That's what astroturfing is all about. They don't care about facts, just talking points that advance an agenda.

And doubtless these people go home and then wonder why the villains have all the power and the world is such a cesspit of corruption!

They probably don't even recognise their own role in it!

I specifically referred to the HTC Touch that was shown in a "slideshow" in December 2006. A SLIDESHOW!!

One month later Steve Jobs showed a WORKING device. Not a bunch of "look what we have" slides.

I might also add Eric Schmidt was on the Apple Board in August 2006. Since that time he has been stealing IP from Apple until the time of his departure.

You forget to add that Google provided the Map application in the first iPhone. So Google engineers have inside knowledge of iPhone OS long before it was launched.

Its funny, I can get the point you are trying to get at...but when you say something like that...i look at the market before the iphone and low and behold:

Whats that??? A mostly touchscreen phone?

Maybe a fluke..there must've been just one...

oh wait :rolleyes:

Listen yes we know...Apple came and did some great things with the iPhone while the phone industry was a bit stagnant...but there was already a slow move towards large touchscreen devices. The popularity of the iphone helped accelerate this greatly.

The iPhone was SHOWN at Macworld on Jan 9th.
The Prada had a press release on Jan. 18th.

HTC is not a Chinese company.

Taiwan IS part of China; that's why Chiang Kai-Shek's delegates were expelled from the UN in 1971, following approval of Resolution 2758.

And I can tell you: the day some country like the US FORMALLY recognizes Taiwan as an independent State is the day a big military conflict starts.

Good Luck Apple, you will need it...

Update: Revealed in the lawsuit are the patents in question. They are entitled:
"Time-Based, Non-Constant Translation Of User Interface Objects Between States"
"Touch Screen Device, Method, And Graphical User Interface For Determining Commands By Applying Heuristics"
"Unlocking A Device By Performing Gestures On An Unlock Image"
"List Scrolling And Document Translation, Scaling, And Rotation On A Touch-Screen Display"
"System And Method For Managing Power Conditions Within A Digital Camera Device"
"Automated Response To And Sensing Of User Activity In Portable Devices"
"GMSK Signal Processors For Improved Communications Capacity And Quality"
"Conserving Power By Reducing Voltage Supplied To An Instruction-Processing Portion Of A Processor"
"Object-Oriented Graphic System"
"Object-Oriented Event Notification System With Listener Registration Of Both Interests And Methods"

Based on this "weak" info. I really wish Apple legal team a "Good Luck". I was under impression Apple(SJ) would not make this dumb move and save Apple from public embarrassment. Microsoft would be the one who put a last nail in this case coffin. Everything goes as planned at the moment...:cool:

ABOUT TIME!!!! Take no prisoners on these creeps. :apple:

You have that right. The culture that HTC functions in has very little respect for intellectual property. They just have a big assembly plant and hired a PR firm to make them look good. This is the same outfit years ago was accused of ripping off ROM binaries of various consumer electronics and putting it in their own product.

Slow??

LOL, how about a near stand-still?

Everything changed a little to fast and little too suddenly, given the slow "evolution" of the market before June 2007. And did the market ever move slowly before Apple!

Right and wrong. I refer only to the U.S. In the U.S., it must be fixed in a tangible (not intangible) medium of expression:

§ 102. Subject matter of copyright: In general

(a) Copyright protection subsists, in accordance with this title, in original works of authorship fixed in any tangible medium of expression, now known or later developed, from which they can be perceived, reproduced, or otherwise communicated, either directly or with the aid of a machine or device. Works of authorship include the following categories:

(1) literary works;

(2) musical works, including any accompanying words;

(3) dramatic works, including any accompanying music;

(4) pantomimes and choreographic works;

(5) pictorial, graphic, and sculptural works;

(6) motion pictures and other audiovisual works;

(7) sound recordings; and

(8) architectural works.

(b) In no case does copyright protection for an original work of authorship extend to any idea, procedure, process, system, method of operation, concept, principle, or discovery, regardless of the form in which it is described, explained, illustrated, or embodied in such work.

Sure; as I said above, I was referring to pretty much any other jurisdiction OUTSIDE the US (notably those based on Civil Law systems).

The iPhone was SHOWN at Macworld on Jan 9th.
The Prada had a press release on Jan. 18th.

If you kept reading the article....
"The PRADA Phone by LG will be available with prices starting from 600 Euros in mobile dealerships as well as selected PRADA stores in the UK, France, Germany and Italy as of late February, 2007"

A month and a half is not enough time to "rip off" the iPhone design.

woooh!

Maxims to live by:

Don't steal, says the pot to the kettle

Do as I say, npt as I do, says the parent to the child

Good artists create, great artists steal, says Uncle Steve

Funny how it's not so funny when the shoe's on the other foot.

The LG KE850, also known as the LG Prada,[1] is a touchscreen mobile phone made by LG Electronics. It was first announced on December 12, 2006.[2] Images of the device appeared on websites such as Engadget Mobile on December 15, 2006.[3] An official press release showing an image of the device appeared on January 18, 2007.[1] It was the first mobile phone with a capacitive touchscreen.

Care to clarify this? I don't understand your point.

Not only that, it holds the title of the first mobile phone with a capacitive touch screen.

The most interesting thing about this lawsuit?

It drags up old attempts to replace the aging classic Mac OS that began in the early 1990’s including the Pink/Taligent project.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taligent

And apparently, NeXT is technically a wholly owned subsidiary of Apple, Inc. So, it lives!

http://digitaldaily.allthingsd.com/20100302/apples-suits-against-htc-both-documents/

Yeah, this is totally fascinating and interesting that no challenge to desktop OS technology has ever been made since Steve took back up the reigns of Apple - if anyone know exactly what was bought, sold, invented, patented and owned during the 1970's and 80's, and then the 90's it's Steve Jobs!

Technically speaking the only company in the world with a 'Get out of Jail Free' card on use of the desktop metaphor is Microsoft and that all boils down to some dumb single page contract Apple CEO John Sculley gave to Bill Gates. I shudder to think what would happen if Apple ever really decided to call in every technical advancement it owns - people seem to forget they first licensed ( i.e paid for) the XeroX parc stuff and then built the first real world consumer mouse-desktop OS - everything from then on has been derivative.

Put simply two guys invented the modern world - Steve Jobs was one of them, Bill Gates the other. Every company could very easily find itself in the dustbin of history if either of these companies decided to ever take GUI/OS/interface/ patents back to day zero.

I sometimes wonder if this isn't a forced hand - domino effect cause by the Nokia suit. It's almost as if Apple are saying 'OK, so your coming after us, well were coming after you - let's see how messy this can really get and sort it out for once and for all'

It's all you really need to do a quick hack-job on Winblows Mobile. Or a Flash UI.

Do you actually think before you type!? Your ridiculous.... 1 months to create a touch device and have the OS compatible with it?! hahaha ok..

Oh trust me I agree. There was a significant slow down...and you know who i actually think dropped the ball HUGE in this department?

Palm. They progressed the industry so much with their first Treo smart phone...but by the end of the line..specifically 755p....it was the same old OS (still a great user friendly OS, but clearly not made for 3G networks in mind).

They had the phone industry and just let it slip from their grasp with poor business decisions and stagnation. I was a palm fanboy back in the day when I had my Palm V and Sony Clie after...eventually then i ended up with a 755p and now back with a Palm Pre...i will thank Apple for jump starting the industry again...

But lets not keep on going back 3 years praising them for it....other companies have caught up....lets just hope innovation continues.
