That's irrelevant. As it says in this press release "We have established that Apple is a company with a dominant position. That comes with extra responsibilities".

Regardless of how many phone manufacturers there are, Apple is dominant. That's all that matters legally.
Apple has 42% share in the Netherlands (I don’t know if tablets are included, that would push them higher). Samsung has 36%.That’s hardly a dominant position.

If me and one other person own all the land, it should be appropriated. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to live in a world where two people own all the land and everyone else are just serfs.
Neither do I but competition is in the form of multiple manufacturers, multiple app stores. It’s not just two, it’s dozens including windows arm tablets with cellular modems. However if you bought all your land legally, than your a smart business person.

Just pull all dating apps from the Dutch store and call it a day. Then there’s no more market to complain and fight over.
That would both cost Apple millions in profits and provide clear evidence they are abusing their market power for regulators. Genius.

I'm sure glad my Apple stock returns are in more capable hands.

Solution to all this antitrust is for Apple to raise prices worldwide and lower their market share. If they have 10% share it will be hard to go after them (now they have 20%).

Non tech people want Apple to just fix it....you know its probably just a few lines of code...Be serious its so easy.

Bureaucrats and politicians - the least informed low IQ people ever- telling a business they are not being serious is a new high in hilarity.

Why has macrumors' Apple supporter reduced the demand to pull Dating Apps out of the Netherland? Why are these people relenting?

Why are they not sticking with their original demand? Apple should Pull out of the Netherland. It is a country with only 17M population. Show them the power of Apple.

If I was able to legally buy up half of all land, I would say there is something wrong with those laws that would allow for such an absurdity.

This statement is totally irrelevant to any argument. "Apple’s conditions will thus have to take into account the interests of buyers.” It makes zero difference to the buyers who they use to pay for their apps. The price will be the same no matter what payment system the consumer uses. As this is really such a small piece of Apple's business, it would be better for the company to just withdraw all of the Dating Apps from the Dutch Appstore. They do not need to become entangled in these petty disputes with app operators. They have many millions of apps, so time to weed out the trouble makers. Funny to watch the Left eating the Left.

To have apps that have different features in different regional areas does require separate binaries
No, it doesn‘t. You can just have a conditional code that‘s only executed in or for the Netherlands.
Other apps do it too. Does Netflix have separate apps for all the countries around the world? No, they don‘t. But they’re still offering separate content in them.

If anything, it‘s, again, a contractual requirement by Apple, nothing more.
This makes sense. There's no additional fees associated with this, as you've suggested.
27% for outside purchases is a new fee that they were trying to add.
They are trying to design a system that can be monitored and audited. The App Store is not a "free-for-all" marketplace where there's no rules and regulations
Outside payments can, by their definition, hardly be monitored and audited by Apple.
Worst form of micro-management. Don’t blame apple for fighting stupidity.
If anyone‘s micromanaging, it‘s Apple coming up with „micro“ new rules and requirements.

Dutch regulators have levied another fine of €5 million against Apple in a continued dispute over alternative payment systems for dating apps. Apple's total fines have now reached €25 million as regulators assess weekly fines up to a total of €50 million or until Apple satisfies the regulatory requirements.

In a statement shared with TechCrunch, the Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) says Apple has "refused to put forward any serious proposals" and that "Apple's so-called 'solutions' continue to create too many barriers for dating-app providers."Apple said in mid-January that it would comply with the ACM's ruling on allowing alternative payment systems, but the company's terms included only reducing its commission on such purchases from the standard 30% to 27%, requiring developers to maintain separate app binaries, and requiring developers to submit monthly records of sales through alternative means to Apple in order to track commissions.

Apple and the ACM clearly have different ideas of what policies will satisfy the requirements of the original ruling, and the two sides appear to remain far apart as the fines against Apple continue to accumulate.

On one side I agree that there needs to be multiple payments options for apps. I also wonder at what point are these governments just being shakedown artists. And I wonder they
This for all of you and all business’ big and small.

Why didn't the Dutch authority be clear abt it? Just tell Apple "Look, we want you to host the dating apps for free and you as a big corporation need to pay those developers for everything because you're an evil company. therefore no good things you do is right!!!"

There are only two things I can't stand in this world: People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

Indeed. Apple can probably say it doesn't facilitate services that is illegal in most countries, if you know what I mean. I don't think all woman on those apps are looking for "unpaid" dates.

They don't just get to keep violating laws after the fine is paid, that will just trigger more substantial action (bigger penalties, etc).
Aggravated by repetitive behaviour.
Next lawsuit will likely be about violating EU consumer laws together with it’s distribution partner by knowingly “overbooking” sales.
Underlying issue is: pay local taxes, otherwise it’s just an US and Ireland problem, but everyone wants a cut…

If we dig a little bit outside the IT bubble, I am quite sure European pharmaceutical companies needs to adhere to FDA rules in order to sell to US. Did not Trump complain about the practice of pharmaceutical companies for the price on drugs for medical use? Why really? These companies are just doing their job to maximise their profit and playing the system just like Apple is doing. Sometimes the companies step over a legal line and it is the governments obligation to investigate and fine if necessary. Anything else would be anarchy.

I feel sorry for those who think politicians automatically are corrupt and lining their own pockets. Says more about the country they live in than the corruption status in The Netherlands.

I'm not saying Apple is a great place to work, I don't know. But, Chris Lattner left Apple in 2017. He has since worked for Tesla and Google and founded his own company last month. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Lattner
Well he says “to connect the dots” and implies that this Chris Lattner is an infallible metric for measuring how a company is utter evil every time he leaves.
So, connecting the dots: the open source Swift project, all of Tesla, all of Google and I’m guessing the chromium project tossed there as a bonus are also utterly bad places that tick all the evilness checkboxes. Let’s wait until he one day leaves his own company. In fact let’s just list all the companies he has ever worked at and left… that’s the trail of evil to follow.
