarely see an android user actually know how to even do it or even know it exist. iOS does it best with saving battery life and not slowing the phone down

The only reason I want a iphone is the nice looking apps and face ID, I think it's a nice looking phone with stainless steel on the back, flat screen and will last longer but deep down I know it's pretty inferior compared to android in terms of what it can do.

I do like facetime and imessage but that's really it. I don't even game like that I'm older so most of that stuff doesn't really bother me.

If you decide to opt for the stainless Apple Watch, take a look at the black stainless. It’s pretty sleek looking, has a diamond like carbon coating [DLC] that surrounds the casing, which basically is a protective layer from the scratches/scuffs. Otherwise the regular 316 L stainless Apple Watch has a nice weight/but has the ‘high shine’ to it. Can’t go wrong with either Model.
