Yay we’ve devolved to calling each other “kid” now what a great comment.

Buying something gives you the right to complain or voice criticism. If you thought forums existed just for nodding in a circle then you’re in for a shock lmao

Gonna practice my other right which is the fabulous ignore feature, best of luck buddy!
You should re-read that member’s comment. He did not call you a kid. He was making a point of what a kid gets away with when they were a kid. But to be frank you called him “Champ” and the flow wasn’t a term of endearment. He’s right, you didn’t have to buy Apple’s product and also what I said earlier it’s your responsibility as the buying consumer to check out what the product comes with before purchase. That’s the most common thing people do.

Don’t really care either way, I don’t see his replies anymore. You read that totally wrong by the way

haha... carry on then. Find something else you need the government to tell you how to do...
Hahaha thanks man I can’t wait to get off the grid with my horse in the nearest cave outside city. Governments are so oppressive ugh

I think this has devolved into just insulting people that don’t agree with you (ironic considering the recently brought up topic of “adulthood”) in the name of brand loyalty with Apple so I’m probably gonna take the high road on this one and agree to disagree! :)

"Apple responded to the agency's concerns by saying that most customers already have spare adapters and that providing another one in the box is unneeded."

If that were the only reason then they'd allow people to add one to their order for free.
I think what's at issue here is whether or not Apple shaves the cost of the adapters off of the cost of the iPhone since they're not including them. But how would one know this? These phones already cost almost as much as a low-end PC, and in some cases as much as a high-end one. Adding an adapter for free isn't practical. I would expect to be charged if I added one to my order.

Yeah I would never raise a stink about the charger being missing if they had taken that out of the regular price of the phone.

I mean clearly lots of people out there agree considering the number of investigations and lawsuits that apples in these days

Whatever we think of the pros and cons of charger inclusion, it certainly seems odd that Apple would flagrantly breach the Consumer Defence Code. I got the impression that Apple were heavily in favour of following the rules set out by the markets in which one does business.
They’re just really good at hiding their noncompliance, mostly. Until recently, anyway. Now they’re being targeted by basically every continent with investigations and lawsuits, and correctly so. Nobody’s above the rules, no matter how shiny their phones are

Just include the 5 watt chargers and be done with it.
No, i want to drive this point home.

What I'd like someone to explain / what I'd like to know is why Apple's competitors so far don't have a spine on this and/or don't embrace the massive positive PR to just say, "Look, we hear you. You want a charger. We agree. It's just flat logical. So we're just saying this here and now. This critical accessory, an in-box charger, won't ever be excluded."

or "We're going to follow suit, *BUT* there's an in-box coupon, or 1 free one at checkout or in-store with receipt, etc... " something like that.

No, this doesn't get to be about what Apple should do. Or the precedence, that Apple "sets". Screw Apple. The competition needs to make Apple regret backstabbing Apple customers.

Samsung / Xaiomi can be hurt, unlike Apple - if customers abandon them.

I've never felt Backstabbed by Apple. I've never felt front stabbed by apple...or side stabbed. I see apple's product. I know what it is, and i buy it for what it is at what they charge. Its their right to include what they want and their right to charge what they want, just as it's my right to chose to buy, or not to buy.

Lightning has no benefits over USB-C, but most consumers own either a USB-C charger or a cable or both.

Lightning is smaller, thinner and has the pins on the cable rather than on the port. I just recently had to have an iPad Pro replaced because the pins in the USB-C port broke. Also, the tolerances of USB-C ports and cables between manufactures seems to vary wildly. Some of them are loose on one phone and tight on another. When a manufacture makes a Lightning cable they have to adhere to Apples’ specifications. While it would be nice to have a universal connector it would also be nice if these were made to a truly universal specification and not a free-for-all.

One way to know is if they lowered the price when they stopped including the chargers.
