You’re honestly unbelievable right now! My pictures speak for themselves dude! It’s worse in real life and the Tab S5e is just embarrassing with those scenes. This has been a complaint of attentive reviewers for years now. Black crush, banding, etc. Fix it Samsung! End of story.

My pics prove otherwise.

So I just happen to have the golden Samsung display. Okay,

Ok I admit it. It was all fake haha! My bad. Samsung screen’s are the best and have zero issues.

Samsung screens are the best. That's why apple uses them and had to pay Samsung back a bunch of money cuz their iPhones didn't sell as well as expected.

Btw you're test is hilarious. Testing screens by taking a picture of them? Really? You couldn't even do something as simple as stop the videos in the same spot.

My test actually shows just how bad it is. The fact that a smartphone camera can pick this up shows you it would be more pronounced in person (which it is). Yes, Samsung Display makes the best AMOLED screens, and Apple has the best implementation of that technology so far. They are only lacking in resolution.

The pictures are pretty dang close. The entire two seconds these artifacts are visible so it doesn’t really matter. Again, S10 on the left in 16:9 and a Xs Max on the right 16:9. Samsung’s phones struggle with some select dark scenes, Apple’s do not. I’m not going to be wasting time trying to convince y’all anymore. This is crazy!

Both of the bottom two images are of the Galaxy S10 fully zoomed in. One is black like it should be displaying red.

OK, this needs need some clarification, in fairness, Apple doesn’t use Samsung just because they’re ‘the best’, Samsung was the _only_ OLED supplier that could actually meet the demand/needs for Apples displays at that time when they placed an order. There was no other supplier that could actually even counter what Apple needed for the iPhone X at that time in 2017, now that LG is allegedly the secondary OLED supplier.

He posted a photo that shows your photo isn't representative of an actual s10. Time to fall back, did you photoshop your images to make them look bad?

No, he posted images of an S10+. I have been posting images of an S10. Those are different phones with different AMOLED displays. If I was trying to photoshop the images I wouldn’t be posting the photo taken right before the green paint. Both of these are from the S10. Red looks good, green does not.

Apple couldn't even fulfill their order for the iPhone xs. Why the heck do they need a secondary supplier? Lol

Are you contesting that they don’t need a secondary supplier or the fact that your first post was inaccurate by saying they only ‘chose Samsung because they were the best’, when that was not remotely true, they chose Samsung because they were the only supplier that can exceed manufacturing specifications for that many OLED panels at that time for the 2017 X for Apple. You should probably do a bit of research before making any presumptions.

No, they are the same displays. Just a size difference. The S10 would actually be technically better than the S10+ cause of the PPI difference.

They are not the same display! One is 6.1” and the other is 6.4”. Just like the the Xs and Xs Max are the not the same display. The Xs tests a bit better as well, not that those differences would be perceptible by me or the average user. But they are different which is the point. Just because your S10+ doesn’t have the issue doesn’t mean the S10 is exempt or that there might be other S10+ phones that might exhibit this same behavior.

Also, did you take that photo with the S10+ at max brightness under natural mode and adaptive brightness on?

I would say worst case is you have a faulty unit, as you saw someone posted a photo with the exact same scene that looks perfect.

How can you have max brightness and adaptive brightness at the same time in the dark? That just will not happen. Adaptive brightness will bring the the bright level in or below the middle mark.

You manually throw the slider to max.

Yes, but on a different phone. I’ve already seen it on a Tab S5e. Now I’m very suspicious.

What assumption? Displaymate consistently have phones with Samsung screens ranked at the top. Yes it hurts that apple has to use a rivals parts because they can't make their own. Deal with it.

Look it's well known Samsung don't have the best calibrations out of the box, it's not the hardware itself, just inferior calibration to what Apple is providing on the XS series phones. But when it comes the the actual oled panel itself the Note 10+ has the best screen of ANY smartphone on the market.

Samsung panels yes... Apple proprietary calibration also yes....

That's the difference. I prefer Apple OLED. Samsung calibration has always been trash.

It’s really struggling with green wonder what’s going on there.

It’s much more than calabrition. Actually they are entirely different displays.

Apples custom designed oled with different display panel materials and an entirely different calibration compared to Samsung own panels. if you look at the pixels under a microscope, you can see the difference between the apple and Samsung panel, it’s quite clear.

Think about the soc as well?
it’s not the Tsmc a12. tsmc is a fabricator (just like Samsung) that manufactures to apple custom specification, just like Samsung with the display.
Samsung even had to build apple their own dedicated facility for oled panels fabrication.

You don’t do all of that just to buy an of the shelf component.

Another example would be the Foxconn iPhone . Because Foxconn are just the assemblers.

As someone else mentioned the only reason apple sourced Samsung was because of scalability But with lg, boe, and Japan display rumored to be entering apples oled supply chain, Samsung scalability lost the one edge they had.

Tl:dr Apple oled is a completely different display to what Samsung uses on their phones.

Yet every single reviewer says the Note 10 has the best screen, bar none. Samsung save the best panel technology for themselves, what saves the iPhone XS is Apples calibration.

It’s not just that you though, it’s also the automatic color management from sRGB and DCI-P3 on the fly that actually works properly, not just in one or two apps as Anandtech has discovered.

If you look at Displaymate’s analysis, the difference between an S10 and Xs Max are imperceptible to the naked eye save for resolution. I also don’t understand why Samsung won’t allow the full 700-800 nit value unless under direct sunlight or watching an HDR video using YouTube essentially.

I agree with the first part of your post, I hope Samsung can start getting the colour management better as well as the calibration. As for the brightness there is no need for over 500 nits unless in direct sunlight, I have my note 10+ set at 50 percent Max. Only time I need 100 percent is under direct sunlight. Samsung got it right Imo.

Note 10 has a good screen it’s an improvement, but it’s far from the best even against last years xs max.

Reviews for the device have been tepid To say the least. It’s not going to sell well. Probably why there are rumors Samsung will finally get rid of the curved display with completely redesigned s11.

Where did you read that?
Could you please provide a source because that’s hilarious.

Samsung display is a business , and they are not selling any of their “off the shelf component panel” to apple that much is clear.

Samsung is fabricating apples oled to their exact specification in a dedicated separate facility built for apple, that’s why they are completely different panels, with different results.

You are comparing just brightness (where Samsung can actually reach higher brightness under direct sunlight) and using that to say the Note 10 has an inferior screen to last years iPhone, you have no idea lol. If you link the entire Note 10 displaymate review and not just a small snippet that suits your narrative it rates the screen on the Note 10 as the best available.

I'm not going to get dragged into your childish Samsung VS apple rubbish , it's boring to say the least. Buy the phone you like and enjoy. I find the people who say the most negative stuff are often the most insecure of their own choices etc. I'm out.
