Apple Fans how do you defend yourselves after seeing this.......

As another poster said, "nothing to defend."
People are buying based on needs and values. I'm sure people would do some investigating before purchasing. I'm sure people would know what they are buying. It's their preference.

Specs don't matter when people are buying based on values/need/ preference..unless spec is part of value/preference.
 
So much wrong with that list.

1. The Galaxy S8 it's actually competing against is 8.0 mm thick...
2. IP67 vs IP68, fair enough I guess.
3. Megapixels are most certainly not everything when it comes to cameras, and anyone that knows anything about cameras already knows that.
4. Resolution, again, fair enough.
5. The 4S from 2013 had 64 GB of storage available...
6. I may be wrong, but I don't think the X is using AMOLED.
7. Much like the camera, the number of cores are not everything. Benchmarks are already showing that.
8. The 7+ had 3 GB of RAM, though the 7 only had 2 GB, so it depends what you were using before that matters.
9. iPhone 7 already had 802.11ac...
10. iOS 11 is bringing more functionality to NFC.
11. Wireless charging, fair enough, but it's of dubious utility
12. If you need a headphone jack, then yeah that's a drawback.

I don't even care for the X and can see much of that list is bogus.

The S6 had horrible on screen battery life (matters the most). 3-4 hours at most for me.

Saying that Samsung knows high resolution screens comes at a huge battery life hit. The S8 ships with 1080p by DEFAULT cause they don't want people complaining about battery life!! And we know 80% of people who buy those phones won't bother to change the default resolution. Samsung knows if too

I thought it was super AMOLED? Isn't that why it got called super retina not just retina? I could be wrong but that's what I read. Samsung uses super AMOLED, so if they are the supplier, that's what will be in the iPhone X right?

I haven't seen a single source say the X is using AMOLED. I just looked as well. There are people speculating the X may use a pentile layout. However, AMOLED is a type of pentile display and they are thus not the same thing. If that's what @se1000 meant by 'good grief', then he best provide some sources to back up the snark.

Interestingly enough, 5s (and A6-based 5/5c) still working quite tolerably on iOS 10.

So perhaps it's super OLED? I've read a lot of reviews that say it's OLED and a few that say super. What's the difference here? I don't know much about screens.

Well when you have an inferior product and need to justify, this is what happens. On the other hand when your happy with a product you tend not to care about competition and you're just happy with what you have and don't give a ****.

I had an S6 Edge and thought it was a good phone. However, it did seem to slow down and the battery degraded after a year. Have the S8 now and it appears to be aging better though.

I think the designers of the iPhone X did a good job and made a competitive phone to it's android competition. With the exception of price though but even though it's overpriced it'll sell like crazy.
 
Not sure I qualify as an "Apple Fan", just someone who ends up buying a lot of Apple gear because it seems to suit me the best (especially macOS). But anyway, I'm not buying an iPhone X. I have a 6S right now, but I'm giving it to my wife and tomorrow receiving delivery of a different iPhone that also has a headphone jack, the iPhone SE.

As for the comparison, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't iOS 11 provide app developers the APIs to do things with NFC? Honestly I've been complaining about the lack of NFC before they had it, followed by complaining about the limited usefulness of it once it was added, but it seems like they are finally opening it up and my complaints may be met.

I've got a bunch of Android devices lying around, and I like Android enough, but iPhones just seem like the best bet for my main phone, considering speed, security, and the app ecosystem. I wish for automation functionality that Android has (e.g. Tasker, etc), and it seems with Apple's acquisition of Workflow we may eventually see something comparable.

Nobody may know for sure until reviewers get their hands on it, which is why I also qualified my statement with "I may be wrong". I imagine iFixit will have a teardown posted asap.

Very simple:

1. thickness - meh
2. water resistance - iPhone has enough for acidental drops. I'm not planing to use the iPhone in the water so, do not care about IP 68
3. camera - there is more to the camera than megapixels. This comparison leaves out important aspects of the camera from the most obvious thing (dual cameras) to those tiny details (deep trench isolation).
4. display - the Galaxy S6 uses a pentile matrix in its subpixel scheme. That effectively means that there are 2.5 lighting elements per pixel. The iPhone seems to use a standard RGB subpixel scheme with 3 elements for each pixel, which makes it the winner in clarity. Then again, pixel density is not the only thing that makes a good display. Reflectability levels, viewing angles, and color accuracy are much more salient aspects of displays since the onset of retina displays.
5. 64 GB storage - the iPhone has significantly faster storage
6. super amoled screen - a marketing gimmick that means next to nothing for measuring screen quality. See 4.
7. 6 core CPU - once again, there is much more to a CPU than the number of cores. Number of transistors, caches, frequency, size, architecture. Since the A7, the CPU on the iPhone far outpaces their competition that year. Since the A9 we've entered territory in which the latest and greatest from Snapdragon couldn't compete with the year-old iPhone CPU
8. RAM - Apple's compression algorithm far surpasses the messy garbage collection in Android. iPhone can handle much more apps in the background than Android counterparts with double the RAM
9. Wifi - that's the current standard in every phone. What's the point?
10. NFC - peer-to-peer wireless is superior speed wise, security wise, and range wise
11. wireless charging - This is not really wireless charing. It is plugless charging. You need to buy a 3rd party accessory to get a less efficient, more time consuming, more heat generating (and thus battery damaging) charging solution, that still requires a cable and that can't be used while using the phone in any kind of ergonomic position.
12. no headphone jack - I have AirPods and Beats Solo 3

In addition:
this is a pick and choose type of list. Call me when the latest and greatest from Samsung includes:
1. 3D touch
2. True Tone Display
3. Fast, Secure, and Convenient Facial Recognition
4. Software Updates
5. Dual Speakers
6. A chipset better than the A11

See? I can make the S8 and Note 8 feel outdated as well

As soon as any person or reviewer starts by listing or comparing specs, they've missed the point entirely. Devices aren't defined by their specs, they're defined by their usability and how specific features of that device aid in day-to-day tasks that people need/want to complete.

So there's nothing to defend because you're arguing the wrong points.

I don't believe it was a mainstream device. Iirc, most people buying the Nexus were getting them full price unlocked via Google which isn't the norm in the US.

Mind, I've had to troubleshoot my coworker's Galaxy S4 a few times and the input lag is significantly worse than the 5 or 5s. I'd tap on stuff 3 or 4 times because it seems as though the phone hasn't registered the taps and I'd end up in the wrong screen. Thankfully, I don't think I've ever deleted anything by accident.
